Posted February 29, 20205 yr Does anyone have some tips or improvement of A2 B-die on X299OCF? I am able to run just 3733 12 12 @ around 1,75v, nothing above
February 29, 20205 yr Same results here, A2 overclocking is rubbish on my X299 OCF. It's quite strange since older Z170 MOCF is fine with A2.
February 29, 20205 yr I can offer some advice maybe. A2 likes higher vdimm. 1.85-1.95 here. Can you post which memory and your settings voltage and timings please. A2 actually works better than A0 for me ? Edited February 29, 20205 yr by Splave

I tried the 4000C12 profile and G.Skill RGB 4600C18 1.85-2.05V, no post. With A0 this preset can post. Edited February 29, 20205 yr by aerotracks

March 1, 20205 yr Author Thank you @Splave As @aerotracks my A2 kit (4266 19-19-19 g.skill tridentz rgb) doesn't like 4000 12-12 profile, instead A0 kit 3200c14 can manage that profile. Cpu is 7740X Edited March 1, 20205 yr by superpatodonaldo
March 2, 20205 yr Pulled out the X299 OCF + 7740x and tested some medicre A2 B-die in the guise of XPG D80 3600C17. P1.90 bios, passes 32M wazza. Hope this helps. Edited March 2, 20205 yr by sabishiihito
March 2, 20205 yr Never tried any A2 on X299, Kaby or Sky X but I remember even with A0 on Kaby X 4133 12-11 wasn't exactly easy at least on early bios's. Glad to see you guys testing this since I think most of not all future platforms will favor A2.

March 2, 20205 yr also vdimm is real on x299 ocf so mocf is +0.06-+0.08 from bios set also enable xmp is needed for over 3800+ on some sticks helps with training
March 2, 20205 yr Author Strangely today can boot and close geek3 @ 3866 12 12 profile, maybe tomorrow 4000 12 12 capable? ??
March 2, 20205 yr Stability goes down with more VDIMM. XMP is enabled. 1.85V VDIMM 1866MHz 12-11 max stable 2.00V VDIMM: 1666MHz 12-11 max stable

TRFC 240 need TCWL 9 because its throwing off the RTL too loose. Sometimes A2 needs IOL 6/7 and a little different RTL. I will dust my kaby off an join you tomorrow. I think the main issue is the bios, can you try 1.20 ?

Another thing, just using BIOS defaults and then loading XMP I can train 4360 and no higher. I then looked in to QVL and supported 4600 kits are all A0 while fastest A2 set is 4333 speed. Coincidence or is this max MHz for A2 on the board?
March 3, 20205 yr I tried P1.20 First 12-11, clocks still drop with more voltage. 1.85V VDIMM 1866MHz, 2V VDIMM 1800MHz Then I switched to TRCD 12: 2V 1933MHz 12-12 2V 2000MHz 16-12 Going from 1933MHz to 2000MHz... no post with 1T, no post with C12,13,14,15
March 3, 20205 yr IO&SA 1.25V, I tried more and less volts and it doesn't seem to be a factor. I cross checked mems yesterday and they are working ok, this is my working preset from Z270 Apex Edited March 3, 20205 yr by aerotracks
March 3, 20205 yr could be the IMC Ive had some that cant do 4k at all. Was A0 working fine for you or also no 4k ? will join you shortly
