Ivy Bridge LGA1155 Z77 BIOS, facts, stats and list of mainboards
ME4ME replied to Massman's topic in Ivy Bridge (Z77) OC
Actually, i did experience the exact same problem. The board is very quick at posting and rebooting, also very good stability-wise. But sometimes it just won't get past POST. Profiles that i saved and worked for an hour of stability testing suddenly won't work after a simple reboot. It either freezes at POST, or when loading windows. Now for me it was no big deal, cause i was simply running on air. But running cold and than expiercing issues could be a pain, i can imagine. For me the best option was to have a reasenable safe-profile with CPU clock way down, load it, reboot, make sure it enters windows, and reboot and change what i initially wanted to change. Thanks to quick rebooting, it doesn't take alot of time. But still.. something is spooky.. Otherwise a great board. Love it. Both CPU and memory clocking great and really stable Edit: using a 2700K -
I know, im fine with it. Fully understand their decision. Just wanted to point out that is even has it's advantages

tbh, it's a pitty that there's no more live event for each continent but at least EVERYONE can now participate. Some people should give MSI some credit for that, after years of complaining
-
still black screens?! .. had that issue on reference card. Really hated it, it's so unpredictable.. But nice benching. Im sure you'll hit 1700 soon
-
I find that a very weak argument. If it had been banned, you'd just search for scores that seem to high and remove them. Just like scores using mipmap or other weird tricks, hwbot simply spot's and removes. No need to blame Futuremark.
-
well.. gotta agree. Tesselation disabled in a benchmark build around tesselation is strange to say the least... tbh i think this was a mistake by hwbot .. now there is no way back.
-
You totally missed the point, or maybe just ignored it. Either way, i think there is alot more negative to come by allowing MVP then positive. I really see no reason to use MVP here at Hwbot. All we want is benching and being able to compare score with others. Don't make it futher complicated and ad software that will be basically necessary to achieve a competitive score. Keep it simple, and let the hardware do the work.
-
I'll compensate for Dinos postive vote. Im greatly against using this MVP stuff. For gaming? .. sure, if it actually gives same quality graphics. But for competitive benchmarking, no. It messes up to much, and kills GPU overclocking in some extent. I see no reason why we would want to use it. I vote: no.

I don't like this kind of leaks tbh. It's very impressive, but: Manufacturers produce insane results -> Everyone is impressed -> Peope start benching themselves -> Everyone disappointed, cause they never reach these clocks. Pretty much like 7970. OC going way to corporate. Spoils the fun..

Done! Now Hwbot knows more about me then Google lol

for that price you can probably buy 5 Ivybridge chips, right now.

Overclocking is like time travelling. Once your PC is overclocked, it has the performance of future components!

GTX670 (GK104) next month. Should apparently be around 7950 performance. But maybe more OC headroom, and better cold scaling if it's anything like GTX580. -
You know you benched too much when... (Mean Machine going all in at MOA 2011)

i know a much better way... wait for Kepler -
How far would i travel for an OC event? -> go pretty much anywhere in the world. Max flight time set to 20 hours total tho. Stockholm-Taipei is about maximum. How much would i pay for it? -> max 300 euro's if it's really worth it. Usually that is what train tickets + preparation and random thing costs to join MOA.

nice! Did you buy the Epower and EVbot yourself? If yes, where? would love to get one myself, but hard to find in europe.

so stupid .. why did Asus place that choke and cap there right above the GPU. Rest of the card look great. Maybe they're trying to force overclockers to buy Matrix...
