Rookies Help Rookies

I very new to overclocking, been learning in the last 2/3 months and been having a blast overclocking all my hardware and playing around with it. I want to enter submissions to the Rookie Ryzen Rumble #3 and non of my submissions go through because of errors. I've provided stock runs for SuperPi 32M, Cinebench and GPUPI for my general HWBOT profile but when I try submit to the competition always errors. The only thing I can see I'm not complying with the "Competition Limitations" is this; "ONLY MEMBERS OF THE ROOKIE LEAGUE MAY PARTICIPATE - YOUR SUBMISSION DOES NOT COMPLY TO THIS RULE". Yesterday my 1080Ti died, one of two's GA551L (VOLTAGE controllers?) burned. http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/3033454/width/500/height/1000[/img] looking for replacement part because card has no warranty. I have tried submitting my CPU-Z validation link, which I believe is legit. However, the message comes back saying it is invalid. My link is a standard link: https://valid.x86.fr/ts44pj It does not have the additional language including the "-secret". I tried making it "private" by clicking the check box. That did not make a difference. Please help. CoachAub

It's a bit rhetorical, cos i know the Broadwell-E is not a great overclocker but damn, i cant' even get a 4.4Ghz stable with 1.5v. And if I overclock the Cache..... no way Jose. Freezes like a MF. I really wanna enter the Rookie comp (finishes today) but with 4.2 OC.... it's not even worth it LOL. Do you guys think the x99 Taichi is also not helping the OC much ?? Getting low scores on 3dmark05 with gtx 1070. I oc-ed the 3570k to 5.2 and still the sores are very low. Does windows version count?

Got a 3570k here. I run it 24/7 @ 4.5 with 1.12 v. For hwbot submissions i set it @ 5.0 with 1.32v. PC is cooled with a custom waterloop from ek (360 total rad). What would be a max safe voltage to push it even higher considering that i also use this pc for work and i can't afford to fry it atm

Hi, I'm trying to move to the next step with my benching and was hoping to get a wee bit of advice. I know my way around bios so not a complete novice, but I could do with some experience in "proper" benching. First stop is Win 7 and some 2D benchmarks. Does anyone have any recommendations for what to bench with this OS? I'm particularly interested in fine tuning my core clock and also RAM timings. I'll update my Sig with my benching spec in case anyone fancies helping out a wee bit here and there. Everything is under water.

Apparently I can't. Processor cores and stuff isn't detected at all. The nvidia GPU is dead so I thought of getting additional power out of the CPU and perhaps even the integrated GPU. I tried various XTU versions to no avail. I made a fresh Partition and a fresh Windows 10 install, stripped system down for Time Spy benching purposes. (disabling services, features etc. etc.) Everything runs well and right i bench a lot, tweak overclocks, timings etc. everything is like expected. This worked liked 3 days, then i get constantly 300-400 points less in Time Spy, in Firestrike its like 700 Points... I thought well maybe i have overdone some system service disabling or some windows updates are causing those problems. So i installed Windows 10 fresh again, stripped it down again. Hi, Im on win 10 i have a 1080 Ti and a i7 7700k. I can bench every other benchmark (timespy, firestrike, aquamark, 3d mark 2001 se etc etc) and my overclocks and boost applie normaly. Just in 3d mark 06 and 05 my gpu clock stays at 1569 MHz all the time, while the gpu is under 30-35° C and load is somewhat about 10% .... this results in way lower scores i could achieve. Does somebody know what the issue could be? Tanks

I just submitted an entry for the RTP competition and wanted to check that disabling 1xGPU by turning off SLI is ok, or if that still grants a boost to my scores? My score seems higher than expected judging by the other entries but according to afterburner GPU 2 was idle.

Hi, I'm having trouble posting my scores to enter the Rookie #41 competition. For HWBOT Prime, when I upload the data file I get "HTTP Status 500 - Could not resolve view with name 'fileTooBigFailure' in servlet with name 'springmvc'", and when I try upload my data file for GPUPI 1B I get "Invalid data file: Unable to decrypt the datafile", but when I validate the file within GPUPI 1B it states "The result file was successfully decrypted, but the data is invalid [invalid XML data]". Any ideas out there?

I5 3570k and ASUS M5G platform memory can be overclocked to the maximum number:)

Total Newb Here : Just ran the XTU Benchmark - 919 Marks (No idea if this is good or bad), but, XTU shows that the "Active cores" is 2 ? Is there some funk in the software ? This laptop is an i76700HQ with 4 cores. CPUID CPU-Z shows 4 cores. Speccy shows 4 cores ? Any help would be much appreciated !

I've posted some hints and tips for the current AMD Rookie Rumble on /r/overclocking, so I figure it's only fair I should share them here as well. Keep in mind I'm still pretty new at this so this definitely won't be a comprehensive list of tweaks, rather some general pointers for anyone considering entering, and maybe even some Intel users considering buying AMD kit to diversify their benching PiFast Pifast is a singlethreaded benchmark so core count doesn't really matter beyond 2 cores.
