Well benching has never made me feel that way before. Things should be better smoother with next-gen! A night sleep has helped for sure

Very tempted to blame the board. Random power-downs, randomly lose keyboard during OS selection, randomly random. Randomly rock-solid then unbenchable. Randomly decides that any PWM setting other than "auto" means no POST. CMOS clear gives me a nice VGA coldbug because default setting is Gen 3.

ME is now installed. Easytune was/is still bricked. i'll take a video to show the problem in the morning.

Ok... had a shot with GTL. It does at least work, so i'm further ahead than I was Thanks for the headsup! Still have a problem though. Maybe I mis-interpreted what the software can do, but I need something that lets me downclock/ assign hotkey profiles for 3D06 CPU tests.... am I right in saying this software cannot do that for me?

As title. Taking it nice and easy on multiple chips at 2C/2T. Couldn't get much over 5.9GHz. I have a known good chip and still....5.9GHz boot. I got mad and tried 4C/4T.... and BOOM! straight in at 6.1GHz. WTF??

Is there any evidence that the GTS440 actually exists? I've been looking, the only mention of a GTS440 is in a wildly inaccurate table showing the lower-end 4-series which has totally wrong specs for the GTS450 and also talks about a GTS430....which I can't find either.

What if the IHS was noticeably thinner though? All ideas We need a bunch of guys to volunteer to lap their chips flat, then test, then grind down 1mm and lap, then test etc

What if there was a heatsink base that was so abrasive that it lapped the outer portion of the chip but stopped just short of removing the print in the middle? My heatsink made a start on that, clearly. My warranty is still intact. Flat is flat. We don't really want to remove 1mm of IHS height unless we want the same mounting mechanism workaround as removing the IHS completely Do you see what I mean? Or, of course for the best possible improvmenet, lap the whole surface and balls to the warranty. ES guys especially

I find it hard to recommend AMD for anything much. Even if an AMD chip is overclocked to compensate, the power consumption gets a bit crazy. Intel I3/I5 spanks them so hard and generally uses less power while doing it Something like an I5 2400 and a simple P67 or Z77 mobo would be great. Yes, it costs more, no it can't really be overclocked, but it will run cool and not use much power...and it will perform really well I think I would pick the 560. It performs better than the 6870, by (generally) a bigger % than the % extra power it uses. PSU.... I wouldn't buy anything less than 80Plus Silver a good quality 500W unit should be fine. It's hard to buy a bad mobo these days... most are good
