The official BenchMate support thread

It's actually the first time I have Benchmate working on W7 so not sure if everything is normal or not.

1) I'm getting a "Could not verify CPUID brand string" warning in my results

2023-10-2917_41_15-Greenshot.thumb.png.bdebd9c7c6f362aa2b6840c5ea45a87f.png

2) When I launched BM right after starting Windows, it won't start and I get an error about a bad ACPI implementation, however, if I then wait a couple of minutes (it varies a lot), then BM will just launch without any issues. I assume it's some sluggishness in Windows right after the startup, but maybe it's worth mentioning in the error message that it might be worth to retry after a couple of minutes.

1) It's just a warning, you can ignore it. As you can see in the result window CPUID and SMBIOS show two different brand strings. But they are both saying it's the same CPU, so the result is good. This is a BIOS Implementation error. Although I could loosen up the validation and allow brand strings with different postfixes. Let me think about it.

2) It's a Windows 7 bug. ACPI PM timer is hogged, no idea why. You need to wait for 2 or 3 minutes so Windows allows to query the timer properly.

benchmate error

Your BenchMate files are either not valid (a file might be missing or corrupt - happens on bluescreens, try to reinstall BM) or if the Windows has not been on the internet for a long time (the many txt files suggest that), you need to install the SSL.com certificates, that BenchMate's file have been signed with.

You can find the certificates in BM\res\certificates\install-run-as-admin.bat. You need to run that file with admin privileges.

I thought about improving that error message. It happens too often and needs to be better balanced between security and practicability.

I've seen this 2-3 times and I think it is related to unstable system and/or some files get locked/corrupted due to a bsod. Usually a subsequent restart fixes it for me. If not, then a clean BM install should help.

1) Awesome news ? . Glad to know that it won't harm my submissions.

2) Can this be added to the FAQ ? Not sure if many people still use Windows 7, but it's nice to know since the error seems kind of fatal (and was pretty much the reason I gave up on using it a while ago).

It says host out of memory, so I guess you don't have enough RAM to run the test ?

Btw, I'm using the AMD SDK on Windows 7 and that one works fine for me.

No, this error is from the vc++ redistributable. AMD OCL is slower than the one linked by @Zombie568, so if you want to get the maximum out of the bench you have to change.

I use this version (Intel OCL 2.1): https://nextlimitsupport.atlassian.net/wiki/download/attachments/22683316/opencl_runtime_18.1_x64_setup.msi

This pack is also useful

I'm using BM 11.3.0.

Is it possible to add Cinebench R24 manually?  I've unpacked it and moved the binaries to the a created folder under apps called Cinebench\24.1.00 and then tried to add the binary from there, but it produces an error dialog with message that the application is not supported.

Thanks you.

It looks like for some reason, HWBot has a problem with Core2Duo E6550's from Benchmate, it recognizes them as E6540's.

E.g.

https://hwbot.org/submission/5083373_sanyax_y_cruncher___pi_25m_core_2_duo_e6540_19sec_82ms

https://hwbot.org/submission/5082705_sanyax_7_zip_core_2_duo_e6540_8450_mips

Attached is my HWbot file for this result -> https://hwbot.org/submission/5418537_wutske_pifast_core_2_duo_e6540_28sec_360ms

Feel free to delete my score result if it's not needed for investigation.

It's done and currently in its testing phase. I am taking my time on this because I have a lot on my plate right now and the benchmark is huge and very different from its predecessors (it uses the Redshift renderer now).
