Nice thread and info! Thankyou -
So, from your testing so far, *generally* higher VID = higher air-bin MHz.

Skylake Delid and TIM Swapping

....and, Intel are committed to overclocking.....how, exactly? (thanks for the info) I guess that a soldered IHS would be an easy new product release for them, should it be necessary. Lower temps, more MHz. Marketing dream. -

Candidate for best post of 2015? Thankyou So.... is "stock" Skylake useless under LN2 without a TIM-swap? Seriously.... a possible load swing of 160 degrees? -
Hmmmmm How is load assigned? 50% is very "neat" Could the PCB or some components be damaged? Reballing needed on the die?

Next stop, absolutely 200K! Was hoping for a bigger IPC gain but...... another topic. -
Well, XFX have no record of the card ("somewhere between end-of-life," files deleted and "WTF even was this?") So... time for the enthusiast community
-
I have a random XFX 3rd party PCB and BIOS here... scores are terrible and GPU-Z tells me that the GPU core and memory controller are both loading at 50%, which kinda makes sense, given the scores i'm getting. It's just this card, so I think BIOS. Platform, OS and drivers make no difference. Has anyone got experience of this and/or ideas on how to solve it? Nibitor doesn't have a "disable bollocks" option Oh... card also has "Turbocache", which i'm not used to and I can't see any obvious options for messing with that.

Ah! Yes, same thing happened to me. I could push to 1GHz very easily, but the performance was in the toilet. Gimme a minute, i'll dig out screenshots..... I *think* I still have them EDIT: 900MHz is the highest I have... and it's not a great screeny Though, I did submit something at 1GHz, back in the day I quite like that pic -
Roman to the rescue! What's "getting in the way" of the external PWM doing its job? If the inductor on the PWM output is removed, does that not make the stock PWM 100% irrelevant?
-
Definitely needs a bump.... maybe even a front-page comment? A new Windows OS is a big deal and there's no point in pretending otherwise

Some of the wording in my previous post was....too blunt and harsh. Sorry about that. Enough people have seen it that i'm not sure if removing it has any benefit
