Take your pick guys. I just googled these in Europe, US and Japan... at reasonable costs

Candidates:

nVIDIA GT 210

Nvidia GTS 450 GDDR5

Nvidia GTX 550 TI 1GB

AMD Radeon 5770

AMD Radeon 6770

Nvidia GTX 950

I know both AMDs are based on the same core, we can combine these if needed

will there be a limitation for hardware (platform) when we benching one of this cards?

Aim would be to choose benchmarks where the platform would have little to no effect hopefully allowing a range of platforms to be used :)

What 3dmarks does the current comp engine allow to be configured for just graphics score? I know anything pre 3dm06 does but what about newer 3dmarks where cpu score is counted, any where we can specify just graphics score?

The 210 is slow enough that any bench would be GPU bound in a reasonable configuration, so it would be possible to use Aquamark or 3Dmark2001SE for example.  Just saying :)

why not 3dmark2003 (with max cpu freq fixed)?

Could do any of 03/05/06 with benchmate and cpu freq limited. Keep everyone honest :)

I'm guessing @Leeghoofd will have another poll selecting benchies after this one closes so a gpu is decided upon.

holy democracy I like the new hwbot already, unless you make the poll and then disregard the results like the old ways :D

What about.

if we.

DIDNT use benchmate.

Yes let's use the alpha part of a beta app to "keep everyone honest" O.o

Thats perfectly fine with me. Just make sure all the benches chosen will be heavily gpu bound. Therefore NOT including 03/05/06 ect.

Do you have a better way to enforce a cpu freq limit?

MSI Afterburner Monitoring. ?

too much of a performance hit.

what better way to find bugs and fix things? why the benchmate hate

Just pick a hardware and bench combo that doesn't scale with CPU MHz and make the comp unlimited.

why the benchmate love?

why not use a sun dial when you are running a marathon? Better yet just take a picture of a clock and tell us how long it took.

The appropriate analogy would be strapping an 12.9" iPad Pro to your wrist instead of just using a Casio watch.

Protip: The Powercolor 5770 PCS++ with the memory heatsinks on the back has a Volterra VT1165MF controller (not the PCS+ without the heatsinks, that's not volterra, techspot are clowns), documented to have excellent software voltage control.  Full datasheet at https://www.rom.by/files/vt1165m.pdf - check page 20 for SVID codes to over 2V and the SMbus registers, hex edited sapphire trixx might do the job though.  Have fun with the modding comp guys.
