  1. Don't think I did anything special. It's just the CPU power and someone with better knowledge would get higher scores. This run is with default clocks on the card, but 185/210 got me about 10 points... Will change windows and try again next week. 44.03 driver seems to be the choice for XP with this system + benchmark combination. It's better than 66.93 and one older detonator driver I tried. Maybe omega could get it higher. If I manage to overclock the CPU higher, sure 10K is within reach.
  2. Yes, I was extremely lucky to find that CPU and really cheap (classified as useless stuff). I got a whole PC for like 25 euro - this T-Bird, the board, some generic sdram, quantum hdd, psu, case, cd-rom, riva tnt2 32MB. Have no windows installed yet, but will try. Hopefully will work, otherwise it is just plain boring - set 10x110 and that's it. Isn't 2V and above pretty normal and "safe"? It is 18nm CPU and although not a socket it should be similar to s.A.
  3. Also have the innovatek oc card, but it does not work on Asus K7V rev 1.03 and older according to the description. Guess what... my board is K7V 1.01. So it does not POST. The other problem is anything higher than 101 FSB in bios does not post. 110MHz with the jumpers works, but that's the maximum one can set.
  4. I think it uses the same clockgen as KT7A, so max should be 183MHz.
  5. Hope they will be good enough for you. All my 3 sticks are very good, especially the first 2 I bought at launch. Still my best Hypers to date and I have several SuperTalent 2200C8, 2000C8, Kingstons 2000C8, OCZ 2000C7, also had some Adata too, but sold long time ago.
  6. Don't think this has anything to do with BCLK. Non-K CPUs seem to be able to do high bclk without a problem. It's more about the cache/uncore, I believe.
  7. Yes, that's the usual price for GTX2. You can consider them rare and it's the highest Hypers bin ever. Binned for 1800 6-6-6 and 2250 8-8-8 1.65V Noone will sell you GTX2 for $20-30 per stick . I have 3 sticks and people even asked me on PM if I sell them... But I keep a pile of good Hypers for old-school benching
  8. Yes, however I have only M64's and one Ultra, so the latter is the obvious choice. I have Goldfinger's device for the CPU and will try without mods first, to see how far I can push it. And the Thunderbird has the built-in cache running at full speed, so I can't control that, right? It is basically socket A Thunderbird on slot A board.
  9. I've never touched slot A system, so don't be so sure Hope kotori-san will participate too. Plus it is all about fun Thanks for the multiplier info Scotty. Not sure what is possible with 1GHz T-Bird, but will try to find out. It is going to be limited by platform I guess, but maybe 1200-1300 (at > 2V vcore) is possible with water?
  10. Guess what... found T-bird 1000MHz and Asus board. Will join soon I'm not familiar with this platform. Is 10x the max multi or is x10.5 possible? I see in the interactive ocinside guide, max selectable frequency (at 100FSB) is 1050MHz, so it should be available. Also found TNT2 Ultra (Guillemot Maxi Gamer Xentor 32) in my pile of hardware, so it seems I will be full set.
  11. Awesome CPU. You still have some headroom left.
  12. How I've missed that... If my neighbour don't get it, then count me in. I can also ship it to German address if shipping to Bulgaria is too high. Thanks.
  13. Usual prices I see are $40-50 and up for a decent motherboard, plus shipping from USA is not an option, because it will be rather expensive in the end. Will try to find something cheap locally. I have the Innovatek OC card though, but no system to use it with Never played with slot A (I am too young) and that's why want to try. Some years ago I decided to collect AMDs only and stay away from Intel, because if I start to buy old Intels as well, then I don't see where I could store all this stuff. And ofcourse I have so many things that need to actually bench some day, adding Intel to that would mean chances to bench everything will get even smaller. But... maybe I could get at least s.478 to try, should be possible to find something really cheap. However, the trend is that old and valuable stuff gets harder and harder to find nowadays with prices going higher. If you want the best motherboards from those old sockets and if you actually find one, they are usually not so cheap as they were like 2-3 years ago. Even socket A/462 is getting much harder to source, part of the problem being many CPUs went to gold-diggers Same applies to older CPUs on other sockets.
  14. I want to participate as well, but don't have most of the hardware required. Looking for slot A combo from quite long time, but can't find anything cheap. Will definitely see if I have time for socket A though.
  15. It does not need to be black screen. Sometimes it is stuck just before the butterfly lands and still shows a score, but it is inflated as in your case.
  16. Pure gold! Will be interesting to see if anyone else can get closer to this any time soon. But 6G seems to be godlike for these cpus at least for the moment. BTW, X chips seem to be bad, at least mine and one more I've seen.
  17. Asrock has no options for multi at all, so I have no idea then (and multi does not work in OS ofcourse). Not sure if a stupid idea, but you may try to save a profile with your K cpu, then load it or direct-boot with i3 at same settings. I'm sure someone will tell how... I will test myself when get back home. Gene has no exposed slow-mode switch, but you can make one based on the tweaking guide. It has always been like that on Gene, or at least ones I had (last 3 generations).
  18. This is called old-school overclocking I guess you can lower it to lowest 8x with slow-mode or with some of the options in bios, but can't adjust freely. Maybe if you disable "max-turbo multi mode" it will lower multi automatically so bclk x multi roughly matches the stock speed, but that's just a wild guess. Haven't played much yet, so I can't tell, but I've seen 8x. High BCLK doesn't seem to be a problem though, so you're mostly limited by cache, since it is always 1:1 with core frequency. Mem OC gets a little harder too, but I could still run tight timings at 125+ BCLK with 6100.
  19. We're heavily sandbagging this year, can't even lift the bags now, so heavy... Will leave it for next year, lol.
  20. I don't mean it is boring to bench cheap and useless hardware. That was not my point. I mostly bench this type of 'junk' myself anyway, but really agree with that last point about 10x0.1pt beat 9 top scores.
  21. Yes, but in our case we don't even have half the participants required. Noone is interested and you can see the activity throughout the year. Not only population, but also GDP plays a big role in this. But that's the rules of the game and it is the same in every sport. I'm not completely against the current way of doing it. Nothing is just black or white.
  22. If you do the math, then you will see you really need high-sky 8-cores WR. To compensate 80-100 points for the missing single core sub you will have to add that to your other scores. If they are not high enough you will still loose. How high should be your 8-cores WR? It should be a lot higher than what Aussies have at the moment assuming their other scores are mediocre. And if all 4 scores are equally high (in their respective category), then they can win either way. Ruling out the 1-core submission does not change much. It only gives chances to smaller countries that can't find anyone using single core cpu to bench for them. You can't skip the 2xXTU, just no way to compensate 700 points more. Well, if you don't submit with 6 or 4 cores, then you're not gonna win, because you have to compensate 2000-3000 points which is impossible. I still think the competition will be balanced enough. You will still need full set of scores to secure your first position. It can't happen with just one WR and mediocre 3 other scores. But of course, this is just my point of view.
