bartman1973 Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 I love this thread ...the retail cpu that cant previously pass 4.9ghz can now do 5.15Ghz with just 1.464v on core ! Quote
Massman Posted January 6, 2011 Author Posted January 6, 2011 BTW What is this PLL overvoltage 'problem'? I've not had any PLL voltage issues so far. No one knows what it is exactly (apart from Intel I guess). Rumours go it's not even a voltage, but some MSR setting that got adjusted. Quote
kirbster Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 I still cannot get my UD4 with the modded F6x bios to make any difference at all. I am using one of several F5 bioses available on GBT ftp. None of those makes any difference either. Does anyone here have a UD4 we can compare bios settings with to see if I cant get a bit more out of mine? Hard wall at 4.7. Completely stable, nice and cool, temps around 65C max (Intel Burn Test). If i try 4.8 i usually end up with an auto reflash from the backup BIOS. Quote
Massman Posted January 6, 2011 Author Posted January 6, 2011 I tested the UD4 and went from 4890 to 5288MHz. The F5 bioses don't have the fix, I think. The F6x is the one with the override setting (which needs to be enabled) Quote
kirbster Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Yes, and for my chip at least, it does nothing! Must just have one of those chips that wont go. Any other changes in the bios you are making? Vtt/PLL? Quote
Massman Posted January 6, 2011 Author Posted January 6, 2011 You are using a D2, right? VTT = 1.24V PLL = 1.7V Neither settings were important, though. Quote
kirbster Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Yup D2, i hope a Bios update will solve, but according to info out there some chips just won't go any higher. Time will tell. I am supposed to get a UD7 as well, I will try the same chip when i get it and see if the board has any effect at all. Eventually i may just buy another retail cpu as well and play some cpu roullette! Quote
bartman1973 Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 UD5 BIOS rocks bigtime but ud7 not as expected ...can boot at 48 multi but even if I adjust the bclk by 101 ...windows will lockup already ...new bios for ud7 please Quote
bartman1973 Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 hmmm ignore my previous post ... re-flashed the UD& and now benching at 5.15ghz again Quote

Once I had that I was able to play at 50+ and also move my BLK up and down. Now it is time to sleep. Edited January 8, 2011 by 1Day Quote

1Day Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 All I did was reinstall the BIOS had to do it 3 times before it took. Or before it made any difference. Make sure that you set your vcore to 1.400 or higher depending on your CPU or it will not post at 5GHz, the other stuff is on auto at this point. Go into your CPU options and set the PLL overvoltage 'hidden' option that this bios provides. That was it. Quote
kirbster Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Had some luck today. Stable 5188mhz @ 1.58V. Got greedy and tried 54x. Got an automated bios reflash. I am using different ram, but i dont think that was it. Thanks! Gonna keep playing. Quote
Massman Posted January 8, 2011 Author Posted January 8, 2011 Had some luck today. Stable 5188mhz @ 1.58V. Got greedy and tried 54x. Got an automated bios reflash. You can avoid the reflash by just shutting down the power supply for like 30s. If everything goes well, the board'll try to boot from the right bios again. Works most of the time here ... sometimes it takes 5-10x repeating the PSU shutdown, though. Quote
Massman Posted January 8, 2011 Author Posted January 8, 2011 Haven't picked up on it ... no idea. Quote

sincx Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Pt1t, are you getting these files from the manufacturers, or are you modding them somehow? If it's the latter, can you share how you're doing it? I'd like a version of the file for my (cheap-ass) P67A-UD3. Thanks. Quote
