OBR Posted January 15, 2012 Author Posted January 15, 2012 ive told ya ... more details of my Xeon setup soon ... awaiting permission from intel for little preview Quote
Massman Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 So Asrock will bring us BCLK ratios with 8core Xeon? Quote
Christian Ney Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 ive told ya ... more details of my Xeon setup soon ... awaiting permission from intel for little preview I ''can'' preview it not under NDA and I have a chip but don't have the ASRock Extreme9 though Quote
OBR Posted January 15, 2012 Author Posted January 15, 2012 massman - not only ASRock I have completed full Review for our magazine, but cause good relationship with intel will wait for permission ... for at least preview Quote
Massman Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Asus too I presume. Who else? Btw, do you think I should swap in my 3960X and look for this kind of Xeon? Quote
Hondacity Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 andre-sus and el-msi? lol OMG that Xeyown is expensive Quote
K404 Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 For lower-power cards, with just a mild OC it will shunt 100% bottleneck to GPU....... you will never need to worry about CPU power again...focus 100% on GPU clocks. *scared face* Quote
Cyras Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 ASrock engineers do a really good job. Pictures from the old Stepping. and 2 Cores with 4000MHz Quote
Mean Machine Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Jesus fucking christ, what a retarded image upload service. Quote
gplnpsb Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 (edited) Tested with the little Brother. @ 3960MHz Sorry to bump this thread, but I may have an explanation for why that Xeon ES appears to be able to use a baseclock strap ratio. The number of cores, clockspeed, and cache all appear to match the 3960X, suggesting that this may be a qualification sample of the Xeon E5-1660, the Xeon equivalent of the 3960X. If the pattern follows the i7-990X and the W3680, the UP E5-1660 and 1650 should have unlocked multipliers and strap ratios. That would explain the anomalous success with this Xeon, with the many reports of non-functioning strap ratios on the DP Xeon engineering samples. Edited February 7, 2012 by gplnpsb Quote
Cyras Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 You are right! The 6 Core Xeon like E5-1660 has working Strap Profiles, but XEON 8 Cores CPU doesn't have BCLK strap, it only can set bclk=100 strap, FYI. You can read the more here.. http://www.hardwareluxx.de/community/f219/asrock-x79-extreme3-4-m-4-7-und-9-intel-x79-855586-9.html#post18351490 Quote
K404 Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 I can't decide if i'm happy or sad the 8-core is useless for OCers Quote
mosie Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Perssonaly I m so sad ............ But wait test with no ES or ORB information. Quote
