  6. Also here's the bios I'm using for z790 apex encore, just to make sure it is shared, but there is nothing special about it. It is just 9905 with the ucode from 9933 so that I don't have to disable intel default and enable MCE every time, as well as cpu fan set to always ignore and armoury crate disabled. https://www.dropbox.com/s/6lzydh3a64mzwdz/z790ae9905uc129andbclkandstuffalreadyset.CAP?st=gyr6acjz&dl=0 (needs usb flashback)

  8. 1.78v here. Cpu is happy with 1.6v @3.55ghz and voltage curve goes to sky after that. I also wasn't able to validate this cpu above 3.65ghz this time - no matter voltage. I'm going to check some other things later this month (vdda and ldt voltages).

  10. Nothing special required, just volts and multiplier. If you're having issues on a newer bios, AMD may have done something with the agesa, so use bios flashback to a 2.xx bios instead

  15. Just a heads up , there is one amd RX 6900xtxh liquid cooled edition reference board by amd with faster gddr6 18Gb/s memory chips hence why you see those insane memory overclocks now on some rx 6900xtxh cards , ~ 2480Mhz is the max i have seen a card do , compared to normal xtx and xtxh cards wish maxed out at 2120~2150Mhz using 16Gb/s memory chips is a huge boost in performance as seen on the futuremark / UL hall of fame Timespy world records for rx 6900xt. The bios is floating around and some people has been testing this reference liquid cool bios on non refrence pcb xtxh chips with good results as it seems timmings 2 on this bios has losser timmings but bandwith increase so much that it beats tighter timmings at 2150Mhz normal xtxh . The Bios can be flash using linux or programmer directly to the Bios chip. Lots and lots of new information has come to light also , like new Igor's lab More Power Tool now you can up voltage , fclk , PL and many other settings that were locked before. This has been a game changing for latest subs that i have seen. Finally the whole RX 6xxx cards bios has been cracked wide open completely by MPT. Here is a list of tuttorials links that will help you get the most out of your RX 6xxx cards: https://www.hardwareluxx.de/community/threads/navi-21-max-overclocking-tutorial-6800-xt-6900-xt.1300245/ https://www.computerbase.de/forum/threads/big-navi-rx-6700xt-6800-xt-6900xt-overclocking-undervolting.1983202/page-35#post-25373147 https://www.igorslab.de/en/the-great-uv-guide-undervolting-and-saving-with-big-navi-and-the-morepower-tool-practice/3/ https://www.overclock.net/threads/official-amd-radeon-rx-6900-xt-owners-club.1774299/page-228 *** PS : There is a rumour around making it's round thru the rumour mill that there will be a complete refresh of the RX 6xxx line very soon with bigger cache and higher memory specifications *** take it with a spoon of salt as it is only a rumour for now , but it seems very likely to occur to fight the incoming rtx 3090 Ti and refresh rtx 3080 / rtx 3070 and rtx 3070 Ti. This is a game changer now ... Tweak you heart out on your RX 6xxx cards and let's see more WR broken.

  16. mod location for the 0.75V rail on the red devil cards. This might help with cold behaviour. Stock resistance is around 2K to GND and 0.75V so you'll want to use a 20K or larger trimmer.

  17. have to agree with chrispy. only change to my last benchmark and the one i ran just a few minutes ago is the the new driver. I was pretty reluctant but Im happy with this one. im going to read up a little bit more. just waiting on documentation from XFX because apparently aside of the scu numbers there is a huge difference between the two XFX black editions. i ll link the two. has to do with one having more efficient vrms and being able to hold a higher voltage.. https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/64342155? holy shit i stand corrected. there are now 3 black edition variants. just did a quick copy paste edit. my contact at xfx kinda leaked but he didnt lol. no officially at least. he said the limited black editions were originally supposed to come watercooled but their was a backorder on the gpu waterblock plates and those went to the asus cards instead.(all speculation tho) maybe i can get some help if some of you on here have the other two. i have the limited black edition. need some simple benchmarks and numbers on the other two. just so i can put together a proper review of sorts. thats the update tho.

  20. Found the I2C header pads. No need to solder wires really close to the VRM controllers. PCB picture from: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/powercolor-radeon-rx-6800-xt-red-devil/3.html In other news the mem cap mod is not as effective as it intially seemed. It's not +50MHz more like +20MHz.

  21. I added 4x4.7 uF 0402 MLCCs per VRAM chip and 3x470 uF to the Vmem VRM. Card now seems to scale all the way to 2200 mem. Starts to lose performance at 2220. Anyone else want to test?

