A while ago, Dagmar suggested I modernise a bit and not just bench nV 8 & 9-series for the rest of my life I thought "not a BAD idea, but maybe I should do it in baby steps" I also thought... "I'm gonna do this my way" My rules: No 64-bit memory buses. Nothing less than 96SP. 96SP cards don't get 3DMark11 or Uni 11 because I don't want to watch slideshows. 3DMark hadn't been released when I started this. The scores don't have to be gold, but I ain't gonna avoid gold if I can get it! We all bench in different ways. Some bench for personal bests, some aim at good global scores, a smaller number aim at a world record, an equally small number aim at being No.1 in the rankings.... HWL, Pro League, Extreme league, Enthusiast League. Some people scatter bench, some try to get scores for each benchmark that a card will run. Question..... have you ever seen someone take over the 1x rankings of an ENTIRE ARCHITECTURE. IN. ONE. GO. before? I knew the 3D01-06 & AM3 "section" would be tough with the 480. I did better there than I expected! 142 results (if my notes are correct) 119 gold 11 silver 8 crap +4 that I don't mind being crap (for now) Thanks to Nick & ASRock for the Z87M OC board. Having that REALLY helped with this project. Just a shame my CPUs aren't as good as the board!

First things first: this one is dedicated to my mum, who died before I was ready to submit it. My GPU binning meant that, frequently, I had more than one of some GPU models kicking around and I thought "SLI would be something a bit new to play around with.... and it'd be good to learn how to handle more pots" I wasn't interested in the Quadro cards or the obscure G9x models like the GT330, or all the variants of 9600GSO. That was in late 2011. Yes, two years ago. The first of the new-style of UK bench meets was coming up and I thought "if I come unstuck, I can get some help." The first scores I got were during that meet in December 2011 and....23 months on, they're still #1 scores. I got a bit more ambitious...... the easiest way to show it is with "before" and "after" screenshots. Before: AFTER: The original plan was to show 100% gold medals. Seven scores aren't and if i'd submitted ~9 months ago, the silver list would be shorter. 8800GTX: 3D05,3D06 & AM3. My scores were gold when I got them in March 2012, I just held onto them for FAR too long. Beaten fairly by newer hardware 8800GTS 512MB: 3D01 & AM3. Ananerbes scores went up before I got around to the 512MB and.... I was outperformed, plain and simple. I have no luck with CPUs. 8800 Ultra: 3D03. Beaten fair and square I guess. My cards would NOT scale towards 1GHz and I don't know why. At least my efficiency is ok 9800GTX: 3D01. Gold when I benched, CH was utterly incorrect and I held onto it for too long. Surprisingly few deaths "this time around" but I killed a few 8800GTX, including two that did 999/1323 for all benches and THAT annoys me. Yea, i'm a big fan of single 12V rails for benching. Something like a 760i would be great for 2D and if you want to add 3D into the mix, i'd suggest something like a fully-modular 1K+ unit.

Rule #1 of tactical benching: don't tell someone you're out to beat their scores

Use the 480 SOC CS BIOS. I'm interested in seeing what you get out of a 470 SOC. Mine SUCKED at PCB level.

GTX465 that unlocks to 470 is still submitted as 465. IMO, R9 290X drivers are a state. CF-X is a writeoff. The driver keeps dropping cards and takes AGES to install

It was released a month after the GTX280. Fail!

The PCB is shared with Zotacs 9800GTX+ 1GB and GTS250 1GB. I've not seen any of those cards with the same BIOS as the '150 (62.92.62.00.16) but... that doesn't mean they aren't out there.

Update on the GTS150.... I don't think nVidia assigned a unique ID to it.....that, is a problem
