  • Computex on air, meant pouring ln2 into a foam cooler around the motherboard that has pots on it then closing the lid. Fails information but made Intel look good

  • I see mucho win for Intel, as people bought their cpus

  • quick LN2 update 6.4Ghz 32m 4c/4t 1.93v....CB -130C ..... this kept scaling with volts and cold.... and needed to be kept between -129 and -127C for this clock...............also (6.3Ghz 1.88v -124 )

got new cpu today, strange vid 1.263v ?? after battery out full cmos it starts at 1.363v more strange, maybe bios bug

4790k L423B494

but it seems nice air chip

5G 32M at 1.28vcore / 1.85vccin

tried low vccin like 1.65-1.75 but ive got bsod, so it seems to like 1.8v+

ln2 test soon, fingercross :D

on XP i can go lower vcore...

There was a Gigabyte Bios bug recently where the Bios was providing obscene voltages to the chips.

The latest Bios is supposed to fix it, so upgrade & it should be fine.

anyway, for psc and ln2 purposes i wont change the X04 bios.

crap cpu on ln2, -93 CBB / -106 CB

max clock 6.3GHz at even 1.90vcore/2.40vccin

:(

SuperPi32m max 6,2 @ 1,55-1,65v LN2

Cinebench R15 5,9 @ 1,45v LN2

6,3 no way :(

even with more vcore like 1.7-1.8v ?

why so low voltage ?

did someone try to delid one of these low volt air and ln2 sucker chips and test it over again? Farjam maybe? its quite funny that my L423B 4790k is about 100C hot under linx at only 1.17v 4.6G on advanced aircooling, airconditioned room

too bad i cannot afford to kill a 400 euro chip, but would be interesting to test it recently... maybe its just the bad thermal conduction causing the subzero problems with these new chips, otherwise i really dont understand why so many haswells fail and did not scale well with cold like others do with no reason according to aircooling pretests... its kinda annoying...

probably wont bother testing it with LN2 need a good ambient one of these really and already have one that does about the same/better, but with a stronger IMC

I removed the ihs from 2 cpu-s with different benefits. 1st was a L417B973 malay chip which did 6.1 max valid on stock configuration under ln2. Didn't bother to check air results with that one. Then I removed the ihs and changed the paste underneath with gelid gc extreme. Benefit is 200mhz, 6.3 valid and 6.1 superpi 32 but thats the max. Another chip is a 3419 costa rica which got delided and the ihs polished in addition because it was concave but the benefit is a short 100mhz in max validation. previous 6.1 is now 6.2 with 1.825v 2.4v vcin,no voltage scaling above this. I got a little mad and tried the chip with on die ln2 cooling but the results were far worse as the chip did only 5.9ghz max validation with the ihs removed. Chip is alive but useless. I hoped to gain at least 300mhz cause it was a hot chip and got bad ihs but no luck. Anyway it did 1.54v superpi 32m at 5ghz on air. 5170mhz 1 core valid with 1.55v and 5.2ghz with 2 cores with 1.54v after changing TIM.

I bought 2 other G3258 chips today. Both banana..

Just got one in today with a batch number which isn't on here yet. 4790K L414C937 will be testing soon.

another garbage 4790K

batch: L423B697

4.5ghz 1.20v linx stable

5ghz even 1.35v no boot

very hot chip 1.20v 100C load

another garbage 4790K

batch: L423B697

4.5ghz 1.20v linx stable

5ghz even 1.35v no boot

very hot chip 1.20v 100C load

if its very hot at even 1.2v im not surprised it is not willing to boot at 1.35v

try better cooling or delid it :P

IMC not bad SA +250 IO Digital and analog +150 for samsung D 2800 9 12 12 thight profline on Z97 formula

@subaruwc - did you test on win7 or 8? The chip does much worse than mine on air, I am really surprised it runs that high on LN2

I did the air pretest on w7 because i didnt know it has such a great impact on max cpu-z.

this chip should be 5.2 with 1.4-1.45 on xp.
