Hondacity Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 if its "pentium 4"...it should only be "pentium 4" family. including the dual cores is stupid because its not pentium 4 but pentium D. I blame massman. this should be clarified soon, its already day2 Quote
Massman Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Hm, Intel cpu database should have a better structure. Updated the limitation to subfamily level: - Pentium4 s423 - Pentium4 s478 - Pentium4 lga775 - Pentium 4 mobile Quote
Hondacity Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 pentium 965/955 are pentium d family not pentium4 family Quote
Crew Don_Dan Posted February 2, 2012 Crew Posted February 2, 2012 So only the single core chips are allowed, right? What about the verification link? Is it still needed? Quote
Masterchief79 Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 (edited) I already was benching on my Pentium D 925... Guess I will just have to grab my 630 or 640 then... Online Verification for 03 is a bit tricky for competition by the way, owners of the pro edition would have an advantage. In the free version, you can't disable neither CPU tests nor Feature tests, meaning that free edition users would be limited earlier by their hardware. This is questionable in the meaning of competition, you aren't getting sponsored by Futuremark yet, are you Massman? // Oh yeah, and as the 03 only uses one core (or doesn't it? not sure actually), I don't see the problem of allowing Pentium 4 'D' CPUs. Hondacity Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 pentium4 is single core. and yes its single core pain for stage3 lol @mchief you can cancel out of the cpu tests when it runs and it will still give you the results Quote

This is questionable in the meaning of competition, you aren't getting sponsored by Futuremark yet, are you Massman? 1) You can press escape after GT4 and you won't run CPU tests 2) I added the verification links pro-forma (they give a little more security) I wouldn't mind not having links. So, unless someone screams "no way josé" we can just delete that limitation. Quote

I agree with you Masterchief. No sure why Pentium D are not allowed. They are Pentium 4 even if dual core. 03 is single threaded as far as I remember so a little confused on the reasoning. Trying to keep a level playing field? Then why allow Cedar Mills? Might as well change the limitation to: Must use Cedar Mill core. Personally I would like to see if the Pentium D can keep up to the 7Ghz+ Cedar Mills that this limitation is trying to protect. More choices is always better in my book. Dead Things Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 If I can find a little certain something in my storage locker this weekend, I should be able to submit a score for all four stages this month. Sounds like fun! Quote
gigioracing Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 p4 65nm have an advantage in this test Quote
Rasparthe Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 Verification link is required? Or not? Still needed to post a score Quote
DrWeez Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 Verification link is required? Or not? Still needed to post a score yes Verification link is still required and the free version can be used as long as you are using the right version (v360_1901) press escape at the CPU test's to skip. Quote
Rasparthe Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 Was inquiring since the previous posts in this thread indicate the requirement was being removed. Quote
DrWeez Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 yup, that was my fault by running an old version and being a little confused by the FM website's info Quote
