Hello ! Version 2701 has appeared, who can add PortBios?

It's out of any useful improvements.

Well, I would still like the latest version))

Hi everyone, I'm new here, I've just read through this topic from the beginning and have some question. Can anybody help me?

First, I have an M9A mainboard with default BIOS version 0701, and as I read, I can flash the modded BIOS to make it work with QTJ2 without any hardware mod, right?

I also read that I can use the unlock modded BIOS 2301 so I dont have to mess with the hardware (I'm not good at this), so if I use the 2301 unlock to flash, I need to rename it to M9A.cap and use the BIOS Flashback right?

I cant find the description of the modded BIOS, so I want to ask if 2301 modded unlock BIOS can support the QTJ2?

Thank you for your time.

As I know you cannot flash modded bios over stock one with asus flashback feature. You need to use bios hardware programmer to reflash it. I recommend to flash v. 2603, it supports all modded laptop cpu's.

Hi everyone, I'd like to ask a question, I'm modified my Maximus IX Extreme motherboard to work with Coffelake cpus ( pinmod and the unlock for bios flash then dump and modified my bios successfully) Do i have to isolate the pads on the cpus I like to use?

See the first post!

NOTE!

Do the bios flash after hardware mods are done  !!! Soldering cpu pads is not needed  .

Known issue is that HT does not work currently on 6c cpu's hence it is disabled by default. After everything is set-up board will work with cofee lake based cpu's as well as with older cpu's without issue.

Have fun !

Okey, so I've been reading this thread front to back a couple of times and decided to give it a shot myself. I can't seem to get past flashing the dsanke 2603 bios, using a 4gb gen.2 usb with bios renamed to creative.rom... When flashing using flashback and shorting the pins to unlock for modded bios, the bios light flashes 3-4 times as normal then stays on forever. It just doesn't want to flash the the bios it seems, could someone help me out?

Maximus IX Apex + 7700K (9900KS when I can manage to flash the bios)

I'm on I think an older Dsanke mod for my Apex IX. To upgrade to the resizebar supported bios can I use fptw64 (flash programming tool)  to flash it? All my FD descrptors are unlocked.

Thanks

Hi,

Was wondering what cpu's do not require soldering or pin pad mods to work with this bios? On ver 2603.  Don't want to risk damaging the board or cpu.

Thanks.

Just kaby lake based CPUs, so the dual and quad core chips.

So an 8700K wouldn't work without modifications to the pin pads?

What about a i3 9350K. Was told those require no modifications.

Thanks

Can someone repost photos on first post describing and showing the solder job on the nuvatron gnd resistors. Its no longer there. Thanks.

Yes 9350K would work and 8700K wouldn't.

As for the mod:

Did a lot of reading regarding those solder mods you have to make and if I understand you need two pairs of pinsconnected either with direct solder and another with wire. Its something maybe one day I'll try but I already have Dsanke's latest 2603 bios version installed. Desire to be able to run Windows 11 without roadblocks from microsoft.  Thats why if the 9350K doesn't need mods I'll go with it but fact it only has 4 threads makes me take a moment to think about it...

Thanks

Only need the one mod I showed with the boardview, the other is for flashing the bios, which you already did. Pretty easy thing to solder, and you can use so much better CPUs.

That diagram is a little confusing.

Solder a wire between the red circle and any yellow (ground) point. Easiest one is probably the biggest component: OU1C129 , which is the same place that the image in the post I linked used. Though could also do the shorted possible run by going right across to OR661.

Saw this on a techpowerup thread: https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/adventure-running-8-9th-gen-coffee-lake-cpus-on-z170-motherboard-asus-maximus-viii-ranger.284375/
