  1. I was definitely using the latest version of XTU. Latest BIOS for board, too. Glad to know I wasn't the only one, though :-)
  2. If I set my BIOS to 50 x 100 and XTU reports "5.01" ghz can someone kindly advise me on how to avoid that in the future? Shouldn't that be counted as a simple flux considering CPU-Z shows 5000? This was the entry that was removed: http://hwbot.org/submission/3608318_marco.is.not.80_xtu_core_i5_7600k_1525_marks Not fighting it but would like to know if I really would need to lower my multiplier and than play with BCLK for next time?
  3. I just realized you were talking about the processor speed. That's gotta be some sort of bug because when you set your BIOS to 50 x 100 isn't the "5.01" just a fluctuation? How in the earth would I avoid that?
  4. Is that the version of XTU? Where can I find the information that states what versions are allowed? I thought I was running the latest version...
  5. I don't know what is so hard to believe about a core i5 sitting on an open bench in a small air conditioned room where it says at this exact moment it is 19 degrees Celsius? I'm running a good EK water block and a high performance pump with a liquid metal delid job. To be honest I now realize how bad of a job I've done on my one i7 Skylake and my other i7 Kaby and can't wait to delid them using proper sealant like I did this one. You really are in the extreme league? Don't be such a pussy and pump some volts into your CPU. I'm competing in the Gigabyte Beat the Heat series and I've got an i5 vs the majority i7s. I'm using throw away equipment so might as well go for it. Now, stop hitting me with your purse because if 1.65v made you wet your pants you're lucky this board limits me to 1.8 or you might have bunnyextraction running down your legs. You had a great score with your i5 the other day. Don't get all butt hurt that your All-In-One cooler (according to the picture you posted with your entry) didn't give you the edge you were looking for. Maybe the extreme league is turning you into a marshmallow and you could use some conditioning down here in the wastelands of the Enthusiast league.
  6. Wow, stop using the welfare All-In-One before you get all butthurt and report my entries that I work hard for.
  7. I don't know what to say. I mean, obviously I posted in response to what I read initially but you are right - it's nowhere to be found. Maybe they changed it to allow more people to compete but I know for sure it was there. Well, now I really must eat my words because this is the opposite of arbitrary and now I can even compete rather than complain. I'd like to hear from a mod just in case it was removed by mistake but as it stands it doesn't appear to be a requirement.
  8. the main rules don't state it but if you drill down into each of the tests it makes it clear that z270 only. If there is any doubt, though - feel free to ask OGS ;-)
  9. Thank you for sharing those points - as I said - it wasn't clear to me. Point B is makes a lot of sense. I'm not sure it's fair to say other vendors have done nothing since I know there are a lot of grateful winners that just came out of a couple of Asus sponsored comps. But I get it - you took issue with my "ostracizing" comment and you're probably right - it wasn't needed.
  10. I just can't believe Gigabyte would limit the competition to Z270 motherboards. I own two Gigabyte boards - both Z170. I'm trying to understand what the mentality here was but it escapes me. Of course, if there is one thing that Gigabyte is good at doing it's ostracizing their customers. So what lesson did I learn? Always read all the rules and never take things for granted before you purchase another CPU from Newegg just to enter a competition you can't actually enter LOL. My bad.
  11. Read the beginning of the thread, Xtreme Addict was nice enough to provide tool got additional volts to gpu/mem...
  12. I have two in SLI with full EK waterblocks - my temps don't ever go over 48 - 50 and I've pumped 200 mv through them on the gpu side when looking for my highest clocks. Here is an example: marco.is.not.80`s 3DMark - Time Spy score: 10382 marks with a GeForce GTX 1080 Ti So the answer from my perspective is it isn't an issue.
  13. Totally understand - was worth a shot ;-)
  14. I was about to pull the trigger on a new 7700k just now and remembered your listing. I need an extra CPU since so many of these contests require specific vendor motherboards and I'm sick of ripping my main workstation apart. Right now I can buy a 7700k from Amazon for $329.00 USD I think that translates into 287.99 Euros. I'll pay for shipping, too (I'll send whatever extra money it will take to ship via FedEx 3 day worldwide). Like you said, "make me an offer worst I can say is no"... Here ya go ;-) I'm in USA and I can pay with PayPal. If you have other methods you'll need to educate me.
  15. Sounds like you got things sorted? Just out of curiosity - how are you measuring your power output?
  16. Your issue might not be wattage but rather amps depending on your 12v rail. I just looked up the specs on your PSU and I guess you have the option of using either one rail or multi-rail by flipping a switch. Make sure you are using one rail mode or you won't get the full 80 amps out of your PSU and by looking at the spec sheet you most certainly won't be having a lot of fun if you are configured for multi-rail. Also, I know that 850w sounds like a lot but when you start overclocking anything you'd be surprised how quick you can run out of power. I have a similar system to you except I'm running two 1080 Ti versions and as soon as I modded my two Strix cards and started upping the voltage and overclocking them combined with my fairly high overclock on my CPU combined with my extra power from the extra volts to my memory, etc.and 850 wouldn't be enough. had the same card you currently have (1080 FTW - not FTW2) by the way, really great card but there is a reason why it has two 8pin power connectors compared to most cards which have an 8 pin and a 6 pin ;-) Nevertheless, if you say it isn't using more than 600w I believe you. But is it possible that with only a gold efficiency rating that might be an issue? I have a SuperNOVA T2 1600w with 133 amps just for comparison. I had to add a second PSU to my system to accommodate the watercooling, RGB lighting, etc. not because I didn't have enough wattage but because I kept blowing the breaker and had to split up my power by running it from two different circuits. The only other thing I can think of is that possibly with different BIOS strings the nvidia driver might be doing something stupid behind the scenes. I know they are technically identical cards but if the driver doesn't think they are who knows what kind of logic will be deployed. What about your SLI bridge? Is it the old style or newer High Speed bridge? Just thinking out loud. - Marco
  17. Wow, Mat - thanks so much for responding and I can't speak for everyone but thank you for all the work you do for the community and I look forward to the next version :-) - Marco
  18. Ok, got it... so it's not actually a timer bug. Got it. So I guess I'm still a little perplexed because those of us on Skylake/KabyLake using Windows 10 aren't affected by this bug so once again my question is why do I need to change anything for this particular benchmark? - Marco
  19. What PSU are you using and what is the rating?
  20. Did you send your FTW in for the upgrade to ICX?
  21. I have a question and before someone says "search" or it was discussed already in this thread I fully read from the last page in this thread all the way to page 30 and then fell asleep at my keyboard and now just woke up and decided to ask my question anyways at risk of being flamed or moderated - so here goes: My understanding is that as long as I have a skylake/kabylake processor AND I'm on Windows 10 then I'm not supposed to be forced to set the HPET settings in the operating system or the BIOS since my system isn't "bugged". When I run GPUPI there is no way for me to avoid setting it in the O/S or it complains about the HPET timer not being set. How can I bypass this? If I can't because I'm totally misunderstanding the HPET bug thingy please feel free to re-educate me... right after I get a coffee. ;-) Marco
  22. I'd like to purchase #5. I'm in USA so I'd like to purchase via paypal but I can also send with another mechanism if you care to suggest it. Really hope to grab them. Thanks, let me know.
