March 30, 201114 yr Foxconn Dreadnought and Asus PinoNoir come to mind..... it does happen sometimes, but I don't think the X58A-OC is going to be an example of hyped-> canned Asus PinotNoir And the Asus Marine Cool too

Why did they shorten the NB heatsink on the memory side? I could see maybe making it smaller for more room in the CPU socket area, but they didn't need to shorten the width towards the memory because nothing goes there. The silver metal sticking out under the NB stands out like a sore thumb I know looks aren't everything and this does not affect the OC-ability, but still.... Hopefully that will at least be painted black in the final retail revision. Edited March 30, 201114 yr by Lsdmeasap
March 31, 201114 yr This looks like a retail board: right heatsink orange DIMM holders and grey SATA port. Which board ?
March 31, 201114 yr i guess its really lunching... http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c5/hondacity25/71dd68ed.png AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGHHHHH !! How is it possible that marketeers are using the very small space for words to brag about USB3.0 capability.
March 31, 201114 yr ...meanwhile, inside Marketing Man's head: "Wow, what's that crap mobo... it doesn't have nothing interesting to speak about! It should be something like low low low end mobo... allright let's see... WAIT it has usb3 ports! Here it is, finally something, on this silly mobo, to speak about!" :D
March 31, 201114 yr Instead of USB3.0 they should have promote massman's design FTW Edited March 31, 201114 yr by Christian Ney
March 31, 201114 yr Somewhere in Europe, in a far far away galax.. ehr... country, Pieter was looking at the public presentation of the X58A-OC: "WTF, USB3 advertising?!?"
March 31, 201114 yr Here is the launch gallery (if you clic ) Little foretaste: Which board ? btw, I prefer MSI girls EDIT: Seems it's the same link and pic as massman -.-
March 31, 201114 yr Crew Either that is a freaking huge board or the booth babe holding it is tiny ...
April 5, 201114 yr They only need to make a dedicated oc board Rampage Extreme, Classifieds was long time before OC boards. World first OC board? That's even not funny mktg BS.
April 5, 201114 yr No, there aren't OC boards, we use them for OC, ok But then aim gamers aka Designed for gamers Edited April 5, 201114 yr by Christian Ney hide signature
April 5, 201114 yr Rampage Extreme, Classifieds was long time before OC boards. World first OC board? That's even not funny mktg BS. Rampage Extreme - useless features = OC board Classified - useless features = OC board It's not because you cán overclock, it's an overclocking board. It's not because you add OC features, it's an overclocking board. It's not because you add high quality components, it's an overclocking board. The "World's first"-claim is just the MKT way of trying to send the message. Funny/BS/..., doesn't matter. It's just marketing.
April 5, 201114 yr Wow such a polemic here Hey TiN when do we shall see YOUR "OC board" ?! ClassyWDE (Walking Dead Edition) You forget the Commando in your list too... but right ROG are aiming gamers at first
April 5, 201114 yr Author It's not because you cán overclock, it's an overclocking board. It's not because you add OC features, it's an overclocking board. It's not because you add high quality components, it's an overclocking board. Oh rly? So we can have crap PWM, and be stuck in BIOS always....as long as we mimic GBT's non-useless features layout. Great power delivery and overclocking features are the things that define a good overclocking board, not whether they left off a couple ports and had an internal struggle trying to figure out if they could get away with it.
April 5, 201114 yr Gigabyte employees have admitted they kept certain features so the board appealed to a wider market, so to be devils advocate, X58A-OC - useless features = OC board? The thing that makes a great overclocking board is... that it overclocks well. Feature set is irrelevant, other than cost aspect. This might be a great board... we don't know because theres still so damned little info on it! Edited April 5, 201114 yr by K404
