  1. During the second half of 2011, AMD has released two new architectures, one of which is FM1 APU platform released in early July. This platform is mainly integrated with the built-in GPU in CPU by AMD for the first time, and the 3D performance thereof is greatly improved than before. Regrettably, FM1 is incompatible with AM3+ pin under its own brand. I have already shared three articles about the test of FM1 platform. FM1 mentioned above belongs to the product line of the medium-level or entry-level platform, while Bulldozer is the new platform advanced than medium-level of AMD, which is a hot term on the Internet. By following the design of the previous …

Hi, I hope someone can help me out here. My 2600K does a 56x. But I wanted to go further. When I put multi 56, I can't overclock with the base clock. With 56 multi, all I can do with the base clock is 100.1! Is there something I can tweak to get some more MHz? I have 2600K, Asus P8P67 deluxe and GSkill RipjawX Cas 6 1600MHz. I'm sorry for my bad english and thank everyone for your answers in advance!

Was benching 06 last night (single GTX580) and i'm not happy with my Deep Freeze FPS. I was running low LOD because I thought my SM2 scores would benefit (being CPU bound,) but it looks like it did so at the expense of DF. Is high LOD the way to go? Would it boost DF enough that it overpowers the loss in SM2? Getting this score took FOREVER and quite a bit of LN2, so spending hours (and litres) in pretesting doesn't appeal right now Cheers

  5. In early July, AMD launched the latest architecture Llano APU. Since the launch, it has already been two and a half months. Initially, the only CPUs that can work with it were the relatively high-end A8-3850 and the A6-3650. The market prices of course were a bit higher. For chipsets, there are two options, the A75 and the A55, adopting the latest FM1pinout design. For now, it appears the price difference between the two is not very wide. The main advantage of the A75 is its support for the new SATA3 and USB 3.0 specifications. If you have sufficient budget, this is the better choice. The Llano APU was relaunched in early September together with three ne…

  6. Intel released the new generation framework of Sandy Bridge at early January, 2011; meanwhile, LGA 1155 is provided for support. Compared with the specifications of several platforms in the past, the LGA 1155 is provided with a lot of modifications in CPU overclocking (OC) at this time. Firstly, when a CPU with the external frequency of 100 MHz is overclocking, the other surrounding clock rates will be increased accordingly, thus the upper limit will fall around 110 MHz. Although the new 32nm process is introduced into the new generation 4 cores CPUs, overclocking can be only achieved by using frequency multiplication. The model names of i5-2500K and i7-2600K that a…

  8. GIGABYTE launched new series in early 2011 called G1-Killer with Intel chipset. First series use X58 chipset and there are 3 models, G1.Sniper, G1.Guerrilla and G1.Assassin. They are same as own high end model UD7, but have less power phases and PCI-E slots. G1 uses high end product components and focus on Gaming which enhance audio and network design. So far, Intel most popular product is Sandy Bridge. It’s been launching less than 1 year, however, there are Z68, P67, H67 and H61 chipset can supports SNB CPU. You can see Sandy Bridge can combine from entry to high end as users demand. From LGA 1155 CPU and chipset quantity, you can see the product life cycle sh…

Yo, it's been a while I really had fun benching. After more than 10 2500K and 2600K I ended up like everybody: frustrated and fed up with 2D benching. Then I had a move from Berlin to my old hometown. Finally I am living together with my gf after 7 years of long-distance relationship and all together 10 years beeing together with her. It was about time! My new benchroom is awesome and already looks like I've been living there for 5 years Rather crazy how much hardware you collect during 10 years of overclocking... Well let's get to the point: I liked rev4 from the very beginning but didn't had the time yet to go for some good hw-scores. During the last 3 …

  10. Jan 2011, Intel launched new structure LGA 1155 socket Sandy Bridge platform. In the first stage, Intel focus on mid to high Core i5 and Core i7. The chipset is P67 and H67 which are also positioning at mid end. For the entry product, Intel launched H61 and Core i3 in March. In the market, Core i3 2100 or 2120 price is still high for entry CPU segment. For the users, lower than 100USD Sandy Bridge CPU is more suitable for office or worksheet users. LGA 1156 has Pentium G6950 which is cheaper and enough performance. However, in Taiwan, G6950 is the only model for 1156 platform. Sandy Bridge launched 3 Pentium CPU, G620/G840/G850, in May. It’s better structure …

