Here is a true story that happened to me, so a little bit more than one year ago I bought an OCZ Vertex SSD 30 GB OCZSSD2-1VTX30G (230 MB/s(Read) 135 MB/s (write) and 85 MB/s (Substained write)). like on the following picture: http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/3618/oczssd21vtx30g.png 3 months ago the ocz vertex died, so I went to their website and asked for rma. rma approved, I sent my ssd to them. Here is what they send back to me, a new OCZ Vertex SSD 30 GB OCZSSD2-1VTX30G. What so lovely to find written on the box the following specs: Read: 210 MB/s Write: 75 MB/s Substained Write: 25 MB/s http://img832.imageshack.us/img832/680/img0214qc.jpg'>http://i…

Notebooks are always a good solution to instead of desktop PCs for most users. Years ago I always heard my family or friends said that they want to build up new PCs, but in recent years, that voice often become which notebook is better for them to choose. If users are not demanding on usually upgrade hardware, notebooks always a better solution with higher mobility and better convenience. The main usage of notebooks comes with 2 types, you might need to analysis your usage before you buy your own laptop. The first one is business or long time trip, which will need longer battery life and light weight, performance will not be in the high priority. The second usage …

To make a long story short, a long time ago, I dropped a cpu in the socket of my MIIF and it bent up some pins, so I figured the board was a gonner. I put it on a shelf to use for parts. I ended up removing one of the VRM heatsinks from the board and used it on a video card, and ended up misplacing the heatsink I removed. Later on, I was diagnosing a buddy's computer to see if his cpu was fried. At the time, the only board I had available to even try was the maximus II formula, so I pulled it down off the shelf, got out an exacto blade and magnifying glass and bent the pins back. I put the cpu in and it posted no problem. Now I want to put the board back in commis…

Hi, Strange issue here.. I have a old 2600PRO ddr3 and wanted to play with it to get some results. Installed voltmods etc to get going. Then strange thing occurs.. Till 860 core clock no problems, still on default voltage and 100% stable. Then I wanted to raise the core clock to 910 (for this example) and than GPU-Z shows 40! That means that from 870 on it starts counting at 0 again. If i set 910 core clock in Msi afterburner, rivatuner detects that 910 has been set, but gpu-z says 40. Also benches crash when starting, so it is really 40. And if i raise the core clock in rivatuner it up's again as normal.. Till I reach 860+ again. What can this be…

I have a(nother) problem with my 9800GX2. I flashed the BIOS and I thought everything was ok. Now, when I boot, I get an error with PCB1. GPU-Z comes up as below: Heres GPU-Z for the 2nd PCB.... no problems here I have tried flashing the BIOS and in nVFlash, it sees the different BIOS revisions fine, so at *some* level, the data is going onto the BIOS chip.... AND.... when I install/reinstall drivers, it sees the BIOS revision on PCB1 before the restart..... it just falls apart when I restart. Does anyone have any ideas whats going on? Voltages are being supplied to the card as expected. Thanks! K

I know that some people may be aware of the bug with the llano's and their unlock bug. In that while increaseing multiplier little or no performance increase can be found. However the problem I see is that for valids such as cpuz the chip does not validate correctly normally. You can see this by looking at any valid uploaded with v1.58 of cpuz. For most benchmarks this isn't a big deal. As its really down to the performance of the chip. Not the clock obtained. However its possible to blast off a valid at 5800+mhz. Whats to happen if you submit a benchmark with a clock speed that shows up as such. Is it gonna immediately get thrown into the black hole of the bad s…

Hello all, this is my first post. Today I overclocked my CPU to 3.72Ghz and I wanted to run all the 3D benchamrks. In 3D Mark 01 my card usually had a utilization of 25-30% and 250-300 fps. Today the card was @ 99% and i had the same or lower FPS. I opened CCC and saw some quality options, turned them all to performance but nothing. Uninstalled CCC, nothing. What's wrong? This also applies in games, e.g in COD4 i used to have 60 fps with 50% utl. and now i have 90-99%!!! What should i do? I tried a reinstallation of the drivers with Driver sweeper...

I just bought a i5 670 from stupid ebay and I am having a wierd problem. The chip will boot, I can get into bios but that is it. I thought maybe it was motherboard but it happens on 3 motherboards one of which is brand new. I contacted seller and we will see how that goes but im not optimistic. Just wondering if this has ever happend to any of you. I have used a 670 on two of the three boards but it was an ES chip ( not sure if that matters) two of the motherboards have been modded for coldbug one is brand new like I said. Is chip dead??? or am I missing something? Now im stuck benching 650 with coldbug @ -90 Motherboards tested ga-p55a-ud7 (not modded) msi-p55-gd85…

Hey all, I've been having a bit of fun with the database and pulled this chart from it. The unofficial mark means that I didn't put a lot of effort in taking out the false positives (eg: user indicated wrong motherboard), but these should be quite minimal. This chart shows the amount of unique overclockers that use a certain mainboard brand over time. Note: one person can use multiple brands! We can see that: - 1/2 overclockers use ASUS - 1/3 also use GIGABYTE This is pretty interesting, because it kind of points to the situation where a lot of people are convinced of the quality of an ASUS mainboard (well, 50% does not use one!), but more and more people wi…

Most Gamers use game console or computer to play many games. For PC game users, 3D games’ video and audio effects are very important. First of all, for better visual effects, the users need good VGA and large LCD monitor. For the audio, I suggest hi-end audio chips and Gaming speakers for better audio. If you use computer long time every day, I think LCD, Keyboard and Speaker are worth to invest. Many people use their monitor, keyboard and speaker for 5~10 years. Investing better quality peripherals can let you feel more comfortable and longer life. These peripherals contact your sense directly. Better equipment can avoid your uncomfortable feeling. USA CORS…

I wanted to spend some time with an Asus Commando today, well I bought those boards so I want to clock them I chose to not be cpu limited nor memory limited so I used an E8400 (can do 540FSB+ afaik) and OCz Reaper (630MHz+). I tried the whole day to clock this board, no way... can boot 380FSB into windows 7. But not 400 no 401 no 450 no 500 even if under windows I can move to 460FSB with setFSB. As on the BIOS there is not so much settings, I tried a buch of settings combinations. Still no way to boot above 380MHz FSB. Is there some Magic settings like ''Enable pll overvolt for Sandy Bridge'' that I missed ?

Hi guys. Yesterday a new ASUS GTX 560 Ti DirectCU II arrived to my hands. After install the latest available driver downloaded from nVidia's web site (not beta driver), i did some quick test with Aquamark and 3DMark 2001, just to find that performance isn't what I was waiting for. Aquamark 1- GTX 260 192 SP did ~222 marks at stock clocks 655/1050/1480 2- GTX 560 Ti did ~207 marks at stock clocks 830/1002/1660 3DMark 2001 1- GTX 260 190 SP did ~48 marks at stock clocks 655/1050/1480 2- GTX 560 Ti did ~48 marks (yeah, the same) at stock clocks 830/1002/1660 Both ran on Win 7 x64 without tweak on 3DMark, but tweak on Aquamark for use all CPU cor…
