AMD Thuban OC

Share findings, overclockers, settings and pose questions about AMD's latest: Thuban

  1. Hey guys, I've taken the liberty to create a new subforum only for AMD Thuban overclocking experiences. If you're testing a new board or CPU, you can share your findings and ideas here. Also, if you have questions regarding overclocking the Thuban, just post it here. Have fun!

  2. Time to rant! Just post here to let us know when your Thuban setup pissed you off so badly you need a public forum to complain about it.

  3. This thread is for all the off-topic jibber-jabber on why you like Thuban

  6. Does anyone have an info on unlocking multiplier on Phenom II's? I've heard about core unlocking and cache unlocking so you'd think that it might be possible to also unlock the multiplier. So far the only info on this I can find is a single ocinside.de article on a single board. Does anyone know any more about this?

  7. Started by Massman,

As you know from the article I've posted on the front page, I've been testing the 1090T in combination with the Asus M4A89GTD Pro mainboard. At the moment, the result have to speak for themselves ... when I find the time, I'll re-test the board with a newer bios. Air Stable: CPU: 4289MHz MEM: 1900CL7 dual channel // 2000CL7 single channel memtest stable NB: 3000MHz 3D stable LN2 cooling CPU: 5900 3DM06 stable MEM: 1700CL7 stable (no 1800) NB: 3000MHz 3D stable

Hi, just wondering if there is any dedicated bios on this Asus crosshair 5 formula Z to run hyper memory and PhenomII in the best condition. best regards Dx4

  9. Is there a version of K10 Stat that works with Thuban? If so, is there a way to raise/lower multi with a hotkey?

Oh, I forgot here at my result...So, looks here (its not complete, because I promise 5500+ Mhz with SB, but still waiting at chip :-D ) http://extrahardware.cnews.cz/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=16645&sid=80c6c16e634244fe3791b317237fb60d Ambients was 10 C.

  12. Started by Massman,

Since SF3D posted the latest Asus CIV bios on XtremeSystems, I decided to have a look inside the bios to check whether something interesting can be found in relation to the upcoming release of the Thuban series. In the past, I've done this already and it yielded me some decent results back then. This time, again, some interesting bios strings could be found. 3 things to note in this screenshot: 1) It appears that ASUS has integrated CPU multipliers upto 35X, which is higher than the current physical limitation of 31,5x 2) The DRAM frequency multipliers go up to 2000MHz, whereas the highest memory multiplier on the Deneb processors was 1600MHz ... higher …

Working through the remaining boards here at the lab, this time I'm testing the MSI 790FX-GD70. Nothing special at the moment, just testing the basic compatibility to see if there are major flaws. SETUP: - AMD Thuban 1090T - MSI 790FX-GD70, bios variable - Twintech 9600GT - 2x 2GB OCZ Platinum DDR3-1600 CL8 - Antec TP 1KW

  16. Hey guys, For last month's OC challenge I was using the 790FX-GD70 as in a previous OC challenge it proved to be a very efficient board memory-wise. The problem was, however, that this board was very limited for PCMark runs. I had to run either: - 325HTT, 3:8 866MHz CL6 or - 342HTT, 1:2 684MHz CL5 With the 1:2 divider, I wasn't able to pass 330MHz and on LN2 I was completely HTT-limited at 370MHz. Not so good in other words. Since yesterday, I have the C4E on the test bench for a while and ... in the first few tests, the board looks REALLY decent. Especially given that it's a DDR3 board. Here are some preliminary results.

  17. Received the board yesterday evening.

  18. On Sunday and Tuesday (yesterday) we, the AOC, played with our phenny 1090T and the crosshair 4, to take confidence with amd since those are our first runs. Let's start, setting up everything with 1090T, C4F, 8800GTX and Kingston 2133C9 Kingston provided us for a review: testing to find maximum vga frequencies on air: Phenny @ 4,25 and 8800gtx at his max on air: 8K cpu score on air, not bad! Then we started to do insulation on Ryba/sf3d gpu pot, to find max frequencies for the 8800gtx without still vmodding it: Gpu pot mounted, here we go: We arrived at -120 on the 8800, but I have an old UEI DT200…
