Members GeorgeStorm Posted April 3, 2019 Members Posted April 3, 2019 (edited) Welcome to Cheapaz Chips Season 3! (UPDATE ON RULES) This time round, the target is the AMD Cedar core, and users are expected to mod their cards to push them to the limits in the following benches: 3DM11 Entry (graphics score) Heaven Basic 3DMark Skydiver (graphics score) 3DMark 06 (Total score counts) The numbers that matter are the graphics scores (only 06 is total score), not the overall so don't worry if you don't have a beefy cpu, it's all down to the GPU. You may need to disable points for the sub so it doesn't muck up the standard rankings. The rules: Must use a single Cedar based GPU (e.g HD 5450) CPU max. core count of 4. (Disabling cores allowed) CPU Mhz cannot exceed 5003Mhz (freq monitoring via HWINFO, running in the background during the benchmark) Must use the competition background Must include a picture of the modded card and system used for the competition Screenshots should meet general hwbot rules (plus HWINFO monitoring tool showing CPU freqs during the run) All 3DMark scores must include a link with a valid score on 3dmark.com (thus no LOD and co allowed) Enjoy! (and if things don't work please let me know) Edit: Background can be found here (thanks to @Leeghoofd? Edited May 25, 2019 by GeorgeStorm 5 1 1 Quote
yosarianilives Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Will the rules pages on OC-esports.io be updated to include the change from graphics to total score? Quote

Why was this changed? The consensus in the planning thread was graphics scores only, cpu limit 5g, and core count doesn't matter. Quote

Members GeorgeStorm Posted April 3, 2019 Author Members Posted April 3, 2019 (edited) Because I can't/don't know how to make new rankings for GPU score. Yes I'll update rules. Edited April 3, 2019 by GeorgeStorm 1 Quote

Crew Leeghoofd Posted April 3, 2019 Crew Posted April 3, 2019 well one can submit GPU score for this compo and resub total score for normal HWBOT rankings. Now if the majority was for GPU score only, no need to change the rules.... 2 Quote

Crew Leeghoofd Posted April 3, 2019 Crew Posted April 3, 2019 (edited) mods know its for a compo Edited April 16, 2019 by Leeghoofd 1 Quote
bolc Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/?gpu=Cedar&sort=name all those are Cedars gpu for the competition? Quote
miker2ka Posted April 21, 2019 Posted April 21, 2019 If i find a gpu worthy of this competition can i use a 9900k with 4 cores active? Quote
Members GeorgeStorm Posted April 21, 2019 Author Members Posted April 21, 2019 (edited) Ok so go GPU score and just disable points maybe that might stop any issues with the standard hwbot ranking. Also disabling cores is fine, seems like it would increase participation so all good Have edited the OP. People happy now? Edited April 21, 2019 by GeorgeStorm 2 2 Quote
Crew Leeghoofd Posted April 21, 2019 Crew Posted April 21, 2019 (edited) I hope it is clearer to everyone now: All benches (besides 3DMark06) require the Graphics score to be submitted. Take note that for the Futuremark/UL benches a validation link is mandatory! Plus the score has to be VALID at Futuremark website edit: changed to submission rules too on the site!! miker2ka Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 Great that i can use my cpu, now i only have to find GPU Quote
superpatodonaldo Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 So no LOD allowed, if the score has to appear VALID at FM website Quote

bigblock990 Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 Can ES cpu's be allowed? Don't see a problem here since limited to 4 cores and 5003mhz anyway. Quote

Members GeorgeStorm Posted April 23, 2019 Author Members Posted April 23, 2019 Yeah since disabling cores is allowed it's a free for all on CPU as far as I'm concerned, just run the bench at 4c and <5003mhz. 1 1 Quote
Dragon Soop Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 What monitoring you using to keep at 5g as from what I seen in previous subs unless timer and graph to show true. hwinfo etc can show current max but can be opened post bench Quote
Crew Leeghoofd Posted April 23, 2019 Crew Posted April 23, 2019 @GeorgeStorm If George wants to impose a clock reading tool, I would opt for this one. It reads out the clocks with decimals and also provides time the monitoring tool was used... Quote
Members GeorgeStorm Posted April 23, 2019 Author Members Posted April 23, 2019 Challengers were run with hwinfo/hwmonitor, I'd go for one or the other to avoid any decimal point issues. Yes people can cheat, people have always been able to cheat and they always will be able to cheat, but hwbot has survived so far and I don't think this comp will change that Happy to go with hwinfo as @Leeghoofd suggested.
