I always asked myself ''what to do with this BIOS option'' I searched on google but no really good answers. Maybe I will have more chance here(I am sure). 1) So what is the difference between enable this option and disable it ? 2) For bench or extreme overclocking what is the best ?(enable or disbale) - for Windows XP - on a recent board ? - on an old board ? - fo Windows 7 64Bit Thank you in advance. (I always disabled it)

Currently, you can see most Intel CPU, price over 300USD, supports HT technology. For example, LGA 1366 Core i7-930/950 or LGA 1156 Core i7-870/875K. These 4 CPUs are all 4C8T and within the price range. There was a Core i5-7500 in LGA 1156 platform. It’s pure 4C4T structure without HT. The price was 6000NTD, around 200USD. Recently, Intel launched one new code, 760. No matter i5-750 or i5-760, it’s the highest C/P value Intel quad core CPU so far. Since beginning, I was considering the parity quad core CPU for long time. I also consider to change to entry quad core CPU. For Intel product line, Core i5-760 exactly is the entry and parity quad core CPU. Com…

EDIT: Forget about that.... problem seems to be somewhere else... Hey guys, i' run in a bit of trouble with the v-mods on my 275 Lightnings. The cards got ocp, vgpu and vmem mod on it. Testet the mods while running on air and everything seems to be okay. So, when i am goin to pull down the temps, the cards stop running. When rebooting, the vga bios gets loaded but a few secs later, i am getting a CMOS Error. All mod have an on/off switch. If i switch the mods to off, the card is running normal under cold. Could it be possible, that the VR's dont like it cold? They are placed on the backside of the cards between the power connectors and the pot. Any help w…

Sapphire have done their own PCB for non reference 5870 card which is called Vapor-X. This mod is for rev.2 cards with blue PCB. There is no possibility to adjust voltages with software, but I don't find this annoying as long as clocks are good. Here is VGPU, OCP and Vmem mod. (Vmem mod is not tested yet, but it should be correct 100%) Reading points can be found from same picture. *OCP mod: Tune recistance down to 5Kohm. (9.9Kohm originally) It should be ok up to 1.5V ** Effect: More current can be drawn to GPU *Vgpu mod: Slowly tune down recistance. On 2D 1.17V is 1.41V in 3D. Those are the settings I use with aircooling ** Effect: More MHz for GPU. Better c…

I got a pair of evga gtx460 se cards and I am having some trouble unlocking the voltage. Pretty sure that fermi bios editor is not going to be available to the public if I am wrong let me know. I unlocked the voltage ushing nibitor 5.9 and nvflash and it worked just fine I can now raise the vcore up to 1.215 using nvidia inspector opposed to the default 1.075. The only problem is that after I flashed the bios to the new one I cannot pass futuremarks system info scan so I cant run any benches. When I used nibitor to edit the bios it came up as an unsupported bios so I had to edit it by switching the device id to evga 460 1gb and then rescanned the bios, after that I c…

So I got a socket converter to make the FCPGA-2 (tualatin) processors work in FCPGA motherboards. It has a few different jumper configurations, and I followed the very basic instructions on the box, and set it to run on the Intel chipset for my CUSL2 motherboard (x86-secret beta bios). I put in the Celeron 1.4, turned it on, but got no post, no beep codes, nothing. I'm unwilling to try any of my other tualatins at this point just in case I fried this one, and I don't have a board that will support the tualatin natively. Note, that before I knew any better, I popped in this same tualatin cpu in the board without the adapter. Is it a possibili…

These years, the DIY PC market seems to be smaller and smaller. The main reasons are Notebook popularized and Netbook, Apple iPad launched. Most users just use computer for internet surfing or email. However, the internet topic of how to build a DIY PC is still very popular so far. Many users will search info by budget or needs to build own DIY PC. There are many friends ask me how to build the DIY PC. I think there are 2 kinds of mainstream PC. One is all in one MB, which built-in GPU. The price is lower and budget is around 11000~13000NTD, 365~431USD. The other one is discrete with graphic card for 3D online game. The price is still the key concern. W…

I still remember Intel launched new platform in November 2008. It started the Core i7 Age. This platform is LGA1366, and CPU is Core i7 series. The chipset is X58+ICH10R. Half years later, Intel announced LGA 1156 platform and CPU has Core i3, i5 and i7 which is wider product range. For LGA 1366 market position is not big impact compare to P55. Currently, LGA 1366 platform strength are 3-channel memory and multi PCI-E x16. The weakness is X58 power consumption is higher. The entry model is same as mid range LGA 1156 platform. End of March, Intel announced first 32nm 6-cores 980X CPU for X58 platform to extend its’ life cycle. Internet also has many news about ne…

Hi There, I've got an e8500, on a Asus P5KPL-AM mobo, cooled by a Coolermaster V8. Running at stock speed(until i can check my temps). Now my problem is, no matter what software i use(core temp, lavalys, hwmonitor) the core temp stays on 58°C when stressed and when the processor is idle. When I look into my bios, the temps are about 24°C of the cpu. Can anyone please help me?

Hey all! I've been playing with this board for about a week now; just testing how the bios goes and playing with the Intel GMA HD overclocking capabilities. Haven't gone totally extreme yet (read: liquid nitrogen), so only -25°C single stage cooling for now. PICTURES (bios V1.2) VIDEOS: I also put two videos up on Youtube. The first one is a quick walkthrough for the people who have never overclocked the Clarkdale IGP. Just explaining the basic stuff. The second one is a funny video of the IGP going crazy when the system memory is clocked too far. Enjoy. VOLTAGE MODIFICATIONS OVERCLOCKING RESULTS: AIR C…

Sometimes a man needs a break from all the high-end top-notch hardware overclocking and go back to basics. For me, basics means Super PI 32M with some challenges; in this case: Clarkdale and single stage cooling. First, I looked up all the Clarkdale SuperPI 32M Single Stage scores in the HWBOT database, which rather surpringly resulted in a list of a mere 30 results. Then I ordered that list according to PI time and give it some nice Vbulletin tags. 431.672 seconds - pro with Core i5 655k @ 5388.00 MHz ( 898 CL6.0 6-5-17 ) 439.047 seconds - 0Ro! with Core i5 661 @ 5589.60 MHz ( 972 CL8.0 9-8-24 1T ) 443.000 seconds - Ross with Core i5 670 @ 5315.00 MH…

Hey all, new here, been overclocking and messing with computers for years. trying to get my Tri setup to overclock a little more, would like to break the 900 barrier. The most I can get right now is core 875 mem 1945 voltage 1.2 whenever I go over 875 i get a display has stopped responding error. currently I have IOH/ICH @ 1.36/1.59v for both NB/SB, Everything is watercooled on independent loops, CPU, GPU's and NB/SB. GPU temps max out at 52c under full load, CPU 52c and NB/SB 39c. I have the unlocked bios on my cards allowing my voltage to go to a maximum of 1213 as displayed in afterburner and even with the voltage maxed I can't get past 875mh…
