March 20, 201411 yr I heard rumors about better TIM in haswell refresh. Possible..... http://wccftech.com/intel-haswell-refresh-processors-codenamed-devils-canyon-launching-mid-2014-unlocked-design-improved-tim/
March 20, 201411 yr Crew Possible.....http://wccftech.com/intel-haswell-refresh-processors-codenamed-devils-canyon-launching-mid-2014-unlocked-design-improved-tim/ 4790k in june?? so my cpu only has to last 2 more month
March 20, 201411 yr Really really hoping for more than just a change in Tim, but I can't help but think that a new revision would just be very very unlikely from Intel. I don't want any more cold bugs :'(
March 20, 201411 yr Great news about the new haswell cpus Devil's Canyon. A variant of existing "Haswell" silicon in the LGA1150 package, Devil's Canyon is codename for a breed of hand-picked chips with "insane" overclocking potential. In addition to binned dies, the chips feature a performance-optimized TIM between the die and the integrated heatspreader (IHS). The dies will be placed on special "high tolerance" packages, with equally "special" LGA contact points. The chips will be designed with higher voltage tolerance levels. Devil's Canyon is expected to branded under the existing Core i7-4xxx series, possibly with "Extreme" brand extension. It will be compatible with motherboards based on the Z97 chipset. Nice cant wait to see if they are better than the ones we have now.
March 21, 201411 yr 4790k in june?? so my cpu only has to last 2 more month Not sure about June, as previous info about K-Series has been targeted for Q3 2014......... The next in line is the Devil's Canyon, which should be at least cheaper than the Intel Extreme Edition Haswell-E parts. The Devil's Canyon, despite its new name, is not exactly a new part as it is an improved Haswell architecture with an improved packaging materials. According to Intel, the Devil's Canyon is "re-engineered for enhanced performance and overclocking" and will most likely end up to be an improved and most likely unlocked Haswell architecture at an "affordable" price point, which always worked well with both gamers and enthusiasts on a budget. The new Devil's Canyon will also feature improved thermal interface material (TIM) and will be supported by the new Intel 9 series chipset. Unfortunately, Intel did not shed any details regarding the availability of the Devil's Canyon but did note that we will see more info about it "very soon". http://www.ocaholic.ch/modules/news/article.php?storyid=9380 Edited March 21, 201411 yr by stasio
March 21, 201411 yr Crew i agree with moose, coldbug is nicer for me too . whole board freezes up too quickly with no-cb cpu's
March 21, 201411 yr Hahaha...My f**king 4670K said good bye on last sunday. Batch#:3329B715 Costa Rica What's happened? 4,2Ghz, auto voltage ~1,2V(I do not know exactly),all in auto,XMP ram@1600Mhz Cl9-9-9-24 cr2 My gf played with Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition. The PC Shutdown, she try to restart, happening nothing. Me too try it,and I check everithing(rams, psu, etc . . .) something died. I tried rams on single mode... nothing,i tried another PSU,nothing,i tried my PSU another PC,its working good. Monday I returned to the store and handed warranty service agent. Thay said me on tuesday in email: The Mobo said good bye. 3-4 weeks and i get new or refurbished I can do nothing i am say ok. Today I took my CPU,and buy a new cheeap mobo(another shop),than i can use my PC. I did rebuilt my PC... Not working...back to the shop. The mobo,or the cpu sucks, pls check out. cpu not working,he tried another mobo, not working. Back to the original shop, cpu not working. The boy said me:maybe your new mobo. I said: A-A-A,we tried 2 mobos and the cpu not working. I gave the CPU for him. He said me: I dont now why but your mobo and cpu died. I asked him:Are you sure? Are you tried my mobo with anodther CPU? He said:Nooooooooooooooooooooooo Maybe your PSU kill them. I gave my PSU from my backpack. Here you are, i did buy here He is look big And he check my PSU. He said:The PSU is ok,and very silent. A said, I know, because it's Be Quiet I will got a new mobo and 4670K...Hahaha...Haswell refress. I hope it will better batch. But i have an unnecessary mobo now. I hope another shop give back my money or i can change for another product. For exp.: HDD OR I have a spare mobo. It's very funny story. I already know and laugh. Stupid shopkeeper.... ***Sorry for my english. I hope understand everyone.
March 21, 201411 yr i agree with moose, coldbug is nicer for me too . whole board freezes up too quickly with no-cb cpu's Its much harder to get good scores on Haswell That is real benching to hold temp at exact point your Cpu likes :nana:
April 5, 201411 yr Does anyone know 4770k batch L337C222? I don't have external gpu yet, so hard to try it.
April 12, 201411 yr 4770k L313B731 = 4500mhz 1.33v+ for cinebench and 4.8 no boot even 1.4v 4770k L337C223 = 4500mhz 1.28v for cinebench and 4.9 no boot even 1.4v
April 21, 201411 yr 4770K L349C265 4c/8t Win7 x64 booted on air: @4.6 GHz 2 of 12 @4.4 GHz 4 of 12 @4.5 GHz 6 of 12
April 30, 201411 yr Crew Now will be 4790k silicon....... we got to beleive stasio! Ok so lets take a look. Intel say, 4790k improves #1. TIM (hopefully solder) #2. updated packaging materials IF the TIM is solder like sandybridge, they would first need to metallize the DIE to gold to use their 80Au 20sn GOLD-TIN solder. Metallizing the DIE is quite a process so that COULD refer to the "update in packing materials". So overall it might just be a TIM update. I really hope not though, i really want this CPU to fly. Hopefully the update in packing materials is something related to fixing the CB
April 30, 201411 yr Give us fullpot, no CB, IMC that doesn't grenade and chips within 300mhz of each other. Dreaming
April 30, 201411 yr i tested nearly 20 46/770k from first batches and all duds so if ya have no luck then there never was good hasfail silicone.
May 12, 201411 yr ordered 3 more 4770ks from amazon today.... Dont you just hate when you know they are going to suck before they even arrive?
