  1. 1 from second group, thanks.
  2. Get an universal one - it's a better investment.
  3. Bad, bad Michael! I will be a rebel then - save the quadro bios, then flash it again
  4. And what about the other way around. Are we allowed to flash a quadro with a geforce bios?
  5. Keep 'em coming, man I also have some good cards that need to be benched some day.
  6. Yes, true. All/most custom Gainward and Asus PCB use one of these NCP controllers and the only way is VID mod. Probably others too, but that's what I had. It's not that hard and in most cases you don't want to support all possible VIDs anyway. Sometimes not all VID pins have exposed resistor, they are just grounded. Maybe there's another way, but this is the most reliable one. After VID-modding the card there's no OVP anymore on the ones I've modded.
  7. Can the memory go higher? My best card (reference Asus) did 1120/1340 on water before it died mysteriously All my other 4890's are in the 1250-1290 range.
  8. Oh, you're back . Excellent result and great cooling. Keep up the good work!
  9. SM3 test 2 (Deep Freeze) seems to be bugged.
  10. Was looking back to these ranking and this is one of the few proper (aka efficient) Pi32M scores at the high frequency range. The top scores are fine, but when you go down the table there are so many awful scores. The SandyBridge effect - people getting lucky chips with easy overclock without actually knowing how to properly bench them.
  11. I wanted to try mod the bios, but the one cold slow bios for 9800 ref card linked on hwbot is exactly the same as one of the "stock" bioses on TPU. I can't find the "before" and "after" of this exact bios, so can't understand what is changed exactly, comparing with HEX editor.
  12. Great CPU and score. Congrats! Test it on LN2 if you can. Looking at your other scores, this CPU should be able to go higher.
  13. This is the exact same reason I run lower than even 5GHz, because I want to be honest and stay under the limit, no matter in theory it should hurt my score a little: I.nfraR.ed`s SuperPi - 32M score: 13min 24sec 78ms with a Phenom II X4 965 BE I don't remember the exact fluctuation, but this combination was the closest to 5GHz that did not abuse the 5003 limit. Don't feel like doing the math now though
  14. I can't agree here, sorry. Even if you buy e.g. an ES CPU from black market or someone else gives it to you as a gift, it is still an ES. It doesn't magically become a retail part. The thing is most of the time an ES CPU can be easily recognized by just looking at cpuz screen, while for other parts sometimes it is impossible (RAM for example). But I don't think re-selling or giving some ES as a gift effectively makes it non-ES. This board is not on Gigabyte site and at the current moment can't be purchased. If the group buy goes through, then it would be open to discussion again. BTW, I don't care about XTU, even though i have 742 result. This was the most boring bench session in my life. Thus not considering buying the Z170 LN2 board even if the group buy becomes a reality. I already have a Z170 board, that I don't use, don't need another one. Might be interested in Z270 though.
  15. stage 4, cinebench 03. It seems you're trying to make me get my dual MSI board out and hopefully kill my golden s.A CPUs. Ain't gonna happen
  16. Won't work for me either. It will be hard to sell high-end chips locally. Same goes for memory. Noone will buy my high-spec DDR4, simply because not many enthusiasts here have high-end Intel systems and if they do, most of the time they prefer cheaper OEM sticks. Just look at Bulgaria's active (extreme) overclockers... More expensive or newer component -> harder to sell. Or I have to sell it with huge loss. I've only done it once with SandyBridge. First I started with 2600K, but all I got was 5.1-5.2 max. After some tries, I had to start binning 2500K's due to money lost after selling rejects. Not much luck with them either - best was like 5.5. I got tired and bought a binned 5.7GHz 2500K and that's the highest I've seen in my country. It's not something great in the global picture with 6GHz chips existing. With 3700K I had some luck finding a decent chip back then after second try.
  17. 1 or 2 for me.
  18. Yes, that's what I remembered about gpuz. Checked mine and it is B1 (G92-420-b1). I had good reference 9800GTX 65nm long time ago, but killed it.
  19. My DK is 65nm A2, but I've never benched it on cold. Or at least that's how it is recognized, have to check on the chip itself next time I get it out.
  20. For phase you don't need much insulation. I use small bits of kneaded eraser around the socket and edges of the CPU to seal it, a neoprene gasket on the phase head and around the socket, also some paper towels to catch possible condensation and one neoprene sheet covering the whole back of the mobo which sits between the mb and back plate. Another thicker sheet on the desk where all this thing sits. But the general rule is better too much insulation than too little. I also have the back of the sockets on my motherboards covered with LET for extra protection. Never had issues with phase and AMD boards this way. You can also use LET on the top of the board around socket and covering the SMD components too.
  21. He quit benching. This is not benching, so the statement is still valid
