1. Thanks. The bad thing is that I've almost reached the maximum of this CPU. Highest I've run multithread on it is 3190 on dry ice - the worst colbugged cpu I've ever had.
2. Who said I'm any near the top overclockers and who said I have Gigabyte board? *Looks around, hoping to find any Giga board...uhm, no...*
3. It was veeery slow at the office, now it's fine at home.
4. Cause I "can"...and most probably, because I'm very sleepy
5. Doh, who uses s.A Gigabyte board Btw, as I'm already completely out of topic...for me ТАРАКАН means "таракан/хлебарка" in Russian/Bulgarian or "cockroach" in English, lol.
6. Can we have a mobo from different vendor and put a gigabyte DDR2 module on top of it? All AMD CPUs allowed, not only Llano?
7. In that order? Too bad only Gigabyte boards allowed I might end up buying Llano setup though.
8. omg, 3 Romanian guys with air cooling on top 3 places ;p
9. Not sure if bug or not. I'm trying to filter 3DMark06 scores made with K8 processors. Well, I want only scores with s.939 CPUs, but I can't figure out how I can do that, since there's no field for socket. All the top scores are actually different CPUs, most frequently used is i7 920 and E8x00. Noticed that model number (4200+ Brisbane) matches CPU frequency (4200MHz). Is that an user error or it's a messed up database? I could think it's an user error like typing 4200 in the cpu field and picking up the first option which is indeed X2 4200+ Brisbane. Permanent link to search results Similar situation with K7 CPUs, most running Bartons and T-Breds at over 5GHz on air
10. Great CPU, but you need to work on efficiency.
11. That won't be fair! Some of the oc'ers have done that before and will have advantage.
12. Oh, and another thing: From usability point of view mandatory fields should be easily distinguishable. The most popular solution is to mark all mandatory fields with a red asterisk after the label, like this: Note that you have a legend next to submit button - [*: required field], but none of the fields are marked that way. Only the fieldset legend for processor is marked The way it is done currently and because the fact that not all fields have labels, it might be easier to add an explanation to the legend of every fieldset, as it's done for [verification (mandatory)]. For CPU you could have something like this in the legend text for the fieldset "processor (processor and cooling required)". The point is that the user should have a visual information about required info he needs to enter on the initial stage, not only after Submit button clicked. Aside from that, one thing that had been noted before. Please change the tooltip position, so it appears on top of the field, not on right and covering the next field that is supposed to be filled. IMO it would be better. $(function(){ $("input[title]").tipTip({maxWidth: "auto", activation: "focus", defaultPosition: "top", delay: "100"}); });
13. Yep, usually if a value needs to be selected the dropdown options look like this: <option selected="selected">-- Select cooling --</option> <option>Stock</option> <option>Air</option> <option>Water</option> <option>SS</option> <option>Dry Ice</option> <option>Cascade</option> <option>LN2</option> <option>LHe</option> When nothing selected (default option left) there's a validation error that you must select your cooling. So I think this is the best solution.
14. Not that seeing the competition without limitations earlier helps us
15. Any way to downgrade from 0902 to 0498 bios version of Maximus IV Gene-Z? Not sure how the latest version compares to the old 3D bioses, especially for 3DMark01. Tried ez flash, asus update windows app and bupdate under dos, no luck. Is there a need to flash back to older bios? Edit: Found the solution - AFUWIN/AFUDOS for Aptio bioses worked fine, then reflashed from the EZ Flash utility just in case. Still have a problem with bclk, I'm stuck at 100. It doesn't change, even though it's set manually in bios.
16. Second chip 2500K, L148B923, #0367, 55x max multi, ~5580MHz Boots on 56x as well with lower ref clock, same maximum frequency. 57x stops on AE/blinking cursor, so probably I do everything right. This one did 50x with pll overvoltage = off, one multi up from the previous chip. Note again that I'm an AMD guy
17. If that's the real Vcore, the chip looks promising. None of my chips can match that, at least Vcore wise. And they all suck hard on subzero.
