August 11, 201410 yr Author Crew 2 x L421B985 1.32v 5ghz 32m = 6.2 1m and 6.5 validate. -105. 1.7v. Im sure if it was -130 cb we would see nicer results. 2nd cpu 1.42v 5ghz 32m. No ln2 left for this one. Serial for good one is 3669 and worse one 3929. Ill try buy lower serials tomorrow. But im happy about the batch
August 12, 201410 yr test made on watercooling, with 20 degrees ambient. don't mind the efficiency,it was a short test, plug and play
August 12, 201410 yr 4790k L425B370 A2127 4790k L425B405 A1127 4690K L420B903 A2183 4690K L421C035 A1204 4690K L421C035 A0431 neither of those CPUs load OS with 4c/4t at 5000MHz (Tried until 1.4V)
August 12, 201410 yr I have already tested around 30 retails 4790K, best was 1.35 GHz 4/8 5 GHz air... I don't have luck DC
August 12, 201410 yr 5.3 @1.46 v spi32m stable with temperatures up to 55 degrees max...impossible for it to die like this . I have some stability issues,i am still learning this architecture.
August 12, 201410 yr 5.3 @1.46 v spi32m stable with temperatures up to 55 degrees max...impossible for it to die like this . I have some stability issues,i am still learning this architecture. Did you buy that CPU as rejected? I mean this CPU doesn't scale on cold or has extremelly low cb and seems it was delided, am I right?
August 12, 201410 yr It was never tested on cold, nor delidded. I will test it soon on dice. Will be interesting to see what CPU can do )
August 13, 201410 yr Author Crew 5 x L421B985 - great air batch, first cpu CB is -105, will see if that was unlucky or batch related serial number: A3959 - 5ghz 32m 1.4v A3820 - 5ghz 32m 1.32v A3669 - 5ghz 32m 1.3v A3629 - 5ghz 32m 1.34v A3559 - 5ghz 32m 1.37v sweetspot of serials is in 3700 - 3800 range
August 13, 201410 yr Author Crew Do you test with 4/8 and win7 or XP and cores/HT disabled? i test 4c 4t windows XP. 4c 8t win7 is too harsh on devils canyon . the best one runs 1.35v 4.9ghz XTU stress test stable 24/7 - win7 all cores the others do 1.35v 4.8ghz XTU stress test stable so they are wall'ing in weird places, they are ALOT better than 4770k at multi thread on air/water. you will need epic gem 4770k for 4.9ghz 24/7
August 13, 201410 yr Devils canyon might be a bit of a flop at the moment in terms of extreme overclocking, but the Penitums are just god awful There has only been what, two or three good batches so far?? On a side note, Vivi, update the first post

August 18, 201410 yr 1.25v cpu did 6.4ghz 1m at -138 (totally mental CB)1.27v cpu did 6.3ghz 1m at -130 1.35v cpu didnt test cause dont care Thanks for the info. Still seems like 4790k doesn't work like it should on ln2. Maybe Intel tuned it for air/water in some way...
August 20, 201410 yr I was able to hit 5.0 a few days ago. Made me VERY happy !!!! My 4790K batch number is: L419B559
