Massman Posted November 19, 2011 Author Posted November 19, 2011 How does it work for the average if say only 4 people from a country participate? The average may be higher than a country with 5 participants. Will they still be considered higher in the ranking because the average is higher? Does it rank based on number of valid entries and then by average? The countries are ranking by: - amount of scores - average of scores So, a team with bad average but with all 5 scores will always be ranked higher than a team with great average but only 4 scores. Strat Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Heyo! A little question, can somebody make several submissions? And the best one count? Or is it one shot? Quote
Massman Posted November 20, 2011 Author Posted November 20, 2011 You can make several submissions and the engine will detect your best one. Do note, though, that tactics also come in play. You need to communicate with fellow countrymen so you're sure you don't block anyone else's best score. For instance: - User A: 1500p with GTX285, 1450p with GTX275 - User B: 1499p with GTX285, 1300p with GTX275 - User C: 1400p with GTX280, 1200p with GTX275 The engine will calculate: AVG of GTX285 (user A) + GTX280 (user C) + GTX275 (user B) = 1400p. However, since user A has a much better score with the GTX275 than user B, the smart thing to do would be for user A to not submit with his GTX285 but leave that for User B. The, the engine will see: - User A: 1450p with GTX275 - User B: 1499p with GTX285, 1300p with GTX275 - User C: 1400p with GTX280, 1200p with GTX275 And the result would be: AVG (1499p (285) + 1400p (280) + 1450p (275)) = 1449.66p This kind of tactics are only necessary on the very last day of a stage, though. You can just submit all scores now and afterwards check which you're going to use for the final score. Quote
Strat Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Thank for that complete answer mister Massman Quote
xoqolatl Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 This kind of tactics are only necessary on the very last day of a stage, though. Unless you're not playing the backup game and submit your best score right away Quote
Massman Posted November 20, 2011 Author Posted November 20, 2011 It's technically not a "backup game" if you don't submit your lesser scores first. You're describing the "sandbagging game" Quote
xoqolatl Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Pardon my ignorance, I'm not familiar with the devious ways of pro overclockers... Quote
subaruwrc Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 it's real good, that a core i7 920 with 2c/2t or even a 2500k with 2 cores enabled, doesn't fullfill " use 2 cores in total " .... Quote
Moose83 Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 can´t make a submission, every time i try, it means, i have no verification link but i have one Quote
Massman Posted November 20, 2011 Author Posted November 20, 2011 can´t make a submission, every time i try, it means, i have no verification link but i have one Add/remove the '2011' from the URL and then it should work. Quote
I.nfraR.ed Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Is it possible to change the numbers of the stages according to the original diagram? It's confusing when talking about certain stage. Quote
Massman Posted November 21, 2011 Author Posted November 21, 2011 I can't change the stages on the competition page (they're all linked up with the limitations etc). I can make another diagram, I think. Why don't you mention the stages by their title? Quote
Hondacity Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 I think we shouldn't allow any member to change country when the competition has already started... Quote
Saito Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 (PS: ES not allowed! ) what does it mean? Quote
Massman Posted November 21, 2011 Author Posted November 21, 2011 You can't use Engineering Samples for this competition. All samples must be retail. Quote
cnzdrn Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 I have a question for amd 3d11. Rog Xpander is not retail, is allowed? Quote
Massman Posted November 21, 2011 Author Posted November 21, 2011 According to Asus, the Xpander is actually retail. So, as we follow the decision of the vendor, it is allowed. Quote
Strat Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 ES are not allowed even for 3D benchmarks? I mean I got a 990x ES and a GTX275, I want to compete in Unigine Dx9 stage, we all know that in Unigine with GT200 it won't make the difference. Moreover, 2600K is more efficient. So I can't submit in this stage with the only cpu I own? Quote
Crew Leeghoofd Posted November 22, 2011 Crew Posted November 22, 2011 I'm in the same position as you mate... don't think it will be allowed, ES is ES no matter if for 2 or 3D... and that's all Kenny fault Quote
Strat Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Arf, it dosen't sounds good to me so... Quote
Massman Posted November 22, 2011 Author Posted November 22, 2011 No ES allowed, not even for 3D stages. Quote
wesjuhdabomb Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Is turning off tesselation allowed in 3dm11..? Quote
I.nfraR.ed Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 What is the real deadline for UCbench stage? Diagram says 28th, the stage title reads "6 days to go", but it's written on the details "UCBench 2011 is open untill 30 November". Quote
Massman Posted November 23, 2011 Author Posted November 23, 2011 30th is the correct date. The competition page is ALWAYS right. Even if you think it's wrong, it's right . Quote
