  1. 3DMark 2K1, 03, 05 are also very CPU dependent. Yet it's not a bad idea to have a new preset for Unigine. It may be interesting.
  2. Some of the 3D benchmarks are more CPU dependent (in number of cores) than others. I'd say it's a good thing because that diversity balances the importance of CPU/GPU over the rankings and it gives us another learning curve in overclocking.
  3. I was not talking about a team mate. I personally have friends that don't have anything to do with HWBot, but they were willing to borrow me their cards to bench. So no hardware sharing involved and that's exactly what i meant. It may drive to a corner, but also it may drive others to start getting more cards. And not necessarily newest cards. They can get 4x 4870 for example, and if the HW points for them would be higher than Globals for 4x 980 TI, the competition may be better and the money will not count that much. And modding will be revived. Remember that HW points come as top 20 while Global only 15, so giving more points for older (and cheaper) hardware may balance the points against the money. However, let's be fair about the money. Overclocking is an expensive hobby. And no one is forced to get in. But if you do, just stand for it We have to buy pots, TIM, insulation, etc. There are still a lot out there that can't afford to buy LN2, while others can spend hundreds of dollars per month to bench whatever/whenever. Is it fair for all? Will we ever see an enthusiast in world wide top 10? I don't think so. It's just impossible to beat LN2 with water cooling and the points are received according to the higher score. It's the money advantage. How can that be balanced? I'd say split HWbot in 2: 1 for subzero and 1 for air/water cooling. Two separate sites. It would be nice to see WR points on air/water. I agree with that. 2D and 3D should be separate in points. So get some memory benchmarks with a lot of points so memory geeks can get what they've worked for. I said from the beginning that the amount of work should be important, not the money spent, because there always be some richer than others. To get a good score in 3D you need a good CPU and memory, so 2D it's solved anyway. That's why 2D should get lower points.
  4. I'd say you need skills to get better scores, so money will be just a way to get the hardware, not to get you in top. And I can ask why would you buy LN2 and not use a water loop. It's money investment either way for getting a better score. Invest doesn't mean only money, but time to tweak the platform, time to find the right drivers, settings, etc. It even means to borrow a card from a friend to get a better score. You are probably the biggest investor in the overclocking world, by building a lot of tools (pots, delid mate, etc). I see it as another kind of tweaks, but they also cost money. It's the work that should be rewarded, not the amount of money.
  5. somehow my post get doubled. erased one.
  6. I am one of them that suggest the points should scale with the number of components involved in overclocking. My reason is as follows: If i invest in 4x 980 Ti and an X99 platform (plus the pots and liters of LN2), i would surely want to see some points from them. And that points should be higher than a score for XTU with a i3-6320. It's simple: you invest more skills to oc cpu+vgas, you should gain points accordingly. If points for one VGA are better than for 4x VGAs (as it is now for 980 Ti. Look at the first place for FS as example), why would i bother to bench 4? In my opinion, the points should be higher as the score is higher, and with more cards you get higher scores. On the other hand, getting more points for a benchmark, as more users are using that, it seems wrong to me as it doesn't motivate people to get more cards. The story can be applied to Global and Hardware points as well. More legacy VGAs should get more hardware points. Top 10 overclockers worked their ass out to get there and invested a lot of time, LN2, etc. If you want to be there with them, you fairly need to do the same. Probably it would help if 2D and 3D get separate leagues and different points calculation. That way someone can bench 2D and compete with others for CPU scores while 3D lovers can have their league and run 4-way GPUs and get points accordingly (although the guys who bench 3D have best CPUs also, so they will probably be in top 10 of both rankings). As that is extremely hard to be done, I suggest HWBot to make separate 2D and 3D ranking tables (if possible from their db). Maybe that should be easier and it would take us a step further to the right decision.
  7. I tried another 2 CPUs last week and 121 has the issue while 141 not. However, it's great that 1.41 works as it's the best BIOS for memory OC
  8. Yes it does. 1.49V in Bios, but 1.52V on multimeter / 1.65V in BIOS, but 1.696V on multimeter.
  9. Great tool! Let us know when we can order it!
  10. Hey guys, Max VIII Impact is here. Very nice board. BIOS is the same with Gene and Extreme. OC memory profiles are there. CPU overclocking same as Extreme, memory a little better i'd say. If you have questions, just ask.
