  1. Is this meant to be V1 = V2, or are we expecting comet lake before the comp opens?
  2. Prediction: team US gets more optimal hardware but doesn't bother LN2'ing the phenoms, team AU LN2s everything and takes the stage.
  3. that sounds like a lot of fun to me, it's always nice to see stages that allow plenty of 'unoptimal' hardware to participate (eg am3 athlon x2)
  4. Damn, I spoiled the stream for myself by checking hwbot first. Hell of a score man, so close to WR.
  5. Screenshot-based validation in general is not ideal and depends on how much trust you want to have, but geekbench already has a mechanism for online validation as well, the same as UL benchmarks do. Screenshot of result+cpu-z cpu+cpu-z mem(+gpu-z gpu) alongside a datafile or validation link seems to me a very consistent, accessible way to do things. GPUPI and x265 do this already, UL benchmarks effectively do this for high ranked or windows 8/10 scores, benchmate does this too. Geekbench could certainly do the same without having to be run from benchmate. Benchmate is fantastic as a way to make sure the legacy benchmarks people love can carry on - benchmarks like wprime where there's literally no validation at all other than one number in the screenshot. Hopefully there's no need for it with a living, actively maintained benchmark like Geekbench and instead there can be co-operation towards a situation where Geekbench works without a wrapper.
  6. No need for this, surely? Just require a new version going forwards? The community is pretty good, it's not like there's huge numbers of suspect results to worry about.
  7. This makes sense. Sorting it out like this would be a perfect solution and would make the question of benchmate a non-issue - if geekbench is reasonably secure then there's no need for a launcher/wrapper/whatever. I can see how it's easy to confuse "hasn't magically realised something needs doing" with "doesn't care". I'm sorry for my lack of faith - clearly you do care.
  8. What evidence would you offer to show that you are taking these issues seriously? As someone who doesn't follow every minute detail of every ongoing piece of software development, all I know is that geekbench 3 and 4 are not approved for use on windows 8 and 10, even with a result validation link. Do hwbot mods have that wrong? I would love to be able to get legitimate results running geekbench on later operating systems *without* a wrapper, in fact I'm sure everyone would love that if possible.
  9. I... what? This has got to be a sandbag. Please be a sandbag. Wait, but if it is.... you spent 22 minutes on LN2 making a sandbag?!?!?????
  10. Hey man, cool score but you should take a screenshot with the render fully visible and CPU-Z tabs off to the side if you can. I know Cinebench R20 doesn't have proper rules on the site but conventionally for Cinebench it's needed.
  11. They're not multis/alts/whatever. I'd tell you directly if they were.
  12. I've tried to edit it twice already and the damn thing won't take, I'll try again... EDIT: nope
  13. Betrayedpredator is pretty active on the public r/oc discord. Feel free to join and use the discord search function to check message history from him and yos - discord.gg/overclock They'd get passed on in many cases anyway, better not to pretend they won't be.
  14. Please do not make an alt. Goes without saying but if I have any reason to think you're done that, all evidence will be forwarded to hwbot admins. OC should have an atmosphere of good faith. It's better to just talk with people respectfully if you're not sure about something. Names are shown because communication is important, and if someone is mass reporting in bad faith it's important that can be seen. As hwbot rules say; To enable this, names have to be attached. I think it might be a good idea to back off a bit and maybe just ask people if you're not sure about something, once a report is created for a valid score it means team captains are stuck with a notification until volunteer moderators can check and clear it.
  15. Don't appoint yourself the keeper of random people on the team just because you happen to share a discord server with them. You're not a team captain, stop acting like you represent the team.
  16. Perfectly fair question to ask. The comments following it, not so much. OC doesn't need that kind of toxicity, and other users trying to whip up a mob against someone just because they don't like the bencher is really not on. Nor is all the aggressive language some members have been using.
  17. I run a lot of boards with no CMOS battery, am I a cheater now? If someone fails to take a group photo at a group session, are they legit as long as they change the system time? What a stupid thing to get hung up on. More to the point, are there not rules against making these kind of nasty accusations in such a public way? I have a lot of problems with yos but he's not a cheater, he's had multiple bench sessions with darth before. Don't dispute that he's an idiot who needs to document them properly but only because I hold r/oc to a higher standard than some people who will pull strings to get known cheaters unbanned. I take serious issue with the conduct of @Mr.Scott in this thread.
