Hey all, This isn't an official message from HWBOT, but I wanted to fill you guys and gals in on the latest step in transitioning HWBOT from a project of a Belgian company to a standalone Taiwanese company. We officially moved headquarters to Taiwan last November, so we're in our third quarter of business. The the first two quarters our focus was mainly on getting OC-ESPORTS up and running properly (remember how slow it used to be?) and establish the World Tour platform and events. After our third and final event of the year at Computex, we slowed down a bit internally and focused on finding a solution for the pace of feature and site development. In that respect …

Ever since LN2 became a real thing in the world of overclocking, we've had people complain that the reward for running LN2 is too high compared to decent air overclocking. To make a long story short: I was thinking on how to improve this and this is what the brainstorming led to. Below you can find some slides with the explanation. I know some of you guys don't like slides, but I need it to explain to dev and others exactly what I mean. So please bear with it. TL;DR - Global Class Points use the same algorithm like the Global Points, but only takes into account participation within the League Class (eg: Enthusiasts). Each score is graded overall (Combined) and per…

Classic error: error Oops. Something went wrong. We could blame this on you but it`s most likely our crappy coding skills. You could try again or nudge our developpers for fixing this. Edit: Can't submit GPUPI either.

Hi. How are the OC-sports participations/points displayed on a users page? It's clearly not by value, date or Alphabet Shouldn't they ideally be ranked by value, within the 365 day "active" period, then the "out of date" scores listed below that, by date? I'm having a LOT of trouble "seeing" where a users points come from, now that the userpage displays the TOTAL, not the total that contributes to ranking (ie..... WR + best 20 HW + 15 OC-sports + Best 15 Global) The info that informs viewers of how a ranking is made up STILL needs to be made more prominent. When did Elite members start to have hardware points contribute to their ranking?

I'm not sure if this is the right forum, or if it's been mentioned elsewhere. Since i've been away, the new leagues have been introduced. In short, I have no idea what the requirements are. The same explanation appears for every leaderboard, see below: If possible, please can this be tweaked so each league/leaderboard has their own entry requirements shown as well as the cutoff before a member moves up a league?

Hey all, The implementation of Rev6 is speeding up as we finished the design and are now implementing the actual code. It's quite a lot of work, so the release won't be for tomorrow, but it would be good to start organizing this in further detail. To be more specific: I am looking for a team of Competition Community Leaders who can manage hardware and benchmark restrictions for the various divisions in Rev6. For those who are not yet up to speed, the structure is as follows: 1 season 7 divisions 3 rounds 5 stages That makes a total of 105 configurations to configure for the entire year. The total of course depends on the amount of divisions we are g…

Hey all, Here's the third and probably the most controversial idea/plan for Revision 6. In the PDF linked below you can find the explanation on why and how we want to achieve an autarkic overclocking platform. For those who don't know, "autarky" is a term used for when a system is self-sustainable. NOTE! This is not a plan that has already been set in stone. It's an idea, but we might not implement it. NOTE2! In the document we describe the situation when everyone who wants to participate has to chip in, but if the community feels more comfortable giving this as an option, we can consider that. So in other words: those who chip in, can participate to win. Thos…

Hey all, So here's the second part of the R6 plans. Again I've added everything in a PDF and it's a fairly long read. Any feedback is always welcome! PS: just to make sure you all get it - this will not replace the existing Teams League. Just additional. PDF: http://news.hwbot.org/revision6/rev6doc_teamcoefficientExplained2.pdf For who go tldr, here's a video we used internally to explain this system.

Hey all, Now that our designer is wrapping up the design and has made me really excited about the upcoming R6, I want to share this with the rest of the community. But firstly I would like to express my gratitude to the people who read through the second revision of the text and provided some comments and suggestions. Those are included in this version as well for reference. Please understand that this is an alpha draft of the R6 document we're planning to publish a month or so before the release. It includes about a third of the full document and mainly deals with the explanation of the divisions. Feel free to read through the document and ask questions or gi…

What if there was either a secondary ranking OR a change to the global ranking system where, globally, benchers were ranked as either 2D, 3D or mixed benchers? "World #x 2D bencher" etc There's a few possible ways to determine it: x% of a users top 15 global scores being 2D or 3D (as applicable) ALL of their top 15 global scores? x% of their global AND hardware scores .....100% of their global and hardware scores? (if someones entire global and hardware contribution is 2D or 3D, IMO, that deserves some mention) I imagine the HWB engine could be set up to automatically rank users depending on their submissions, they wouldn't have to make a decisio…

Attentive forum viewers may have seen the revision 6 sub-forum around for a while, but never a thread. That changes today. As tradition dictates, every year at the end of the year we plan a new revision. This is not any different in 2013. We planned, and have already begun development of the sixth revision of HWBOT for a couple of months now. Starting from the original ideas, to discussing with key partners and community members, to precisely writing down the things we want to do, to composing this thread. We are still a couple of months away from production-ready code, but the development has advanced far enough to initiate the public discussion. The Plan - Intro. …
