Hey all, You may know me from the prodigious amount of PSC DDR3 that I binned and sold over the years, maybe some strong air results, but not so much from actual BOT submissions or scores. Although I subbed frequently when I first joined the bot, and went cold a couple of times, most of my time in OC became focused on binning for the sake of better understanding and measuring the limits of what hardware can achieve, not climbing the leaderboards. Basically, I tended to be more research-oriented about OC than competitive. Anyway, my single biggest project was binning PSC, and I always had this idea of creating "The PSC Report," a gigantic summary of all my findings. It took me a long time to actually put it together, but recently I finished it! I published it elsewhere, but I didn't want these findings to only be behind a paywall, so I've put it up for free here: [Public] DDR3 Elpida_PSC 1Gbit Rev.D Overclocking Test Report.pdf This report details the results of research conducted into the DDR3 memory IC PSC/Elpida 1Gb Rev.D (A.K.A. "PSC" or "BDDG") in the context of competitive overclocking and binning modeling. This includes a brief history, competitive context, and demystification of nomenclature and identification. This is followed by a detailed overclocking test report, containing statistical models gathered at various points across the IC voltage-frequency curve, percentile binning targets, and analysis of the tested memory modules and the effect of characteristics such as PCB model and speed rating on their performance. We hope that these findings will inspire further research into constructing behavioral models of overclocked computer hardware with statistical and scientific rigor. The scientist in me must acknowledge the report is limited and imperfect, (years late to the party ,) and just barely scratching the surface of the world of PSC overclocking. There's so much ground I could not cover, in particular systematically testing subzero results and investigating whether any robust relationship could be measured between ambient and cold. I'm not the first to conduct a mass binning, but to my knowledge, no single, cohesive work like this has ever been attempted in the history of OC. Even if you're not interested in this area of legacy hardware, I hope my work at least demonstrates that as messy as it can be, it is possible to systematically understand overclocking, and you can learn a lot by doing so! A decision has been made for the new Y-cruncher 0.8.6 and future versions: We will only allow the 0.8.6 to be used for 5B, 10B and 25B competitive rankings. The main goal is that we don't want to affect current ranking on benchmarks that have over 20K submissions. Secondly most of the 5B and higher are mainly ambient cooled submissions, with far lesser popularity thus current efforts get rewarded with a low amount of HW points for the top spots (6-15 pts maximum). This versus the 1B ranking where several CPUs get 50 HW points for top spot. Via the numerous PMs it is clear that not all users want to rebench "once" more. This stand versus the ones chasing the globals ofc which obviously don't mind the improved performance as they can to grab 'easy' points. We have debated it internally and took the path that HWBot wants to keep the 1B and 2.5B ranking as is and lock it at maximum Y-Cruncher 0.8.5 version. This taking into account the warning of the developers of both Y-Cruncher and BenchMate about the loss of 'optimal' support with newer hardware or Operating Systems. This decision will have pros and ofc haters, but internal testing showed that the performance gain with the newer version would once more obliterate the current rankings with not only the latest and greatest hardware, but will also have an impact on older CPU gens. So what will happen with future releases of Y-cruncher? Since the 5B and higher presets require a massive amount of memory, we will keep that ranking open for new unlocked performance releases, so rebenching to keep eg top spot and idem ditto points is a must with each new software release. Globals will be added to the 5B preset so people will be motivated to bench it. So this decision is a bit of both worlds, the most fair choice to make from our point of view. Secure the current and open up for a new ranking.

