Viss Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Could it be that Ivy is degrading after a few hours of benching? I could bench at 6400mhz Aquamark, now only 6200? Could it be the rather "high" temps on cascade that hurt it with HT enabled benchmarks ? Quote
Gamer Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Only tested it 3 times for WPrime 32M on LN², rest was without HT. This is the second CPU that overclocks less that before. I'll retest it with other coolpaste, I could only use AS Ceramique the last time. GC-Extreme is ordered again. Quote
dinos22 Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Just try from fresh start I have an E1 that sometimes does 6.55ghz 32M and sometimes won't do it at 5.9 even though mount is perfect, only thing I could think of is that it's got issues with thermal paste under ihs Hey gamer it must be the paste if it's old ceramique, try ceramique2 btw its better and can be close to gelid! Hondacity Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 yeah paste inside could crack..hence bad ihs contact...youch good luck ln2 benchers lol Quote
NoGuru Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 yeah paste inside could crack..hence bad ihs contact...youch good luck ln2 benchers lol I was just thinking about this today. Gawd I hope not. Quote
sin0822 Posted May 9, 2012 Author Posted May 9, 2012 yea hopefully it isn't the internal thermal-paste, but what else could it be? We know that Intel isn't going to use a paste that has a good temp range. Quote

Yeah I had the same problem and I chalked it up to a bad mount but I am considering this situation because there is no way I did a bad mount I hate to pull the IHS but I may have too. Quote
Splave Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 yeah paste inside could crack..hence bad ihs contact...youch good luck ln2 benchers lol can always replace it Quote

Same here. Today the system ran fine. 5 hours without any problem and also booting at -165°C http://hwbot.org/submission/2282331_der8auer_3dmark05_geforce_gtx_580_59817_marks Just try again and again. Quote
Crew Leeghoofd Posted May 10, 2012 Crew Posted May 10, 2012 it's your pot Roman, not the thermal paste that is excellent Very good CPU you got there man , 05 score can be higher with HT off ? Quote
der8auer Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 Thanks Yea erm...What shall I say Actually I just forgot that I had HT active Quote
