LOL are you asking us to talk about who is fat? That would be unkind!

I get the nasty feeling that I rejected & sold a potentially good card because it appeared to have a hardlimit at 999MHz core.... My mistake? Using nV 300-series drivers..... FAIL

nVidia 4 series + nvlddmkm.sys errors. Solutions?

Bump because I still have problems I don't see how I could be the only one -
Chicken and egg. Does no-one use it because it sucks, or does it suck because no-one uses it? nVidia advertise this. Every time they drop the ball on something that costs a user so much money, a user goes over to ATI. Dear nVidia. I would like a job validating your tri-SLI and Quad-SLI driver performance.

I'm surprised a problem as big as this was allowed to leave the lab To make £1400+ of GPUs perform like £250 is NOT COOL.
-
Yea, let's all just accept the things we don't like and never think of ways to change or improve them.

Thread necro! I have tried 173.67 but it will not create an nVidia folder for me to replace the .inf. Does it have to be installed using a 9800GX2 to start with? (for people reading, 173.67 is by default, a GX2-only driver) EDIT: Might have 9600GSO working with 169.21 Back in 5 after a 3DMark run (if it works) EDIT 2: BOOM!

Vote: sandbagging in Pro league only :p :p I'm joking, but if that did happen, I really really wouldn't complain.

06 has been crazy the last two days! -
It doesn't matter when a competition is, there will be someone who struggles to find the time, even if they have notice. BUT..... give people notice. I "ran" a competition once on Benchtec at zero notice and boy, did I get some flaming
-
Yea, I was thinking about that too. For the people who have one or two CPU/board/memory combos at a time and stick with them for a while P.S..... entry fields for RAM timings need fixed. Default box is to enter in "the old way" e.g. one data box with "7-9-7," but when a user tries to submit, it errors out and offers a field for each timing. CAS is filled in, the others are blank.

Please can someone share the coldslow/ Xtreme BIOS for the Gigabyte GTX480 SOC? Thanks!

51K broken in 3D06 -
Agree with Christian. Your best is your best and it'll either be beaten or it won't be. I hate sandbagging though, especially in hardware categories. I've never done it and I can't think of a situation where i'd change that.

What will happen to Johns rankings & points while he is suspended?

That's awesome! You've met Massman....and you say that :p I've also thought about a for sale section on HWB. Like OCBay.... put people might actually use it.

Another future idea :)
K404 replied to K404's topic in HWBOT Development: bugs, features and suggestions
I'd rather go the other way. Personally, I don't think many scores between silver and gold are worth a 25% difference in points. I'd rather see gold worth less (hence my idea in the original post) unless they really ARE good scores, OR.... all the other scores are worth more. The idea of a big lead = "more" points just so happens to have an effect on the point of sandbagging -
IMO, the problem will only change if/when GPUs stop doubling in power every 12-18 months and CPUs start to scale in performance faster than ~10-15% every generation. It's kinda weird.... a lot of people are happy if a new CPU adds 10% performance, but if a new GPU is less than 50% better, people complain or refuse to buy it.

What if it was limited to popular categories (gold = 40 points or more) ? I wasn't thinking of making the categories worth *more* points, the same points as now are only awarded for big leads. ie..... a 2point gold is only worth 2 points if it's done with a big lead (whatever % is decided) -
I'm not sure. I'm ok with having clear and easy to follow rankings and leaderboards. You are benching XYZ, so it is ranked individually as XYZ, instead of users having to check if GHI is included as well, if you know what I mean? Also, benching e.g.... 3-way GPU is partly for the challenge of benching 3-way GPU. Most benchmarks scale more with CPU than GPU, so i'd be more interested in seeing e.g... AM3 reclassed as a CPU benchmark, which is "the other way" of dealing with your suggestion.

At the moment, there is a big exponent at the top of each ranking- especially silver-gold. (hardware- 25%, global- ~34%) What if there was a smaller (default) points difference between silver and gold, UNLESS the #1 score was x% higher than silver? ie... bigger lead = a few more points. It should prevent sandbagging to some extent and it might help encourage people who think gold is beyond their skills/hardware to push hard for a strong silver because it will take some points away from the guy in 1st place.

Thanks The card is part-bricked, so i'm back to binning Got my eye on a couple things on Ebay, so hopefully i'll bench the category again soon Damn core won't go over 972MHz now. Dunno what happened. Tried multiple times on multiple boards. -

Next time you are benching or testing PCM05, please can you take a high quality video of trans windows? I think 324000 would be quite funny to watch I don't understand your score, but that's a very big #1! Congrats on hitting 100K! -
I think that pic, slong with the pic of Andres table covered in Gulftown sums up the pro league
