Clarification in PCMark'05 about Tweaks // Tricks allowed
Mikecdm replied to Sweet's topic in Benchmark software
If you know AMD raid expert is wrong, why do you continue to submit scores with it? Just because massman once said it was OK? Currently, everything is under speculation and you've been saying it since the team cup that you don't agree with it. How about having some principles and run the bench according to what you feel is right, instead of following the heard. I don't have many recent submissions myself, but I deleted the ones that I could find using flash2desktops. I know that running software that makes the screen turn black during a test is not a legitimate score. From what I've seen, we still don't have a final decision on F2D, but I decided to remove them, while most of us are removing our scores and trying to salvage what integrity we have left. -
Clarification in PCMark'05 about Tweaks // Tricks allowed

In 3d benches, when the screen goes black and you get a boosted, we consider that a glitch and an invalid score. How is it any different when we use flash2desktops? The screen goes black for the duration of the Transparent windows test and we get a boosted score. -
It seems that some of the staff has been informed of some of these tweaks and they themselves have been using them. Still, other staff members post regularly, asking the members to share the "tweaks" so that they can be properly evaluated. It seems odd that one staff member knows the tweaks and others don't.

If the wrapper makes it so that the bench is ran 100% legit and new scores don't come close to the scores that we are seeing, what does that say? If these recent scores are legit, then they should be able to be duplicated or at the very least, come very close.

We bench for points and because we enjoy what we do. I like pcm05, but i do not like these tweaks. I don't like having to do all sorts of tweaks to get a score that comes close. I too have spent a decent amount on storage. It might not be in the thousands, but I do have an areca. It just sits on the shelf along with my acard since I won't participate in this fashion. I'd rather loose points than run pcm05 this way. I'll just stick to 3d. I might not be as efficient as others, but I can still come close when clocks are similar.

Moose, it's seems that you agree that PCM05 has become a joke and you are against what it has become. Why do you continue to run the bench if you feel this way about it? Too hard to pass up the easy boints?
-
So say someone makes a wrapper that works 100% and there is no way to cheat. What happens to the scores that have been showing up for the past couple of months?
-
I'm almost certain that many people see that it's wrong. I bet even the people doing it can see something wrong in it but they get away with it. Most people probably just don't give a shit and don't say anything. I just stopped running pcm05. I did it for team cup, but it was just for the competition points. A few months ago I probably would have disagreed with your view on pcm05, but now I have to agree with you. It has become a joke.

The official GIGABYTE Classic Challenge thread.

I think we will see amazing efficiency. -
Should just make it to where a flashed 465 has to be submitted as a 470. It makes things easier. When you unlock amd cpu, they compete in a different core class and an x3 555 never competes against an x2 555.
-
Does that mean it's time to share all secrets and let others catch up while you conjure up more magic to show off when you un-retire
-
Unfortunately, clocks don't really matter any more in this bench

Killer scores, great job. Board looks very interesting too. Dual post code readouts, + - buttons, i like it. -
Several of these classes, like the E2xxx, E3xxx, E5xxx no actual Core 2 cpu exist. They are either celeron or pentium dual core, but they are all based on the core 2 architecture and part of the core 2 family.

Its easier to get LN2 than it is to figure out the "tweaks" in pcmark05

247 bclk on an asus w/o slow mode, I'm amazed. -
At first none were caps, then i thought it might be the problem, but I didn't realize that the M was supposed to be capitalized. I also forgot to thank CherV for sharing, Thank you.
-
I do that, but when i launch the flash dekstops, it lowers TW. Not sure whats going on. So it turns out, I didn't spell PCMark05 exactly as it should. I didn't capitalize the M, once i did that it worked.
-
it seems i can't get this flashdesktops 2 to do anything.

All these crazy scores are impressive, but it's only a 2-3 person game right now and one person is just playing with the rest of them. I'm honestly not even shocked when i see the big numbers because i know he's holding back. Unfortunately I don't know how to even begging trying to find out these tweaks. I try to decrypt the little hints here and there, look over the web to see if i can find anything to head me in the right direction, but the registry is written in hieroglyphics.