  12. Solid-State Drive also known as SSD is new PC storage in last 3 years. It owns linear transfer performance and super-fast seek time. The performance is leading HDD obviously. Some users also cannot be used to HDD speed after using SSD for a while. Comparing to 100/80 MB/s old type SSD and 100/100 MB/s HDD booting and opening file, the SSD is still much faster. SSD performance isn’t like HDD unstable dues to inner and outer gaps. Also, SSD seek time is very fast. These 2 points make SSD performance is much faster than HDD. As SSD performance development roadmap, it’s been stuck at 300MB/s for a period. It may cause by SATA2 bandwidth. Since SATA3 becomes popular…

  13. Heyo, So, as you all know, this weekend there's the third edition of Tones OC Academy in Utrecht, Holland. This time, we'll be cooperating with MSI. Of course, we have to prepare ourselves and check that all the hardware that the students will be using is actually functioning properly, so we spend some time figuring out if that was indeed the case. As you already know, there will be 20 lightnings at the disposal of our students. So ... let's test them on stock air cooling and find out the average capabilities of this graphics card! Since these cards are totally, totally retail, I figured it should be quite interesting to see what these cards are worth when they ar…

  15. Intel released the Z68 at the end of May in this year, which is the latest chipset of Sandy Bridge. As Z68 is the advanced chipset for the latest Intel platform, the MB brands released various motherboards for Z68 within a short time. I also mentioned some related information in the last test report of the Z68. The features of P67 overclocking and H67 output display are integrated into Z68. To put it simply, the Z68 is the chipset that possesses the most technologies and features among the platforms of Sandy Bridge. There are four kinds of Sandy Bridge chipsets, namely, H61, H67, P67, and Z68, which are ranked from the lowest price to highest price. The…

  19. This tread will be used to raise our opinions as benchers on this community regarding PCMark05 HB Rules , FM Rules and the correct submision for ranking on PCMark05. Please disscuss the subject in here. 1. Can hwbot confirm exactly what FM have done as far as the 220 cap xp start up HD test , is it 220 ,300 ,400 ? 2. It would be nice to see in the screenshoot a pic of device manager with the alleged HD used (Acard raid0 , SSds Raid0 , i-Rams etc...). Thank you. chispy.

I did run PCMark05 at 5250 Mhz with a Core i7 Extreme 975 (100% stability), memory almost 2100 Mhz (8-8-8-22) and reach only 13000 points. I got higger scores with a Athlon 2 X2 240. Somebody knows whats hapeened? What can i do to increase much points to my score? Thanks Fabi

  21. Hi! I dont have much to say about this card yet, so here are the pictures of it first. I have been testing the card on aircooling and it is very silent in normal operation. It is the most extreme VGA from asus, so it is not ment to be used with aircooling anyway. Ln2 test are coming in some point, if I have time.

  22. Intel launched 4th chipset for Sandy Bridge in May. It’s Z68 which is familiar to many users. Z68 chipset is most high end one for Sandy Bridge. You can OC and have GPU output. Z68 is integrated with P67 OC function and H67 multi graphic output features. Even though Z68 doesn’t have great OC ability as Internet rumors, it actually adds 2 new technologies. It really helps for data transfer and multimedia performance. The First is Intel Smart Response Technology which using small capacity SSD to speed up HDD OS and software. The other is Lucid Virtu GPU virtualization technology. Users can switch between built-in GPU and external graphics card. For the marke…

  23. From 2007, FOXCONN has begun to introduce middle and high end MB products, hoping to establish its own-brand products and create the complete MB product line ranging from high to low end. During the period, FOXCONN has unveiled P35/P45/P55/X58 MB products, etc. However, as the choice is limited and some factors related with low visibility market, it makes us feel a period of silence since the beginning of P55 products. Early June, we have seen FOXCONN P67, Z68 and X79 in Computex, showing that from the impression of previous Quantum Force, each MB has a unique naming. This time, Intel P67 chipset is called Rattler, targeting the main route of racing judged fr…