When looking at a submission you made yourself, there used to be a list of all your previous scores made with the same hardware under there. I consider that a very useful feature because without it, it's hard to look back at old scores

It’s unfortunate that no modern CSS frameworks have been implemented here. Using something like Tailwind CSS or Bootstrap could make the site fully responsive without adding much extra work. For fonts, I’d suggest something like "Inter," which is a variable font and thus easily adaptable. There are plenty of UI/UX designers who could handle the prototyping for a reasonable price, ensuring thoughtful positioning and presentation. Often, developers aren’t designers and vice versa, so collaborating with specialists can make a big difference. I’d recommend restoring the familiar, original design as a foundation, then gradually expanding in the UAT phase with community feedback. Additionally, I noticed no posts on the homepage announcing that help was needed, which could have been communicated more effectively. regards

If you read Revision Guide for AMD Athlon 64 and AMD Opteron Processors, you'll figure out that the FX model number if calculated as follows (row number 3): If you read the note at the top, you'll know that if NN=0 then the BIOS should program "AMD ES" which it apparently didn't. Then ZZ= 24 + NN (=0) we get FX-24. This is simply an unrated ES AMD FX CPU and given by it's stock frequency is an FX-57 ES. I will delete the category in the future. Right now I've discovered a huge bunch of interesting and supposedly, unknown info about s754/940/939. Stay tuned.

I've made an automatic updater, here's its first public build. It's still in rough shape, but it kind of works - at least the straightforward case. I will add info in the app for the separate options, but the minimal setup would be to use default settings (changes saved in settings.xml), select win7 iso, win10 iso and the desired drivers from the dropdown. The most time-consuming step is the updates integration (simplix updater), which also opens several other windows and I can't control that. First run should launch and download the updater pack, then you can turn off "check for updates". If the selected Win7 ISO contains more than one image, you will be asked to pick one from a dropdown, the rest should be automatic. There's an existing issue where my app tries to clean working directory, but the UpdatePack opens a log file on complete and the cleanup fails as that file is in use, but that's just the last step. Keep in mind "Clean" buton deletes the whole Working directory, including the updated "output.iso", so if to be safe you can select a different Output Directory where the ISO will be saved. It is possible to make your own driver package or edit the existing ones - just place it in "drivers" directory. The archive can be zip or 7z, maybe others would work too. Then you select your archive from the dropdown and it will be unpacked in the working directory and later integrated. This makes it possible to update the ISO for any platform, in theory. Or add additional device drivers, like external disk controller, NIC, USB controller, etc. To download Windows bootable ISOs, this is probably the fastest server, at least for me: https://os.click/en/Windows I've tested with 2 different Win7 ISO - one from this site: en_windows_7_ultimate_with_sp1_x64_dvd_u_677332.iso and one old stripped one I had from Z170 and they boath worked. If your source ISO is already updated, the UpdatePack will probably fail, but you can turn that off from its checkbox. Albrecht asked for volunteers to check the test server like 2 months ago and only 4 people gave feedback. It's not like he didn't try that. We need all this feedback in order to get it going and fixed fast. So please be productive and just report any bugs or things you don't like. You can be sure that Tim and Albrecht will look into everything.

You are right in that the API used should be more visible on the result screen. We'll improve that in an update. Trivial issue, did not consider the importance for this use case. As for the runs with corrupted rendering. This is partially "thanks nvidia"-level issue with 40-series, but we are indeed working on a solution. First part of this is now ready internally (in our admin interface) and we can trivially easy see these now manually. If you think a result is bogus, send a link to our support address and we can check and invalidate if needed. We cleaned up stuff from the top of the hall of fame this morning (invalidating results that are obviously not rendered correctly) - if we missed something, let us know and we'll check. We are also working on a fully automated solution for future submissions based on the same mechanic we currently have. This will take some time - implement, then test it in shadow mode to make sure we do not suddenly start rejecting legit results - but we will definitely do this. I do agree that in the push to get this test out, result validation side did not get the attention it deserves. We are right now working on fixing that. And once fixed for Steel Nomad, we'll go back to implement the same thing for older tests.

