Another review of Ivy Bridge: http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/4618/ivy_bridge_preview_with_gigabyte_z77x_ud5h_intel_z77_and_core_i5_3750k/index1.html So, I take it Francois will now take both Anandtech and Tweaktown to court? Or is he still just worried about the small-time leaks ...

About HWBOT ranks/points and Virtu MVP So, as you can all see from this thread, the discussion regarding Virtu MVP's legitimacy in competitive benchmarking is still going on. Although we've reached a point where we know in what situations Virtu MVP should and should not be considered legit, we do not have concrete information on how Virtu MVP works exactly. This piece of information is vital in this discussion. For the time being, HWBOT will not award points or ranks to benchmark results obtained with the aid of Virtu MVP. In our current development sprint, we've added a feature that would allow users to indicate if they used Virtu MVP to obtain the score. In case Virtu MVP was used, the result will automatically be set to 'no points, no ranks'. Until this feature is installed on the production server, we would ask you to use the 'I do NOT want points for this submission'-checkbox. Please note that no final decision about Virtu MVP has been taken yet. It's possible that Virtu MVP will be allowed in the normal rankings, or that it will get its own ranking or even that it will be completely disallowed. We hope to have all the pieces of the puzzle shortly so we can have a final conclusion on the legitimacy of this new technology.

Hey all, Short post because the CPU was not good. As we all know, in between now and April 29th, there's pretty much nothing to do for the extreme overclocker since Ivy Bridge will kick ass. So instead, I wanted to see how good a full AMD setup really performed in 3DMark11. Before, I already tested Bulldozer with 4x GTX580, but that ended up in one big LOL/LMAO/ROFL-fest since it could hardly compete with any other similar setup. So, hopes were not that high to begin with. In any case, I started with a simple run on air cooling to check initial performance. I pushed the CPU to 4GHz (small OC) on simple air cooling. The result was mindblowing: (no tesselation tweaking) Very promising start. Without too much stress, we could then pull down the CPU to -180°C and see how high it could clock. Turns out ... not so high. 6150MHz stable through Physics was about the maximum! One core kept bugging in the tests, so ... little we can do about it. With 6G only, it was already quite obvious that this setup wouldn't be doing too well. Anyway, had some fun pushing the NBclk and DRAMclk in physics. 990FXA-UD7 still is my favorite AMD board . Eventually, I ended up around 18.2k (tesselation disabled). At 6GHz, this score isn't that bad (for Bulldozer) relatively speaking. 20K wasn't that super-easy with the GTX580s, with 7970s it should be quite possible. But, well, you need a good CPU. Playing with memory and physics is still quite fun, though. I managed a little higher memory clocks through Physics. Should be interesting to see what happens when the memory is under LN2 too! Hardware used - AMD Phenom FX-8120 (retail) - GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD7 (F5 bios) - 4x Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 - 2x 2GB GSkill Flare - Coolermaster Silent Pro M 1000W - Thortech Thunderbolt 1200W Some pictures of the session: Till the next time!

How can you guys see the clock? I can't read it ... the image has YP's trademarked jpeg quality stamp all over it. -

Already found one that isn't 7G lol

Hm. Either I was going to be sitting comfortable or I was about to make a hilarious tumble and fall on my ass.

SF3D OC Triple Point - New Ln2 pot for memory
Massman replied to SF3D's topic in Memory Heaven (air/extreme)
I agree with M.Beier, Cu version is needed for the massive heatload the memory is producing. Certainly close to 200W, which means that Cu version will give a crazy badass possibility to finetune the temperature to at least 0.1°C, making it perfect to work around coldbug and coldbootbug. Response is insanely important with memory, especially in quad channel configuration (image 200W x 4 !! wtf, crazy). The Alu version is nice, but I'm not sure if it will suffice to keep Hyper stable at DDR3-2400C6-6-6 at 2.3V, as M.Beier already indicated. So, yes, it would be nice to have a Cu version. Perhaps also with an updated internal rework since it's possible that the current design is not capable of handling fast response needed? I agree with M.Beier. -
Fyi, Waiting for Anandtech or Coolaler to post news about Intel coming after them. Though, I seriously doubt it's going to be either one ... probably a small time leaker (as usual).

Breaking NDA is just another business model ...

Can't both ask for extensive OC support (sample, mods, features, bios) and then also tell not to get involved.
