What I wanted to say is: just like with any other memory type transition, the first gen of the new stuff is slower than the last gen of the old stuff. But from second and third generation, new stuff will beat old stuff.

December 27, 20159 yr Administrators If I remember correctly, DDR4 is around for 18 months now on retail non server. And DDR3 was almost instantly faster than DDR2, because it was used on same platform, GTR and such stuff were realeased at same time as X38 chipset.
