The official Country Cup 2020 thread.
niobium615 replied to yosarianilives's topic in HWBOT Competitions
"A VALID Futuremark verification link is required registered on your HWBot name" How strictly is this enforced? I think my Futuremark name might be slightly different than my HWBot name (NiobiumOC or something), is that okay? -
[GUIDE] GTX 1080 Resistor Power Mod

They're just resistors, so the orientation doesn't matter. As long as both pads are connected, you're good to go. -
Cheapaz Chips 2019 Planning Thread
niobium615 replied to yosarianilives's topic in HWBOT Competitions
I'm all for picking a cheap GPU for this comp, the 1030s last year were pushing the limit a bit. $90 cards are substantially less disposable(for lack of a better word) than $25 cards. One thing I'm worried about with HD5450s though is that they might be too slow. GPUPi 1B was used in both S1 and S2 of cheapaz because it's an excellent bench for this comp, simple to run, scales perfectly, and it's almost entirely agnostic to the performance of the rest of the system. Unfortunately no one's subbed it on a 5450 yet, but it looks like it could be a 30+ min bench.(Or impossible to run altogether) That's too long IMO, especially on a comp where you're expecting lots of people to run DICE/LN2, potentially even for the first time. Anyone else have thoughts on this? -
Cheapaz Chips 2019 Planning Thread

Looks like I should have spent some more time investigating before voting. RX550s have gotten cheaper than I thought, and they support BIOS modding(AFAIK), so they sound like a solid option. 1030 DDR4 could be fun, but eh, it's probably too close to S2. -
Exactly what richie said. Sorry about the screenshot settings not matching my post, just grabbed it from a bunch of screenshots that I took a while ago.

Have you checked to make sure the CUDA - Force P2 State flag is set to Off/False in the driver? Should be the default value on consumer Turing cards AFAIK, but it might have gotten changed somehow.

It doesn't seem like we have enough opinions in this thread, so I'll throw mine in too. -Agreed with a lot of the others above, having Rookie and Novice seems redundant -> merge these two into a single Rookie league with a time limit of somewhere between 3 and 12 months(maybe 6 months would be a good number) - From what I've seen, the biggest issues with cooling come from mods having to define a line between ambient water and chilled water; I have seen few/no accusations of people in Apprentice running LN2, it's usually pretty obvious from clocks. There's also a clear separation in expense and complexity between sticking a radiator outside/in a bucket of ice vs. SS/DICE and colder. Anyone can do the former, jumping to the latter shows a more serious commitment to OC. This lends SS and colder as a good starting point for the Extreme league. - OTOH, there's also a reasonable argument to be made that SS/DICE is substantially cheaper for most people than LN2/Cascade. That would make "colder than DICE" the other possible cutoff for the Extreme league. Personally, I think the SS cutoff makes more sense, especially since anything warmer is much more achievable for the "average" user, but I wouldn't have a problem with either one. Either way, I think chilled water setups should definitely be allowed in Enthusiast. - I'm in favor of having an Elite league, even ignoring the question of binning, having access to ES BIOSes, mobos, software, etc., along with an easier time getting technical questions answered, does seem like a substantial advantage to me. In the end, I don't really care though, I wouldn't be heartbroken if Elite was merged with Extreme. Just gives me another excuse when I can't get first place a reason to push harder.

niobium615 - Core i7 4770K @ 6000MHz - 1232 cb Cinebench - R15
niobium615 replied to vanno's topic in Result Discussions
CB was reading as -135Cish on the meter, probably closer to -140C actual. -
Honestly, it seems a bit strange to me that the Titan V would be allowed while the Titan Z/Pro Duo are both banned. Any rarity or cost argument that could be made against either of the dual GPU cards seems like it would be an even stronger case against the TV.

You should have said something about needing a board in philly, you could have used my Z97 SOC LN2. @yosarianilives spent more time benching on that board than I did anyway(and developing a serious love-hate relationship ). -
Guess I'll be the first to bite. mllr, you've got PM.

Interested in the 7700K. Has it been tested for R15 freq/any other multicore benches?

niobium615 replied to funsoul's topic in Announce event and group sessions
Awesome event! It was great meeting everyone, and getting to do some benching at the same time. Special thanks to funsoul for organizing the venue and sponsors, and steponz and Lochekey for running the competition. And of course, thanks to Corsair for sponsoring the event. Hope to see you all next year! -

I'll be coming as well. Going to be staying with that @yosarianilives guy, hopefully he's not a psycho or anything Nick : Niobium (Still waiting on a name change request, not like the bot has been busy recently or anything ) Profile : http://hwbot.org/user/niobium615 Team : /r/overclocking Do we need to bring an empty dewar to run LN2, or is that all sorted? -
HWBOT Rev7.1 point recalculation in progress
niobium615 replied to richba5tard's topic in HWBOT News
There seems to be a rather strange issue with the GT1030 GDDR5 ranking summary page, it's throwing an error when loading the superposition subs. It's unique to that GPU though, so I'm not sure what's going on. On an unrelated note, are there any plans to start fulfilling name change requests again any time soon?
