Hampti Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Pah the perfect competition for me but my new cascade is damaged. maybe i give my ss a try. Quote
M.Beier Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 (edited) Wow... So many impressive results that will come out of this, congrats.... If ORB was up with 01SE scores, you'd see that top5 would look very different.... Even I, with sucky results (which you have reminded me about 700 times in March), would have made top3 on s479 list... (also with x1900XTX) Got the approval link still; http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=8961677 49634 T2600 @ 3421mhz X1900XTX water.. XP, not win2k Edited April 1, 2011 by M.Beier Quote
vipernet Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Nice competition! Can see the socket 478 record going with some 945chipset socket 478 mobos having pci-e. Tempted to rig up one of the socket 370 board I have on my wall and find the best agp card I have lying about to see what I get Would dual socket 370 be legal? Quote
placid Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Hey.. where is socket 754 ? I only have this one Quote
Crew Antinomy Posted April 2, 2011 Crew Posted April 2, 2011 Massman, s479 is Pentium M/ Celeron M 3xx only. T2600 and other Yonah cores are Socket M. The later Merom cores are Socket P. So wipe out the Core/Core2 out of the rankings. Or clear this out. Cause when people say socket 940 they don't mean AM2, right? So 479 is not Pentium M/P. Oh, and besides, the Socket M and Socket P are s478 Quote
Massman Posted April 2, 2011 Author Posted April 2, 2011 Socket M? http://www.anandtech.com/show/2000/2 Quote

Massman Posted April 2, 2011 Author Posted April 2, 2011 Ok, moved Yonah and Merom CPUs. Gonna recalc de 479 record list Quote
egm_xt Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 Very nice competition but why no socket 754??? Quote
Massman Posted April 3, 2011 Author Posted April 3, 2011 No special reason. 5 stages is already quite a lot. Quote
egm_xt Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 OK. Thank you Massman. My NF4-X will have to wait. It would be my best chance but lets try the other sockets. Quote
sparkey247 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 they make a socket s478 to s775 adapter, is that allowed? Quote
Mr.Scott Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 they make a socket s478 to s775 adapter, is that allowed? Of course it is. You're using a 478 CPU, right? Quote
Massman Posted April 5, 2011 Author Posted April 5, 2011 HW limitation is on CPU side, meaning you can use all the adapters you want. Quote
Bones Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 OK. Thank you Massman. My NF4-X will have to wait. It would be my best chance but lets try the other sockets. Awww.... That's too bad guys, maybe we'll have something with 754 later... Quote
egm_xt Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 That would be great! I can´t wait for it ... Bones Quote
Massman Posted April 8, 2011 Author Posted April 8, 2011 Any particular challenges on S754 that you'd be interested in? Quote
egm_xt Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 (edited) One idea for a challenge would be that since socket 754 (and 478/479) are from the time there was the change from AGP to PCI-e and you can find boards for both types, why not do a couple of 3D benchmarks allowing 754 (and/or 478/479) with video cards up to the point you can find both AGP and PCI-e (nvidea up to geforce 7 series and ati up to series HD3000 or HD4000, I believe). There are socket 775, 939 and even AM2 and may be others with AGP and PCI-e boards also but that might miss the point. It may be too complicated but well it is an idea... Bones Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 I agree with the above - Cards based on both GPU types can be ran on Socket 754 along with standard PCI cards too. I'd also like to see something else besides GPU benching done for variety, maybe 1024M WPrime runs too? We're currently running some PI benchies in a contest or two and this would be something different but not ruling either of those out. Since many AGP cards don't like or even in a few cases run some of the newer 3D benchies, I'd suggest something compatable for all. Quote
Barton Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 (edited) Massman, that would be great. A four part S754 challlenge. Two video card challenges and two long processor benchmark challenges. 1) PCMark 05 2) 3DMark 01 3) Super Pi 32m 4) WPrime 1024m The two long processor benchmarks will be a worthy challenge for all of us. They involve more fine tuning and benchmark skills that the short ones, IMO. Let's do it for May 2011. April is already has a good Challenge. ================================================== Edit: Following up on Bones, idea, How about a six part challenge? 1) PCMark 05 - open class for any video card 2) PCMark 05 - limited to AGP and plain PCI video cards only 3) 3DMark 01 - open class for any video card 4) 3DMark 01 - limited to AGP and plain PCI video cards only 5) Super Pi 32m 6) WPrime 1024m Edited April 9, 2011 by Barton Quote
