OptyTrooper Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 I believe that the K6 category rules should be revised in some way to allow boards with the Ali5 chipset to compete as they are as we know by far the best for socket 7. Quote
Rasparthe Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Stupid P5A! LOL guess its not the Ali5 chip but the Asus board itself. Quote
I.nfraR.ed Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 I'm busy with the CountryCup. My s.A result is the final one, no time for subzero and I'm tired as hell. Quote
I.M.O.G. Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Impressive  Right back at you - nice scores! Quote
Christian Ney Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Right back at you - nice scores!  Thanks man, I tried to do my best to lead 4 stages. As I don't have any competitive AMD K8.  Till yesterday I was still #1 in 3 stages  And now only one .  But I am happy anyway, The man that defeated 20 Teams in the overall ranking Quote
OptyTrooper Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Since when was staff allowed to compete? Quote
M.Beier Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Since when was staff allowed to compete? Â Ehm, I believe this can be answered fairly simple; Since hwbot was started. Quote
ZMBKLN Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Great job Christian Ney! Â Single handedly schooled every team in the competition! Â Just wanted to give a quick props on that... That took some work! Quote
OptyTrooper Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Not a single other member of the staff competed I assume from an ethics standpoint. I think it's bullshit and whoever doesn't like it can fuck off. HWBOT stafff should stay out of competitions period. I don't see Massman posting scores or Turrican...? Quote
KONAKONA Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 I don't quite like sandbagging but I don't think being staff really has anything to do with it. Â Good job nonetheless. Hopefully we'll have an intel comp up in a day or two. Quote
ZMBKLN Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Â Good job nonetheless. Hopefully we'll have an intel comp up in a day or two. Â ^^^ Â This! Quote
OptyTrooper Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Fuck that. Again not a single member of the staff competes in these aside from CN again I would assume from an ethics standpoint. Yet CN is allowed to run rampant. I'll say again staff should be exempt from open competition. Quote

Turrican already competed for HOC: just an exemple: http://hwbot.org/competition/hoc_sep11  Massman is lazy and has got too much work (I harrass him 24H/7)  Knopflerbruce is on his exams period and is working full time for the university at the moment.  I don't see why I can't compete? I know the hardware/limitations the same day as all of you guys, only massman knows the competition hardware/limitations before the open day of HOC.    And yeah for your information, being part of HWBot's Staff give you extra/more MHz to your CPU, so if you want easy overclocking and WR and Huge Frequency, join the Staff Edited November 30, 2011 by Christian Ney Quote
I.M.O.G. Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 AmericanNightmare: Whining is not competing. It's just whining. No reason for it bud. Man up and move on, or move out. Our team doesn't need a bitchfest, not what we're about. Â Props again on the win! Quote

Maybe you should look a bit further then.. Massman has been in several hwbot competitions, and really, can you please moderate your language a bit. Quote
mr.paco Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Very nice work Christian Congrats to you n your team... Quote
Bobnova Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Holy hell Christian, that's some mighty nice work. I'm impressed! Â Â The only reason I could see for HWBot staff not to compete is if they know the contest rules/specifics before it starts. Sounds like they don't, so I don't have a problem with it. Â Â Of course, it looks suspicious, so I'm pretty sure he should have his account merged with someone elses Quote
Mr.Scott Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 (edited) Congrats Ocaholics and CN on your win. Â Fuck that. Again not a single member of the staff competes in these aside from CN again I would assume from an ethics standpoint. Yet CN is allowed to run rampant. I'll say again staff should be exempt from open competition. Hahahahaha. Why is it that you think everybodys site is a democracy? Guess what, it isn't. Mine isn't and neither is this one. YOU have to play by the sites rules, regardless of if you like it or not. If you don't like it, there's an alternative..........just like what happened at my site. Aww that's right, you already know about that don't you. Edited December 1, 2011 by Mr.Scott Quote

I recall a picture from GOOC 2010 of him receiving bribe - and he was fairly cheap to pay off! :D  Jokes aside; Nah dont know how it does these days, but a year back, Massman was the mastermind of the competitions, he made the rules himself, and is fairly good at it - he is TERRIBLE at take critic, dont suggest anything could be done differently, I warn you. knopflerbruce Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 I don't see what's unethic about competing if you're a member of the staff. The only problem would be if a score got questioned, but we don't have a habit of treating mods in a different way than a regular user. I can't see that being a moderator would be an advantage in any competition either. It's not like there is a thread for competition content most of the time. I think only massman knew about this one, for example. Quote
OptyTrooper Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 The issue is HWBOT plays by whatever rules suit them @ the time and I am always chastised for taking a stand. If you don't fight for change nothing will change. Quote
Massman Posted December 1, 2011 Author Posted December 1, 2011 Yup, I usually keep all the competition stuff to myself. No one knew anything about the OC Challenge since, ehr, ever I think. Same goes for the Country Cups. Even Frederik usually doesn't know (unless he has to implement new code in the HCE). There's a distinct reason why I keep competition details a secret ... and this is exactly why. I don't want those who volunteer here at the bot and put time and effort into keeping this place clean to have to give up on exciting competitions as well. It's bad enough these people are voluntarily getting critic from the community, no need to punish them even more . Â I do compete once in a while, but only because I'm still addicted to overclocking. I've never been in the position to refuse prizes (sigh), but I wouldn't take any of them anyway. Quote
