EVGA EPower-Board "Untouchables" Review Already announced few months ago the EPower-Board is available for retail customers now. The overclocking community asked for real before and after comparisons. Here are my results on a 8800GTS G92. Modifications at your own risk! Make sure you know what you're doing. Be aware that you will lose the warranty of your graphicscard. Note: This is just a translated and shorted version of my original Review you can find here: [vMod-eXtreme] EVGA EPower-Board "Untouchables" im Test EPower-Board: "Unboxing" The EPower-Board comes in a small brown box. Me and FireKiller had a hard time when playing with our delidded 6600K because of the paste cracking in different temperatures between -140 and -160 depending on many things like pot mounting and paste dryness. The solution came with glueing back the HS to the cpu. We used a black adhesive from 3M made for bonding metal with rubber. We applied the adhesive on the HS and then after putting it back on the cpu,we reinstaled the cpu into the motherboard socket and locked it to make it firm. We left it dry(without use) for a day.Today was the first quick try and everything worked great. No sign of cracks till -180 (didn't try lower) and the cpu was performing great. Hope th…

Hey guys, to all hardcore-oc'ers these days - buy the true HQ der8auer delid mate here for just 90€ I already said the new idea of removing heatspreaders from Roman is pretty clever and cool but if you are broke down or save money or just got a new 3D printer , or just wanna delid cheaper CPUs, or simply have the possibility for printing 3D...give it a try for a few bucks. No more bunnyextractionstorm...some of you guys seriously need to calm down This is only proof of concept, just to show it is possible to make a HS remover with a printer. Everything can be build within Autocad 123D Design which is a free software - it takes a bit to get used to i…

So I bought an Ln2 pot recently so I could do some extreme overclocking, here are some pics and results! This was my first time, and I think I got a bad mount, because CPU was still hitting 30-40c load temps with pot @ -60 Celsius. I will try again soon, I've gotta get the mount right next time to get better results for sure. I want to thank @ProKoN , @rtsurfer and @Jumper118 for helping me out with the prep and little tips here and there, appreciate it a lot guys. I think I did something wrong, because CPU temps were still going positive temps (are they supposed to do this...?) Big XTU run at 5.3 ghz on CPU, 5.2 on cache, and 2800 mhz…

I have benched twice with DICE now on a 4770k I had for a bit, and was wondering if my temps on the pot are high. I only get down to about -63c or so on the pot, I fill the pot just a tiny bit over the holes with acetone, then I crush up the dice and pour it in. I always put a bit of thermal grizzly on the probe and then slide it in the hole at the base of the pot, then I use painters tape to secure the cable to the pot so it doesn't slide around. Pic of crushed DICE: Pot is a Kingpin F1 Gemini 2.0, I use the fast base. ( should I be using the slow base?) Using a Craftsman 82139 multimeter & a k-type probe I got with my pot. Pic o…

Hi Folks! Would any of you have recent ln2 receipts you could share? Local supplier wants a fortune to refill my dewar but has agreed to match prices if I provide copies of legitimate receipts. Tia!!

  8. Hoping you guys can help here... I can pass 3D06 at 5.9GHz on my CPU when running just the CPU test. When running it after a GPU test, I was crashing if I tried anything over 5.6GHz. Temps were similar for both runs. Any tips? Running a 4770K.

Hey, i'm new to this overclocking scene and I would really like to push my hardware and my friends talk of this great XOC BIOSs for their mobos and I wanted to know if mine has any? I have already hit the max I can hit everything in my system on stock so now it's just a matter of finding a way to hit higher Thanks guys <3

I have a board that I would like to remove previous vaseline in the socket area that is difficult to totally remove between the mosfets. Majority of it I removed with Acetone and a toothbrush but would like to remove completely. Seems the best method I have came across is the dishwasher on very light load but worried about protecting the socket. You that have done it successfully is it enough to just use socket cover? Or something like stuffing with like Armaflex? Also on the board is a cheap looking aftermarket piece of copper expoyed or super glued to the NB for cooling. Any suggestions on to remove without damage?

