Hi guys, we had an oc weekend on the 27/28 March... sorry for the delay in posting everything but it has been a very busy period with Easter holidays etc... So, let's first talk about what we were going to clock: - P4 631 "Alien"... the one who reached 8.185MHz back in 2007, doing the WR, recently beaten by Tin at 8200MHz - P4 641: never tried that cpu, just opened the box and threw it on the R.Extreme under LN2 - Giga UD7+i7-950. We used an Asus R.Extreme with the two P4s. So, we started with the 631... we reached 7,5GHz in no time, then it became difficult... after one hour or so, we finally got the always magic milestone: 8.025GHz. http://valid.canardpc.co…

Hey friends! today I finally could manage my first single card session this year with my Gulftown fully DICE cooled. Hardware-wise it run quite smooth and I am very happy to report: all ok, no injuries, no deaths so far GPU pot is hard to handle with DICE - temps go up to -45°C during longer benches like 06 and vantage, I am refilling all the time. I captured some videos of me benching, hope to find the time to cut and post them within the next days. Pics from preparations: and now the scores - maaaan I am starving for LN2, DICE is just not half as fun Aquamark 3 375k @ 5476 MHZ CPU - had a run at 5.5 GHZ with over 380k but AM3 didn't liked me…

AwardFabrik on CeBIT 2010 Only 2 days left until Cebit in Hannover / Germany will open it's doors again. Since 2007 the AwardFabrik shows overclocking at the ASUS booth and we will continue this tradition of course. With a team of 4 people we will be there the entire time from tuesday to saturday. We hope that we can reach world records live on-stage. For that we are working closely together with ASUS and are already pretesting several systems. The program will contain freestyle-benching from Otterauge, no_name, stummerwinter and myself, as well as an overclocking contest between our visitors. Enermax will also make a lottery with PSU's and others as prices. Spo…

  6. Hey guys, sorry if I keep it a bit short without many pictures, I am still a bit done from 5 days of Cebit 2010 Thanks here again for all I've been talking to there - hope to see you soon again without beeing busy benching and "figuring it all out" the entire time Asus Maximus III Formula - very good 1m Efficiency - very predictable - high bclk (260+ 3D with 1.25 PCH and 1.48 IMC) and QPI (4600+) under cold - PostCard recommended - ROG Connect not entirely working with 1305 (should work with new) some voltages and sometimes bclk was not shown correctly - CPU vcore OVP 1.9V which can't be disabled in Bios with 1305 - won't boot when bios vcore (VID) …

  9. Crio and I plan to bench 'tomorrow' with my i7 950 and various graphics cards ( mainly 5870, GTX 280, 3850, 9600 and possibly some 8800GT 512MBs ) on LN2 & dry ice. Chris tossed an idea to broadcast the session on the net via livestream, and I agreed I'm currently setting up the account & channel, and will post again later on with a link to the channel. Live benching & nice dance/house/progr music altogether, join us

Thanks to EVGA and Corsair we were able to reach a new WR with a i5 661. We reached 6704 MHz on a EVGA P55 Classified 200 (E659) and Corsair Dominator GT. http://hwbot.org/community/submission/959981_splmann_cpu_z_core_i5_661_6704_mhz?new=true

Just a quick question. For these "extreme overclocked" systems you see at the top of the rankings, how stable and durable are they? Are they just some form of "peak burst" that lasts just long enough to register on the benchmarking application, or are some of these disembodied machines actually able to be used while throttled so high? Just wondering. Thanks in advance for any replies.

  12. I can't believe this is true, but fortunately ( for me : ) it is A few days ago... ok, ok! 2 days ago, I tested a Core i7 950 that did 4.8GHz SuperPi 32M on ice ( the regular one, not dry ice ) [ CoreTemp 37C/35C/36C/33C ] and the results were very encouraging ( 5.4GHz-something SuperPi 1M, 5.3GHz AquaMark 3, 5.16GHz Pi32M @ -58Cpot_temp, wPrime at 5.05GHz ). Today I had a few liters of LN2 ( 12 to be precise ). Yesterday I started preparing some Windows images with Norton Ghost ( something that made me waste a lot LN2 today :shakes: ) and then recovered the HDD to an all-around Windows XP Pro SP3 installation. I wanted to test the CPU, but I got tempted to do som…

Hi all! I got chance to test upcoming Intel Core i7 930 ES CPU. Specs are these, like you already know: *2.80GHz (21x 133) *2.93GHz Turbo (22x133) *8MB L3 *4 Cores / 8 threads *130W TDP *Price should be same as 920 now. So there is nothing new in this chip, except the turbo ratio. We overclockers know well, that even multipliers have been problem in core i7 architechture, so this multiplier 22 does not sound too promising. Basic use and mild overclocking will be easier with one extra multi, but for extreme overclocking the multiplier 21 is still the only usable. Here is the setup info: Intel Core i7 930 (week 45) EVGA Classified G.Skill Perfec…

  15. For those who do not know, I was at the MSI Elite OC Summit in Taipei this week to test and provide feedback to the MSI team. The actual overclocking was on the first day of the summit (on monday) from 11AM to 18PM. I was mostly testing out the Clarkdale overclockability on the Trinergy and then switched to LN2-ing the 5870 with 1h30 left to go. Anyway, here are the results ... sorry, no system pictures. I'm sure that many people will post a lot of pictures in the next couple of days. I was amazed that it was actually possible to run Wprime so close to 6G with this chip as initial LN2 tests lead to believe me that this chip was hardly capable of 6G. With only 1.7…

Hi all! Once again it was time to open doors to my friends from Russia. Of course our AMD legend Macci couldn't resist either and showed up early on the morning. Plan was simple: 40L (only) of LN2 and tray full of CPU's LN2 evaporated in few hours (9h), so this was short but nice event. Scores were not that bad either  Here is some pictures from yesterday (sorry about the hosting site blurring the pics): Eating some cake before doing the hard job: Then Russian bears started to test: New secret weapon in use again - Indium! I'm really tired and not really satisfied about this session, so I might try the E8400 of Blind tomorrow if the board didn't die on me http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=787770 VTT: 1.45 to 1.55V, didn't change that much in max FSB VPLL: 1.95V CPU: -85°C NB: -45°C to -50°C; coldbug issues below -60°C Most important settings for high FSB were: NB GTL: 0.58x CPU GTL: 0.63X / 0.65X CPU0 skew: 200ps CPU1 skew: 0ps Some pictures:

Time to start using the Hwbot forums more often; it's too quiet in here!! I've been testing the GD80 two months and a couple of days, but only recently I was able to lay my hands on a retail 750 (thank you, Leona from MSI). Got the chip in Beijing, went home, was bored, so threw it under some LN2. The whole session lasted about 5h maximum and wasn't particularly focussed on anything besides getting familiar with the retail i5. Anyway, I'm done talking, let's give some numbers. Chip: 10 sheets of paper towel - no condensation whatsoever. What's all this BS about eraser being the best Results For those who are interes…
