  1. Just wondering - What are our chances ATM looking like for this to still happen this year? Will be watching this thread to see. ?
  2. If this was just testing, I'm waiting to see what you get when you try. Great job!
  3. I'm still working with it ATM, my RAM and CPU-NB speeds are low but that will change before it's over with and I'll try it again. Just a matter of tweaking and so on..... And finding out why the board suddenly started acting up. Good board but quirky as hell at times. Once I get all of it sorted I'll revisit things and see how it goes.
  4. Thanks guys. I'm hoping to get round two in tomorrow, the bad weather has passed and looks like it will be a nice day for it. If I don't tomorrow I'll get around to it one day.
  5. Again, thank you guys for all the comments. Man, it even made Witchy come out of his hut and do a voodoo dance for us - Haven't seen that in a long time now! ? Even though the chip is gimped I'm keeping it, may need it for such once again.
  6. Thanks guys - I knew it had some speed even if it's a gimped chip - Which it is with a damaged IMC. Gee - How'd THAT happen you suppose? ?
  7. Does it even with a stock install (non-stripped OS) directly from a factory XP disk. I've already seen that you've had much better luck with later versions - I do not know what's causing it all but that's how it's been for me.
  8. Whatever changes were done between versions 1.59 and 1.60 is when these issues appeared. There was an obvious reworking aside from adding support for newer chips to the util and that's probrably the root of it here. Some boards still work with it, many do not anymore and I've had nothing but headaches with anything from 1.60 and later. 1.59 is the latest that will work without issue with any Socket A system.
  9. Speaking of benchmarks to be used or removed, WTF is this?
  10. Been awhile since I've popped in but here's some of my take before it's too late. 1: Yes, it does make it a more simplified process by having only two or three leagues max. HWbot is supposed to be about "The Best" and while that may not speak to all of it, there has always been the underlying issue about guys fudging on things concerning cooling. If the leagues are simplified and a new guy comes in and starts complaining about how they can't compete, then I guess they don't belong here. The hill is steep due to the level of competition and that's how it is because it's the bot. If those in charge here decide to cater, you water down the competitiveness of the site and make it all mean less than it should for what the site IS. It's either do what it takes to run with the big boys, sit on the porch or GTFO over it. Saying it's only the extreme guys that would come out in favor of a simplified league setup isn't exactly accurate either. I may be an Extreme guy now but I still do most of what I do on air or water, occasionally DICE and that's really about it. The very last LN2 subs I did were from last September with only one other set of LN2 runs beforehand, you can even check that in my profile if you want so... I'm not going to complain, I was going at it long before all the leagues were done and that didn't stop me in the least, that's how I got where I am now. If a person wants to get it done they'll find a way like I did but that's on the person like it was on all the others here too in their past - No excuses and frankly, I never gave any when I came up short myself - I just worked and found a legitimate way to get it done. I'm still doing it on whatever I can and that's the end of it. We only need leagues with the sponsored guys (Elite), the "Rest" and Rookies (6 months). 2: You know like I do sensors on boards can be way off/flakey/WTF?/ and honestly, it's possible to even mod a board to show a different temp that it's really running at. For example - Imagine my suprise when I saw the temp readout from one of my AM2 chips showing it in the BIOS idling at 461c...... I guess it was a bad mount right? Or maybe that smoking crater in the board is testimony to it? Of course not. BTW that one goes in the WTF category. ? Just another reason why we need the league system changed instead of going by and having to prove cooling.
  11. I'll take "C" - Final answer.
  12. I'd love to come back if I can, depending on finances at the time. Long drive but worth it!
  13. What's the term that can be used for this? "Simplify!" Makes things much easier to manage. Elite's, the majority and Rookies is the way to go here for far less issues and so on.
  14. It's too bad the result is invalid due to the rendered image itself being covered. This won't stand for long.
  15. Not in every case it's sandbagging in reference to #1. Sometimes it's defending your position with a certain bench/hardware type, I mean if someone beats a result you've had it's only natural to go after it to regain the top spot - It's called competition. I've done that before myself in cases when I got bumped and as long as that is the case I don't see a problem. Sometimes I'll get bored and drag out a certain piece and rebench just to see if I can improve the result and if I do, I'll sub it - No harm, no foul. Concerning #2, Largely the same as #1 but the difference I see is the intent of it when done. With redo's (Actual rebenching) of an older result it's not like you'll score even more points (Not supposed to anyway) to improve your #1 result in the rankings, points should more or less remain the same in that way because the ranking itself doesn't change but does have a benefit of making it harder for someone to take that away from you. Yes I've done that before too with no change in points awarded because the ranking itself didn't change, equaling no additional points scored. With #3 - Nope, that's definitely gaming the system, making it work in a way it was never intended to for getting points. Any runs done and subbed for that season should actually be done within that season to be fair about it. Some have brought up the issue about backups stashed, from what I'm thinking as long as it's a sub that hasn't been submitted before it's fair game but deleting and reposting a previously subbed result is a definite no-no. Just my 2 cents for whatever it is or not worth.
  16. Just a suggestion. We use wallpapers for comps, why not allow teams to create an "Official" wallpaper they would use with the current year as part of it? In the past some (Myself as an example) had a personalized wallpaper we used - As long as the current year is part of it, that may be acceptable too but the team approach is probrably the better of the two. Either that or the bot could do something similar, perhaps as others said, use notepad or whatever. Do remember that with older benchies the newest CPU-Z versions don't work with older hardware at times, an actual wallpaper would at least circumvent this issue in cases the most recent CPU-Z doesn't work with the hardware being benched. I know with OSIBS it has it's own wallpaper but there will be runs done outside of it too along the way. Whatever is finally decided as a solution is fine by me, I can do whatever.
  17. I only recently made the move to extreme, I still do the majority of my benching on chilled or lesser forms of cooling. I too have ran into trying to beat the guy above me with higher clocks but just coudn't get around them - And then after trying different tweaks found that one thing I was lacking and finally beat the result they had. Kinda reminds me of the comp I was in way back in Aug 2011 over at OCA when that place was kicking hard. Although at first I was a real longshot to be competitive vs the others involved, much less in having a chance at the win I didn't let that deter me and in the end wound up going head-to-head with Sofos for the top spot. He won and I came in right behind in 2nd. Sofos said I really pushed him for that win (He was just being nice - I know he could have cold-smoked my ass TBH) but the compliment was appreciated and drove me to do even more - So I did. In that single month I learned more about Super PI than I had ever known before and what was gained then still serves me well. Just shows if you really put in the effort you can come away with results worth going after, plus the knowledge of how it's done you can use later. You get from it what you put into it. That's history now but I still use what was gained, I earned it so I use it. Cooling methods don't always equal great results, I've actually beaten one or two on LN2 using watercooling before - Ridiculous yet it happened. So.... I guess those guys just sucked right? I'll let you guys decide that for yourselves but in my case I'm always tweaking and applying what I've learned regardless of cooling used. And if I happen to do a sucky run that will show too and I can certainly do those - Also regardless of cooling. Keep it fun or it's not worth doing as a hobby or just at all period.
