Massman Posted February 2, 2014 Author Posted February 2, 2014 is the amd stage a single cpu or cpu thread? bit confusing Use 1 processor core(s) in total. for stage 4 is a dual gpu ok or not?like the 3Dlabs Wildcat Realizm 800 Yes, allowed Am I to understand that we are allowed to disable cores for SC2?Because based on the the limitations and past competitions my understanding is that it must be ONE SINGLE CORE CPU and NO CORE DISABLING. Just wanna be clear so I'll know. Thank you... Disabling cores is never allowed, so the CPU must be single core. Quote
Yurikal Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 How do I know if my gpu is allowed in the "Rare Vendor" 3dmark03 stage? What do you mean exactly for "Rare Vendor"? Quote
Rasparthe Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 There is a list of acceptable vendors in the stage page, under the rules of the stage. 'Only use SIS, XGI, Matrox, PowerVR, S3, 3DLabs, 3DFX videocards.' Quote
TASOS Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Only use SIS, XGI, Matrox, PowerVR, S3, 3DLabs, 3DFX videocards. Are the on-board (chipset) graphics allowed ??? Are they considered to be videocards ??? Quote
havli Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 The Pentium II stage says : Only use processors from the Intel Pentium 2 family. Is it ok to use PII based Celeron (Mendocino)? Quote
Massman Posted February 3, 2014 Author Posted February 3, 2014 can i use nvidia 610m? I'll add all the 610 variants. (so yes) Are the on-board (chipset) graphics allowed ??? Are they considered to be videocards ??? Yup allowed. They are considered videocards . The Pentium II stage says : Is it ok to use PII based Celeron (Mendocino)? All Processors allowed can be found under the hardware database, here: http://hwbot.org/hardware/processors#key=intel_pentium_2. So to answer your question: yes. Quote
Luebke Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 why no agp-only? so real cool classic cards like voodoo 5 are chanceles against modern s3 .__. i´ll try agp anyway >.< apart from that a nice fun-competition Quote
Crew Antinomy Posted February 4, 2014 Crew Posted February 4, 2014 Voodoo won't run 3DMark 03. Just wondering - am I the only one who has a full set of hardware (though, pretty medium to fight for rankings)? Quote
TerraRaptor Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 I have all except stage #1 which is mainly the matter of buying it. But will probably participate only stage #3 and #5. Quote
havli Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Actually Voodoo4/5 can run GT1... however it requires some sw hacks via 3D analyze... http://www.3dfxzone.it/enboard/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1129&whichpage=64 3DMark03 runs with Alpha35 plus 3DAnalyze ( emulate Cube Maps ).Small texture problems at the front of the planes and with transparency at the windows. Result : 95 3DMarks with Voodoo4 PCI As for the hardware - I have everything except the GeForce GT610. Maybe I'll buy one. Quote
TerraRaptor Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Actually Voodoo4/5 can run GT1... however it requires some sw hacks via 3D analyze... Such tweaks are forbidden here @hwbot. It is forbidden to run benchmarks "indirectly". Quote
havli Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Yes, I know. I think the best benchmark for voodos is the 3Dmark 2000. Most of them can run it at default settings - V2 SLI and up. 3Dmark 99 is bit too much CPU limited. It would be nice to have some competition with voodoos in the future. Quote
Crew Antinomy Posted February 4, 2014 Crew Posted February 4, 2014 Actually Voodoo4/5 can run GT1... however it requires some sw hacks via 3D analyze...This way you can run even 3DMark 03/05 completely. Quote
ultraex2003 Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 i have a voodoo 3 pci and dont run 3dmark 03 !! Quote
Crew Turrican Posted February 5, 2014 Crew Posted February 5, 2014 i have a voodoo 3 pci and dont run 3dmark 03 !! it's ok. no voodoo can run the 3dmark03 natively. Quote
gigioracing Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Pentium 2 Celeron socket 370 can run on competition ? Quote
delly Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 this cpu is allowed?? http://hwbot.org/hardware/processor/pentium_2_celeron_500mhz_s370/ Quote
Aleslammer Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 (edited) Will 3d Analyze work with some of the other brand DX8 cards or is it Voodoo only? Would have been nice if the bench would have been 01 / AM3, have on hand cards from most of the vendors, only one that will do 03 by design. Edited February 5, 2014 by Aleslammer Quote

Aleslammer Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 it will work with other cards as well. but for dx8 cards it's mostly useless, because dx8 cards already have the features 3d analyze emulates natively. Confused for a bit; Wiki showing the Voodoo line as DX8 cards thus the statement, Vintage3d, DX7 as well as a few other sites. Actually played a few games on the cards should have remembered. Not seeing Matrox and 3Dlabs in the directory listing when browsing video cards, personally done a couple of Matrox cards. Quote
Crew Turrican Posted February 5, 2014 Crew Posted February 5, 2014 yeah, the cards support dx8 but have no dx8 features like pixel shading. etc. Quote
Crew Antinomy Posted February 5, 2014 Crew Posted February 5, 2014 Aleslammer, anyway 3Danalyzer and stuff like that is forbidden at HWBot. Pixel shaders are required only for tests 2-4. First test doesn't need them (and works on GF4 MX without shaders). The problem is with features like Cube maps and other, the Futuremark whitepaper describes them. And that's what Voodoo doesn't support AFAIK. And the main one - how about 32-bit color on Voodoo? most of them don't support it. Quote
