masterZ Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 (edited) Hi Few days ago which i was playing with an AM3 platform , something crazy happend in my rig. I found that i can full unlock Sempron 145 to a Black Edition chip! It appeared as a two cores "AMD Engineering Sample" that was absolutely unlocked. CPU ratio unlocked to x31.5. (locked at x14 in stock) CPU-NB ratio unlocked to x25. (locked at x10 in stock) CPU VID & CPU-NB VID goes to 1.55v. (locked at 1.35v in stock) And it was interesting to see the "HTT ratio" was ulocked to x13. Because i never saw x13 even on AM3 Black Editions except on Phenom II X6!! As is clear , the "DA-C3" revision is just for "Regor" cores and there isn't any Black Edition on Regor. BTW , CPU-Z reports an Opteron 1300 with "Shanghai" core! Bios detect it as an ES, But it seems the AIDA64 is more honest to telling right info. So its pretty cool to have an unlocked Sempron! Isn't it? Some people may ask about Bugs ... So i just ran SPi at different multipliers and CPU-NB at x15 \ HTT at x13 that can prove everything. (dont pay attention to efficiency which wasn't optimized ) SPi @ 2800 Mhz as 145`s stock freq. SPi @ 4000 Mhz SPi @ 4400 Mhz Mobo was DFI LanParty BI 785G-M35 with latest bata Bios, The first time that it apeared , the ACC was on AUTO mode But it never happened again in AUTO mode and i have to playing with ACC and do some trick to get that. It must be possible on All AM3 chips but i am not sure about Thubans because of some reasons that i guess : ) All motherboards with ACC can not do this and i am not sure what is special in this mobo or some other mobos which can do this magic! It needs to more research and we need all your feedbacks. Forget the newer 8xx , 9xx series motherboards that use external unlock circuit instead of ACC. Some more infomation due to my experience : It's not first time in the world that it happened but its very hard to see , because its very very rare to get "AMD Engineering Sample" when ACC is on AUTO mode. It's not chip related . i did that on two 145s and also with an Phenom II 555.Here is the valid : http://valid.canardpc.com/8wdi9i I belive that its about mobo , bios or SB model but i'm not 100% sure which is!! It's kinda unstable situation.any crash , bsod , hard reset and Alt+ctrl+del that force mobo to hard boot may put it back to normal Unlock mode or even not boot until CMOS reset. But i have'nt problem with normal Restart in os or F10 in bios; On (ES) mode : CPU FID will drops to minumun (x8) CPU DID stay on x1 CPU VID offen jumps to 1.55v (But sometimes stay at stock) CPU-NB VID offten jumps to 1.55v (But sometimes stay at stock) CPU-NB ratio will stay at stock but if you set it manualy on x11,x12,x13 the HTT ratio will follow that.(HTT ratio must be on auto mode) So , good luck to get your ES . . . .\ Edited October 6, 2014 by masterZ 1 Quote

K404 Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Is batch info important for a find like this? Quote
masterZ Posted October 5, 2014 Author Posted October 5, 2014 tnx ALI-jan : ) --------------- No , its all about mobo ; Quote
Mr.Scott Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 (edited) Interesting that it reads the 555 as an Opteron 1300 also, but with 4 cores live. It is indeed bios related. Nice find. Can you post the bios here? I'd like a copy. Edited October 6, 2014 by Mr.Scott Quote

Nice find. Can you post the bios here? I'd like a copy. Bios version :L8JD707 Here is the link from DFI official site : http://lp.dfi.com/Upload/BIOS/CM/L8JD707.zip Can you post the IHS picture? All my CPUs are retail and i test it on different chips with different revision and stepping. So i dont know which one do you want to know ?! But if still you want to see , please tell me and i'll take a capture ; As said before , there isnt any special in my CPUs. It can be possibe to do for all AM3 models except Thubans that i am not sure about it! And also another group of chips , i mean the chips with hidden core(s) that them hidden core(s) can not be unlocked, These chips have a problem with ACC and cant push theme to ES. Quote

I'm going to take it apart. Might be able to isolate what does that and adapt it to another boards bios. It's not a common thing. Shouldn't be too hard to spot. Quote
NoMS Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 OCinside already did this too, but they used an X3 710 with ASRock 790GX board. http://www.ocinside.de/go_e.html?http://www.ocinside.de/html/workshop/amd_phenom_ii_acc.html 1 Quote

My Gig 790 boards do it also. What is uncommon is that his board always unlocks to an unlocked multi ES, labeled to an Opteron 1300, no matter what chip he unlocks. 1 Quote

My Gig boards do not report ES or unlock the multiplier. Just add cores and/or cache. Hence why I'd like to find out why, and if I can make them. It has to be something in the bios. EDIT- or the G chipset. My boards are X or FX chipsets. Edited October 6, 2014 by Mr.Scott Quote

Perhaps it isn't related to NB since ACC are supposed to be a feature of SB710/750, right? Anyway, I put my old DFI JR 790GX-M2RS to work with Sempron now, hope to get the thing unlocked to ES too... Farid, it's possible to share how you adjust the ACC on your board to get the "ES" more often? DFI mobo here too. Edited October 7, 2014 by NoMS Quote
masterZ Posted October 8, 2014 Author Posted October 8, 2014 (edited) his board always unlocks to an unlocked multi ES, labeled to an Opteron 1300, no matter what chip he unlocks. I never said that as i mentioned before i need to play with ACC to put CPU on ES and it usually take a time from me! otherwise i can say the mobo almost do normal unlock! And good luck to working on bios. it may help to know the latest original bios can not even do normal unlock as i once tried with 145. @NoMS Search for some configuration that sometimes make mobo unable to unlock , Not boot or not unlock , and play around these to see ES. But i can not promise it work for you. .. Edited October 8, 2014 by masterZ Quote
I.nfraR.ed Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Other reports I saw were using 7x0G chipset too, not sure if possible on 790FX and my Sempron doesn't even unlock to try. Quote

This is what interests me. Didn't mean to put words in your mouth. Quote
masterZ Posted October 8, 2014 Author Posted October 8, 2014 (edited) Once i saw ES on 790FXB-M2RS long time ago , There wasn't chance to boot windows and in next boot thats just disappeared and i didn't reseach about it. Unfortunately i do not remember bios version. But there is a valid from 790FX : http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2816201 It's more like to a bug in ACC function and it would be hard to see. btw , all other mobos can find here : https://www.google.com/search?q=opteron+1300+site%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fvalid.canardpc.com%2F&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&channel=sb Mr.Scott , Oh sorry my mistake That is just happen in CPU-Z whileAIDA64 can show right core name and family. % Edited October 8, 2014 by masterZ Quote
