l0ud_sil3nc3 Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 (edited) So on a whim decided to test some BBSE under LN2 as I have never had good results with BBSE under LN2. pro tips for the community: Vccio and vccsa must be tuned perfectly (per Crusty) in my case 1.104 vccio and 1.153 vccsa Vttdr at auto on this kit is fine (0.764 is auto setting on OC Formula, thanks again Crusty). On my other kits 0.85v on air is fine for 2600 8-11-7 so go figure Clocking on air means nothing for BBSE as this kit would not even post at 2600 c8 at any volts, so all those sticks that went in the reject pile because no 2600 8-11-7 on air need to be retested under cold, making binning BBSE that much more fun:) Look for extra hot running ic's, (totally a hunch) but this kit was running so hot on air, I thought my k probe was broken or out of calibration, and hence decided to vas them and try them under cold. The final thing, your IMC must be able to handle the strain induced by BBSE. I could boot from bios as high as 2800 7-10-7 but absolutely no stability at anything above 2600, so pretty sure the IMC is what is holding me back. 2.1v was fine for all of the screens below. . . Hypers have nothing on good BBSE frosty pics shortly Edited May 1, 2013 by l0ud_sil3nc3 1 Quote
Massman Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 I merely approve. Once that frosty pic is up, then I'll like Oh, and beware of saying PSC/BBSE is better than Hyper, though. I've tried that before ... that did not end well Quote

crustytheclown Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Great job bro, keep it up!!! Seems Haswell will make us continue good mem hunting!!! Quote
Administrators websmile Posted May 1, 2013 Administrators Posted May 1, 2013 I am surprised how well these do, great job, Loud - on air these couldn´t even do 1250 at 1,8v, you are really getting routine on cold mems and results are impressive - I will keep following your results to keep up even without Haswell btw - try hypers on air first - as good bbse, good hyper do a good job on each platform in the right hands^^ 1 Quote
Crew Leeghoofd Posted May 2, 2013 Crew Posted May 2, 2013 I bought the same kit last week for 35 euros on a local forum. Currently on air they do 2400 C8-10-8-24 at 1.7Vdimm, 2600 8-11-8 would be fine for me And no Massman will never be able to touch these ! 1 Quote
Administrators websmile Posted May 2, 2013 Administrators Posted May 2, 2013 If PJ hasn´t killed his 2133c8 already, he has better BBSE anyway Quote
Administrators websmile Posted May 2, 2013 Administrators Posted May 2, 2013 Then those real awful GTX2 I had to test were also yours? - Grats for having had some of the worst GTX2 ever Quote

l0ud_sil3nc3 Posted May 16, 2013 Author Posted May 16, 2013 Sam's BBSE under cold:) brix shat:p This kit is good for 2600 on air, but it seems that it does not like voltage, all the above was done with 1.9v as more would cause it to fail quicker. Also dimm temps needed to be at -85c to -100c as much more would cause it to fail. I am starting to think some dimms do not like the extreme cold, and once again, bad on air = good on cold, and good on air = bad on cold. This kit would not do 2600 c7 or c6 at any volts. I corrupted Windows more times in this session as setting anything => 2.0v was insta corrupt and reinstall. Still have the black PCB to test:D Quote
nachtfalke Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 (edited) which is the voltage limit on air to this kit? i ask because i have too g.skill2133cl8 ...but if set in bios over 1.85v , platform fail to boot , if i set in windows -directly shutdown .. i will try in weekend this kit on LN2, maybe with cold the voltage limit increase over 2v...i hope:) Edited May 16, 2013 by nachtfalke 1 Quote

Only thing I have to say about BBSE binning is they probably all need to be tested under cold, which sucks because it is a lot of time and work. Quote
