This is best motherboards i think.

1. Asus Apex XII (16 phases 70A, 2-slotes RAM, DDR4 5000)

2. Evga Z490 Dark (18 phases 90A, 2-slotes RAM,  DDR4 4600+)

3. MSI Z490 Godlike (16 phases 90A, 4-slotes RAM,  DDR4 5000)

4. Asrock Aqua (16 phases 90A, 4-slotes RAM,  DDR4 4700+)

5. Gigabyte Z490 Xtreme (16 phases 90A, 4-slotes RAM, DDR4 5000)

Your opinion?

Always go by user input, not by PR input.... Bios needs to be OC friendly too, don't forget about that. Plus maybe XP support too is a bonus for our niche community and last but not least our little PS2 Keyboard port present

Think that the MSI Z490I Unify may be interesting as well. Both the Z370 and Z390 itx boards were good for mem oc, but nobody really used them.

Reminds me of Alva doing gskill cup with one of them ITX boards, praying the VRM would hold it.... luckily for him the compo rules locked CPU freq at 6GHz

Z490I Unify has 8 phases with 90A Powerstages, should be enough on that side? It's a promising looking board for sure. My biggest concern is BIOS ready for C14 action? as well as voltages being fully open or not.

I would really enjoy a good memory-clocking board that doesn't break the bank.

@aerotracksI think someone should revisit the Z370I Gaming Pro Carbon with a good 8700k and mem. I have a feeling it shouldn't have an issue with 4933 ratio 14-13 on air, if mem is fine with default vtt.

Ik that's not z490, but it may be useable for binning mem

I absolutely agree with you.
We all remember how Apex and Dark walked close unison, although Dark was inferior in terms of these stated parameters.

This talk is off topic, but the successful follower lucky memory MB - was the MSI MPG Z390I GAMING EDGE AC.

XP support working on Asus and Asrock, so keep this in mind when purchasing :)

I'm unsure about the rest or the vendors but huge thank you to Asus and Asrock for doing this, it's the only way to play 32m properly.

Z390 Dark also supported XP, think Z490 Dark also does

I think it will as well, I just haven't seen it yet but hopefully Vince will show us the magic when it's ready.

Continued support is great for sure, but which ASRock one would be a proper 32M board?

same question here, 2 dimm board like Phantom Gaming ITX maybe?

Phantom Gaming ITX is likely not a good mem OC board. With the x570 board, even AHOC found that frequency was limited because the board sacrificed frequency for features.

I'm thinking the Aqua is the best we're gonna get from ASRock. Unless we can convince them to do a limited run or private group purchase of an OC board.

Aqua is ASRock top of the line $1099-$999 range

The best Z490 mobo + cpu is actually a 10980xe and an OCF/Rampage XD

10980xe $999 + OCF $300 = $1299

10900K $550 + Z490 $1100 = $1650

wtf happen???

I think, OC Formula and SOC Force LN2 without hope sunk into oblivion. Sad.

Even Apex first and next - have got E-ATX, now is minor ATX size.

EVGA DARK LGA3647 never saw the general public.

So, we will work with what will happen.
