  1. Two counterarguments: Athlon64 and Sandy Bridge. Athlon64 had coldbug problems at sometimes positive temperatures, severely limiting the extreme overclocking community. A couple year later the same company produced CPUs that could handle Liquid Helium. Sandy Bridge not only had a terrible BCLK limitation compared to previous generations of hardware, but each CPU hard-walled at a specific frequency. This was terrible news for memory overclocking enthusiasts (max divider of 2133) and extreme overclockers. The architecture that followed Sandy Bridge could run "full pot" at 7 GHz. Just saying, I wouldn't panic too much based on the (very) contemporary situation.
  2. Well, for one you confuse the idea of "benchmark world records" with "extreme overclocking". You don't need to spend thousands of dollars to enjoy or even do extreme overclocking.

    DimasTech?

From Play3r.net: Dimastech Files For Bankruptcy - Benched For Good? - Play3r.net Update 00:56GMT 10/07/16 – Dimastech Systems Inc have contacted us via Facebook and stated that the USA section of the company has NOT filed for bankruptcy and has no ties with the Italian side of the business (which has filed for bankruptcy as can be seen here –*114/2016 Dimastech System di Alice Ghioni e c. snc nonch)

    DimasTech?

We're reaching out to the Italian authorities to find out if there's a way to make a claim. With a bit of 'luck', maybe those who are affected can be reimbursed this way. In the end, Dimastech is responsible for this and it would be more than just that he pays back what he owes. The hearing is on September 20, 2016. That's when we will have the final conclusion of this.

    DimasTech?

FYI, the company structure is an SNC meaning he is fully liable for bankruptcy. If he owns a home, it may be seized to pay off debts. The hearing is on September 20, 2016. For @Pulse88 and @Rosty it might be worth contacting f114.2016brescia@pecfallimenti.it to inquire about the money Dimas still owes.
  6. What is the temperature of the VRM around the CPU? Can you try putting a fan on the VRM to see if that helps? //edit: welcome to the overclocking community, hope you enjoy your stay!

    DimasTech?

Apologies for the insensitivity towards the people who were affected directly by Dimas' scams. My response was inappropriate for the situation and I should posted differently. I hope the situation does not affect you or your families too much. Once again my sincere apologies

    DimasTech?

As I had hoped to see this resolved for the forum members (as well as ourselves), it's a sad day for everyone involved. The fact that I don't align with your pitch-fork mentality says nothing about my respect towards the community. Check who started the thread to inform other community members

:( Thread's been up for about a year, I guess it was inevitable. Hope Dimas and family will get through this rough time well. Wish him the best!
  10. Thanks for bringing up the topic again. We are in the last testing phase of the latest spin of R7. I'm planning for an article this weekend to detail the last version on UAT. To answer your points: 1. Since the points will be based on the score in relation to the top score (and not the rank), it will not be possible to avoid same points for same scores. From a philosophical point of view, how can one make the argument that Person A's 742pts in XTU is worth less points than Person B's? 2. I'm open to any adjustments to the competition points. The point distribution was chosen arbitrarily, so I'm sure there's a lot left to optimize. From a more broader perspective, how would you classify and valuate the different competitions (online/live, extreme/amateur, qualifier/final, open/invite, ...)?
  11. More like: France wins => Dancop grabs WR Germany wins => Dancop DESTROYS WR :celebration:
  12. There's a lot of OC action in the Toronto area, I think. @Trouffman is going there pretty soon too for an event, if I remember correctly.
  13. Starting overclocking in the summer? Wow, you're brave What city are you from in Canada?
  14. Can someone quickly test with same frequency on the CPU? I guess we can just disallow BWD-E
  15. Nice! How do you like the GTX 1070 ?
  16. The FX-57 was over USD $1000 when it launched as fastest CPU in 2005
  17. WOW! Hope you have enough storage in your closet for all those RX 480 golden cups