  27. * Update* Just as we found out earlier on the release date of this graphics cards , indeed the AMD artificial limits of clocks speeds , power limit and voltages is exactly what was holding back this video cards. Extreme overclock Legend @der8auer proved this by running an unlocked 6900xt Red Devil Ultimate to an insane 3225Mhz on the core on a quick ln2 bench session. Huge thank you to Roman for taking the time to test this and proved what we earlier tought about AMD bad desision to lock down this cards so hard limiting the Core and memory clocks as well as a very low power limit impose as well as voltages. Head on over to youtube @der8auer channel and see the monster WR fastest core clocks ever achieved on a graphics card , 3225Mhz on a quick liquid nitrogen bench session wish left him wanting more ? , he will mod the card and add the @elmor evc2 controller to try and reach even higher clocks speed on his next video. Well done and it's a huge achievement. He will share the unlocked Bios later and we will check if it can be flash to other 6900xt video cards as there is a new tool that enable flashing the RX 6xxx video cards under windows , directly and fresh from techpowerup , newly released AMD VBFlash Tool version 3.15 and it can be found and download here - https://www.techpowerup.com/download/ati-atiflash/

  28. Biggest issue is actually powerlimit, not clocks. Even if we already can push 3000mhz on these cards it is very much a balancing game where it's very easy to loose performance. Even if we have seen some strong 3000mhz runs, I think a "proper" 3000mhz run with say a 1000w power limit... It would be a whole other performance level. Wish amd would do a xoc bios.

  29. Small update to this thread. It seems there is a wave of new "highly Bin" 6900xt video cards incoming with a new id Navi 21 XTX GPU ( I suspect more manufacturers will join this new wave soon ). First one out was the brand new PowerColor Red Devil Ultimate with 1.20v available for v.core , 303w TDP for the air cooled card and 332w TDP for the water cooled card and offers a 2425Mhz boost core clock out of the box , fully unlocked clocks for the core and memory , ( no more locked down clocks of 3000/2150Mhz , the sky is the limit ).The new board carries factory-overclocked AMD's top-of-the-range Navi 21 XTX GPU. Here is a couple of reviews of the air cooled version and the water cooled version. Our fellow XOC @CornerJack tested the card on a quick LN2 session , testing already prove the card is very capable of high clocks even without hard mods , evc2 or soft mods More Power Tool. He quickly reach a frequency of 2850/2150Mhz stable on 3dmark fireStrike. Head over to overclocking.com and read the whole review here: https://overclocking.com/test-powercolor-rx-6900-xt-red-devil-ultimate/ , JayzTwoCents took the water cooled edition for a spin under chill water , read the whole review here: Second Beast of a card was release today by Asrock under their highly acclaimed OC Formula Brand wish offers nothing but the best of the best with a focus in overclocking , welcome the Asrock RX 6900xt OC Formula that offers a beefy 21 Phase Power Design and offer a boost core clock of 2475Mhz out of the box ,The new board carries factory-overclocked AMD's top-of-the-range Navi 21 XTX GPU. Not much information or reviews has been posted yet of this new beast. 30. So, I ran my 6900XT on LN2 and EVC2 first time yesterday. Ended up being a pretty long session because as others have reported there are quite a few things to balance to get good efficiency. It does not get easier on LN2 For me MPT worked fine in combination with EVC2 power adjustments. Like chispy reported you have to balance volts and clocks because those two decide power, and the power limit is the biggest problem when benching these cards. But on LN2 you also have to factor in temperature, going to cold can hurt your score. But the biggest factor is voltage. You will have to play with voltage set in AMD-driver in combination with offset in EVC2. To be clear (or confusing maybe...) 1050mV set in driver plus 100mV in EVC2 is NOT the same as 1100mV set in driver plus 50mV EVC2! These two settings, even though actual voltage is similar, will make a huge difference in performance. Also, the voltage and offset that works for FS does not work for FSX and yet another combination is needed for FSU ? And then we have the factor that good voltage combination for game tests in Fire strikes does not always mean you will have good combined! This is especially true for normal Fire strike.

  31. Thanks for putting all the info in here! For me I get black screens on load if I'm under -66c approximately. Cold boot bug around the same. Small tip to add is try memory 2100 - 2150 in steps of 10. 2130 is very strong for me. Also use gen 3 pci for firestrikes. I am wondering if there is some differences also between 3x8 pin cards vs 2x8 pin like when you install a kp 1000w bios on a 2x8 pin card and get 666w limit. Just thinking out loud.

  32. Hey guys, i have recently spent lots of time figuring out vMod for GTX1060 6GB and also other Pascal uP9509 based GPUs, as this VRM IC doesnt support i2c bus, rather than that it utilizes PWMVID tech. Also BIOS mod isn't that easy on Pascal. Yesterday i managed to find picture with pinout for the VRM IC, also tried vMod on my GTX1060, works just fine, although didn't test yet beyond 1.2v as there was no more time left. GPU seems to scale a bit, managed to get 2180mhz from previous 2100Mhz max. During the weekend will bench the GPU to see what is it capable of, wish me luck If anyone wants to know how to do HW power mod on Pascal, you can just do the same thing as I did> solder 10ohm resistors on top of SMD caps around INA3221. You can also use 0805 SMD resistors, so it wont look as bad, but i dont bother much Hope the IC pinout will help someone also if u have any ideas feel free to share. Will appreciate Happy clockin"

  33. Everything went well, can't believe I hit 1800 on DICE, i wasn't expecting much past 1700.. http://hwbot.org/submission/3183338_ Card worked amazingly the entire time, I only blue screened once, and only had one driver crash. BSOD was from CPU pot heating up to much, wasn't paying attention. Lol