The Dual OC has a custom PCB that is different than reference and Strix. I could not find a compatible boardview file, but there might be some other model that uses same/similar PCB. It's my first touch with AMD card newer than HD7970 and I didn't even know what I'm buying, but this particular model seems to be a popular amongst miners in my country. The PCB exposes convenient I2C pads for the main PWM controller and also additional pads for hotwire (vcore, vmem, vddci). To enable hotwire functions, I had to bridge some pads for the different rails, otherwise the pads are disconnected and you can only use the measuring points. - I2C connection to ASP1300 - it's a relabelled IR3567B and EVC2 has full support - bridge pads marked in red to enable OVM and OVCI pins. For example, to control memory voltage with EVC, connect a GND point to GND on EVC, OVM to SRC1 and VDDM to VIN1, then use feedback mode in the software. It should be possible to use a regular hardware mod with a variable resistor (trimpot), but you need to connect one leg to OVM and the other one to GND. Always measure voltage under load. The core pads are on the back of the card, but that's unnecessary if you're going to use the I2C pads for the main PWM. Edit: Replaced images

If that was designed from the ground up, have you considered a library with ready to use components and if yes, can you share the reason for the current approach? I personally like the styling of Tailwind. I know there are pros and cons with everything, but a library would possibly give you responsive layout out of the box, consistent styling, fonts, paddings, etc. For a small dev team and large site that might be the easier solution. Displaying large sets of data and forms on a site is one of the hardest things to design. As for the fonts, Verdana and Ariel are really outdated for the web, they must only be used as fallbacks. There are many modern web fonts that are much nicer, I personally used Rubik for my site, but a typical font-family definition looks like this: "Rubik", -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, "Segoe UI", Roboto, "Helvetica Neue", Arial, sans-serif where "Rubik" is my embedded web font. It depends whether you want the same font on all devices or not. Other popular web fonts are Lato, Montserrat, Roboto, Noto Sans, Open Sans. You also need to account for localization, but I don't think that is a feature you're going to support. PS: I don't know what jquery is still used for, but the versoin is really old (from 2012). PS2: I feel few things are better, but overall there's no consistency and the perception is not that good - perhaps there aren't many common components and layouts and everything is done per page basis, which would be a nightmare to fix and support. There are also many UX issues, e.g. like tags/pills looking exactly the same as buttons, no loading indicators (page simply jumps when a container gets its data replaced), non-clickable elements like dropdown list items (you need to click on the text), inconsistent pointer style (cursor).

Can we get the arrows next to the page numbers back for scrolling pages on the front page? 2. Personally I preferred when the submit score button was separated from the rest of the main menu options, but this is personal preference 3. What happened to the sponsors/partners in the main page banner? 4. Scaling seems to be very weird at the moment as well. I reduced zoom on my 1920x1080 monitor to 90% and it looks a lot better. Full size is just weirdly spaced and awkward to look at imo.

I fully support no dogpile, it (dogpile) promotes quantity over quality, which is against the idea of 'keep pushing' imho. I would play with something like low clock by socket/generation in 32M or GB3 with fixed core count and some incentive to pull one of those Socket A dinosaurs out

I have LCBBE X2 chips. Seen a few x2 4400+ models with this, and the odd x2 3800+. Never saw an x2 4800+ or FX60 with it, though. Also, Opterons have it, sometimes (less for 939, but plenty of 940 opterons with this type of batch) I don't really know how part numbers are supposed to work, but there are plenty of other examples - E3 vs E6 venice chips come to mind (they have different part numbers, too, and are distinguishable). Then you have F2 vs F3 Windsor CPUs for AM2, G1 vs G2 Brisbanes (both with different part numbers), and for some Athlon II models you can have Regor, Propus or Deneb cores (Athlon II X2 220 in particular) - but with the same part number. You also have different part numbers for different wattage bins, though I'm not sure if those can be easily identified through software. (like, the 4400+ comes in an ADV and an ADA flavor) The question is just where you want to draw the line, and I also wonder if this was talked about some 15 years ago, too (it was noticed, and all of us 939 heads knew that these were dual cores with one core disabled - but there was also the question of "category inflation" from what I remember, so the decision was to keep them together)

Make sure RSVD_1 and RSVD_2 switch are set to Off Edit: Actually having it boot ever is weird if you were to have RSVD_2 enabled, I guess also make sure to not be using Maximus Tweak Mode 2, as this loads skews that only work well at ln2 temp.

I was always under the assumption that the version history page of System Info has download links to all the old versions but recently learned that is not the case, so I went and backed up as many of them as I could.
