mllrkllr88 Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 (edited) Greetings! I see there is no thread started for this event and I have a question so I figured I would get one started. Event Link: OC eSports Here is the schedule as stated in the rules: Stage 1: GPUPI for CPU 1B (runs 01/05 - 14/05) Stage 2: 3DMark Ice Storm (runs 01/05 - 21/05) Stage 3: Catzilla 720P (runs (01/05 - 31/05) Will a GT730 GPU be required for participation in stage 1? I would assume its not required but I wanted to confirm. I am concerned because the schedule is very tight and I am not sure the required GPU will be in my hands by then. Thanks for your time! Administrators websmile Posted April 27, 2017 Administrators Posted April 27, 2017 For 2d stage the gpu is not specified, you can use another card for this Quote
Fasttrack Posted April 28, 2017 Posted April 28, 2017 Noob question ( way of speaking )... Are Z270 Gigabyte SOC boards considered LN2 ? I know they are not, but just to confirm. Thank you Quote
Administrators websmile Posted April 28, 2017 Administrators Posted April 28, 2017 The boards meant have the LN2 in name, the z27ß Gaming SOCF is retail and can be used of course Quote

kimandsally Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 For 2d stage the gpu is not specified, you can use another card for this Hi I've just looked at the rules and it looks like the GPU is specified as the GT730: OC eSports "STAGE 2: 3DMARK ICE STORM (RUNS 01/05 - 21/05) limited to Core i3 7350K limited to GeForce GT 730" Please would you confirm that only the GT730 can be used? Administrators websmile Posted May 1, 2017 Administrators Posted May 1, 2017 For the 3D stages(GPU benchmarks), 730GT only, but for the 2D stage with gpupi for cpu (stage1) it doesn´t matter which vga you use Quote
GtiJason Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 For the 3D stages(GPU benchmarks), 730GT only, but for the 2D stage with gpupi for cpu (stage1) it doesn´t matter which vga you use Bought an el cheapo gt730 but GPU-Z is calling it a gt630. I know it wont be competitive since it's a DDR3 ver. but I may not be able to buy another and already bought a Z170x SOC Force and average 7350k. Question is, is it allowed. Core is GK208-301-A1 28nm 64bit bus 1024mb ram with same default clocks as gt730 pictured GPU-Z tab of mine on left vs a gt730 sub by IntelGuy Quote
Administrators websmile Posted May 2, 2017 Administrators Posted May 2, 2017 Does the specs sticker say GT730? If yes, I would tend to allow it if you post an additional picture of the gpu with specs/sn sticker that shows it was sold as 730 Quote
DeanoMax Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 Before I pull the trigger on GT 730's, all models are allowed? I'm looking at the 2gb gddr5 versions. Id assume as well volt mods are allowed for the ambient entries? Seems like a great time to learn, especially considering the cost of the cards. Quote
Administrators websmile Posted May 2, 2017 Administrators Posted May 2, 2017 I see no other limit than GT 730, but will ask again to make this clear Quote

I hope so, that is what I just bought, 2gb gddr5, I want to try 1gb version also to see if mem clocks much better. Quote
mllrkllr88 Posted May 2, 2017 Author Posted May 2, 2017 I made a quick little volt mod guide based on the reference card for a teammate of mine. Maybe this will help someone else too Quote
Administrators websmile Posted May 3, 2017 Administrators Posted May 3, 2017 No limit on version of 730GT that can be used, you can use ddr5 as well Quote
Lucky_n00b Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 And this is my old guide, based on MSI's GT 730 1GB GDDR5 model, might help those with the same cards: (in Indonesian but all the pics are in English, also somewhat google-translateable): Quote
mllrkllr88 Posted May 3, 2017 Author Posted May 3, 2017 I have a question about league placement. The rules state "•Extreme category consists of Elite, Extreme and Apprentice members; Ambient category consists of Enthusiast, Novice and Rookie members" If I (apprentice) sub according to the 5g ambient guidelines then my scores count in the extreme category? Correct? Using dice I wont really be able to compete with the LN2 junkies so I am wondering if I am allowed to participate in the ambient category as an apprentice. The rules are pretty clear but I wanted to double check. Quote

But with LN2 competition, very difficult. Wasted money and time, me thinks. Quote
Administrators websmile Posted May 3, 2017 Administrators Posted May 3, 2017 Sorry guys, apprentice counts to extreme because you are allowed to use sub zero cooling, so the extreme category it is. With a good modded card you might get a podiums place nontheless Quote
IvanCupa Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 Hello, I just want to ask, Why are submission page of extreme & ambient class not separated? It's deliberately by design? Or any another reason? Thanks for the answer. Quote
Administrators websmile Posted May 7, 2017 Administrators Posted May 7, 2017 It was decision by publisher, we will see how it works^^ Quote
mllrkllr88 Posted May 8, 2017 Author Posted May 8, 2017 I came across another PCB layout when doing a vmod for someone. I figured I would make a quick little guide and post it in here. Pics attached Quote
KaRtA Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 Hopefully my compatriot ambient oc'ers don't give these mods a go! Quote
buildzoid Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 finding a GDDR5 GT 730 cheap is proving harder than I thought it would be. Quote
Administrators websmile Posted May 10, 2017 Administrators Posted May 10, 2017 Less than 4 days for stage 1, please remember that extreme and ambient are listed at one ranking but will be divided for prizes - so let´s go and show your magic Quote
kimandsally Posted May 11, 2017 Posted May 11, 2017 Now you will think I'm nuts asking this but I feel strongly about it. Why can't people on DICE and Phase use temp monitoring software and run in ambient? These guys have little chance against LN2 and it would enable a lot more people to compete which is good? Opinions please. Quote
