Back in 2012-2013 we were holding an oc competition @benchmark.kz (and agreed that team members won't get prizes and may take part only for reference only - all prizes go to newbies; not great prizes but still worth 100-150$ for first place). Guess what - nobody joined our team, just got their prizes and left. Overclocking as I understand it is about passion.

Sub zero (i.e. ss) is getting more and more expensive with latest gens of hardware - both my ss won't stand overclocked cpus (latest I tried was 5820K, which was at positives @5ghz full load) as they are tuned for 200-250W. I can just imagine how expensive a proper ss may be. And DI/LN2 are totally impractical (I can imagine ultimate gaming rig cooled by ss or chiller - but not cooled by ln2) and require expensive entry ticket (pots, dewar, thermometer).

Thank you. @ozzie that is dom 1866c7 without heatspreader and upper part cut with dremel to fit my ss. E8400 is much worse than dead e8200, it is getting unstable even @666 with maximum of 3-4 loops in 1m, while e8200 was able to complete 1-2 loops of 32m.

I just don't get the point of being so aggressive to people who have different point of view. He is part of the community. Many people left overclocking because of many reasons (including the concepts like "overclocking is dead", "hwbot sucks" etc) but they are still friends to many of us. Overclocking, hwbot, community - these are quite different things. I don't think "Qui non est nobiscum, adversus nos est" is a good point.

Not apogee, it is random kit of crucial 8000c5, based on d9gmh. Seems better than my apogee in terms of pure clock but timings-wise is quite the same. I should check my cold fatbody yet - mine do 1130 5-2-2-8 with air, hopefully they will do >1200 5-2-2-8 with ss.

nope, had no chance yet to look into baredit seriously - that was different approach why I installed baredit, sadly fruitless. So this one is mainly brute power of this mb sample.

Both cpu and ss seem to perform great here, never thought such frequency is doable without di/ln2.
