1Ghz Orion runs with 333Mhz Cache while Thunderbirds Cache is 1:1. Should be important in 3D.

That I know, was a question about how rare it would be to get a thunderbird instead of a Orion when buing a random slot A 1000Mhz.

Also have the innovatek oc card, but it does not work on Asus K7V rev 1.03 and older according to the description. Guess what... my board is K7V 1.01. So it does not POST.

The other problem is anything higher than 101 FSB in bios does not post.

110MHz with the jumpers works, but that's the maximum one can set.

Consider yourself lucky enough to own this 1.0Ghz Tbird cpu and forget all the rest.

That sucks, any interesting mods done or just died randomly from normal OC?

Depends on what you call normal.

I was leaning on it pretty hard (over 2v) on the chiller.

Pretty much normal for me.

It's ok. The road to high clockspeed is littered with dead hardware. ;)

Yes, I was extremely lucky to find that CPU and really cheap (classified as useless stuff).

I got a whole PC for like 25 euro - this T-Bird, the board, some generic sdram, quantum hdd, psu, case, cd-rom, riva tnt2 32MB.

How about 110 with jumpers and then more in win?

Have no windows installed yet, but will try. Hopefully will work, otherwise it is just plain boring - set 10x110 and that's it.

Isn't 2V and above pretty normal and "safe"?

It is 18nm CPU and although not a socket it should be similar to s.A.

Thats totaly a normal OC id say, 2V doesnt sound extreme at all for a thunderbird chip (atleast not for a socket A one..), hope you got some good scores saved before it gave up atleast :)

@I\.nfraR\.ed, thats an amazing deal, those CPUs seems really hard to come by as they only shipped in OEM computers... I was contacted by a guy that wanted to sell one on a swedish forum, he wanted $200 for just the cpu...

Whaaaaat?!

Haha, yea its true, no deal on that one! But must say Id like one of those after seeing Infrareds ressult in 3dmark99, those thunderbirds are amazing! Wonder if he can reach 10k even?!

Mr. Scott, have you looked at the core? These are really fragile and "chips" easily.

Yup, core looks fine.

I'm totally familiar with all of the old school hardware. Been doing this since the mid 90's. :)

Respect to Mr.Scott

Until right now infared is the only guy how has ATHLON 1000 Mhz cpu

For the first stage i think we have a winner here

The second stage PCMARK 2004 is tricky...

Hi, I am new here. I got this competition in my mailbox for some reason. Maybe I visited here doing some overclocking in the past. As I have some old hardware laying around here I did find a motherboard with Slot A, a processor that fits and a Riva gpucard .... can still compete with you ?

Absolutely! Get it fired up and post some scores! You have to be able to beat up on my Argon core, so many fancy Thunderbirds laying around in this competition that my CPU will make you look awesome.