  13. In any other sports records always require validation by spectators or a specialized firm. Usain Bolt can run 9.1s 100M in his backyard, but it would not count (in fact no one even tries to claim this). Even speed records of the fastest cars or bikes are always video documented. Why is this not so for overclocking? I can't remember there's been a major community push for this ever? Why? :celebration: :celebration:

  14. Hello, I would like to do the extreme overclocking of AMD10 7850K with AIR COOLERS. My Cabinet Corsair Graphite 780T Full-Tower, has already installed three fans, I can install three more, so as to improve the ventilation. I would avoid the water cooling, because I know that it may cause a loss. AIR COOLERS What do you recommend for the extreme overclocking of AMD10 7850K of ATX motherboard asrock fm2a88x Extreme6 +? If we need to add fans in the AIR COOLERS to improve performance, you can tell me?

  15. Hi all! It is long long time since I last wrote something over here or anywhere else. Nothing lasts forever they say.. Few weeks ago I was invited to Intel Sweden to have some hardware to play with and relax with friends and do some scores at the same time. Fun it was and hardware was good but time was our worst enemy. We got the setup running well 1 hour before my flight home and I was not able to extend my stay. There is no excuses..I was not able to push the setup as I wanted but we got at least some sort of result out and we had that small glimpse of fun that we used to have years a go. We got a nice pile of nice hardware! Then I tested ea…

  16. Hey guys, For a while we've been trying to figure out how to enable the new generation of extreme overclockers. With the Rookie and Novice categories + XTU and the Rookie Rumble, getting new blood to enter the world of overclocking and stick around has been quite successful. In fact, we have never seen so many people stick around and be active in the quarter after registration! We have some stuff planned to engage the Novice crowd further with Rumble-like competitions. The next step is to figure out how to enable new extreme overclockers. As far as I know based on (random) conversations there are three problems: 1) The cost to do LN2 competitively is too h…

I am looking to build a 3D gaming PC. I’d like to replace my entire system (PC, Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse). My question is would I have a more powerful PC if: I bought less expensive ram/CPU/GPU and overclocked them with a single stage phase change system OR I just bought more expensive hardware with stock cooling? To anyone who suggests the single stage option would you please list any vendors/individuals who sell them or link to a guide on building one if you have a favorite. Thanks for any and all input. I appreciate it. Cheers!

I had a request here from Junkdogg, a newbie to subzero overclocking who requested I show how I prep a motherboard for subzero overclocking. First, I'm by no means an expert, I started out with the same advice given to me by the friendly guys here at OCAU and have evolved from there. JJJC's excellent subzero guide here is the basis for my prep as you can see, but you'll see the slight differences I've made as you progress through. First off you'll notice I've covered my motherboard in liquid electrical tape spray (Performix Plastidip, bought from eBay). This is used as opposed to vaseline coating which JJJC has used in his guide. I started out using the exact same…

So, I have come here to see if anyone can help me figure out what I need to do to get a pressure gauge for this. Or is it something that I just need to find any liquid nitrogen tank gauge? I looked it up and know all about how to work it and what psi it needs to move X amount of LN2 Basically I need …

I want to get started with LN2/DICE overclocking and I have most of my setup planned, This is it so far Intel Pentium g3258 z97x SOC force 8gb G skill Tridentx Cheapest GPU I can find, probably something from EVGA b-stock 128gb ssd Piotres 60mm diameter CPU pot No test bench But I still have a few questions. First is how important is the power supply? I am choosing between the EVGA 1300 g2 which has more watts or the Superflower Leadex 1200w which is platinum rated and has fantastic ripple. Any other PSU suggestions in the price range would be appreciated. My second question is how to set up K type probes and digital multimeters and wh…

    Started by Guest TheMadDutchDude,

Hey all! I was just wondering which would be your preferred choice and I would really appreciate it if you could give me a reason why for your choice. I'll be teaming it with PSC memory and of course it'll be going cold on both the CPU and RAM. I've been keeping and eye on Bullant's thread about the OCF and PSC combinations and it is rather tempting to go for the OCF over the X-SOC, especially when you add the conformal coating into the equation. Any replies would be greatly appreciated.
